Machine Learning Researcher. I’m probably busy inventing SkyNet. Was this bio written by me or a bot? You’ll never know! Shoot me a message, I’m pretty easy going! Let’s talk about something that matters.
Better way of wording it actually: my calorie intake has *substantially increased* since the start of those graphs. My resting calories were ~2.5k and I also burn an average of ~1.1k active calories per day, so I'd need to eat an extra 1.6k calories just to break even. Paradoxically, my weightloss plan allows for a lot of room for more food.
IMO the most interesting bit is the resting heart rate. IIRC a big part of OPs motivation for trying to rush off the pounds is risk of health complications. I'm nowhere close to being a healthy weight BUT my heart is doing AMAZING. My tidbit of advice: you get a lot of the health benefits from the exercise even if the weight trails behind. Want to reiterate though: CONSULT A DOCTOR.
Some crude charts for the curious (I just throw them on, pls don't judge how ugly the site is lmao): https://ericlefort.github.io/ExerciseLog/ and exercise level data here: https://github.com/EricLeFort/ExerciseLog/tree/main/data It doesn't show incoming calories but assume it's AT LEAST 3k on a typical day. My resting calories are just under 3k according to my Apple watch.
???? have you looked through to comments? Lots of people doing their best to talk sense into the guy. I don't care that he lost 26 pounds this month, I care whether he'll be healthy in 5 years. This isn't the right path for that. This is also a public forum so I want to ensure that others see this and realize it's not the right path forward. I'm sure others share this motivation. FWIW I'm also on a weightloss journey, down 35lbs but over 5 months. Still plenty to go but I'm getting there!
Assuming average male height, 25 years old, and no exercise at all his daily maintenance calories are ~3.4k. He is exercising though IIRC so it's probably closer to 3.8k + whatever active calories. He just needs to consult with a doctor, end of story.
The opinion itself is anecdotal. Every opinion is an anecdote since it originates from a single source (as opposed to being a representative sample from multiple sources). But do continue talking to me like I have no brain lmao 👍
“Anecdotal opinions” is redundant. Unless you meant to say something like “opinions built using anecdotes”
The fact that we’re having a conversation about the immigration status of a slaughtered family is absolutely insane.
It’s a Doom reference bc of the helmet, chill.
Those newts are bewts!
Who said people should be preemptively polite to them? You just dreamed up an apparition to argue with.
..did you just imply you’re planning a genocide?
Dunno who downvoted you btw but it’s not me, just want to be clear
Not sure what your financial position is but I strongly recommend a fitness tracker. You’ll surprise yourself at how many calories you burn through in a day. With 10k steps I’d say at least 5k calories if not more. ~3500 calories in a pound of fat btw for context. You can get a decent estimate of maintenance (aka resting) calories from online calculators in the meantime as well.
Wanna clarify that this is coming from a place of concern for your well-being and a desire to see you succeed with your weight loss journey. I’m currently ~270, down from 300 a few months ago for some level of relatability.
That’s exactly where you’re wrong: proper dieting *is* a lifestyle change. All of the literature shows that slow diets stick and fast diets boomerang. Do you even know what your current daily calorie burn is?
For context, at your weight, you’re probably burning ~3500 maintenance calories + ~1500 active calories getting your 10k steps. These are probably gross underestimates too. So you’re at least at a fucking 4500 calorie deficit. It’s not “if” you’ll experience health issues, it’s “when” and “how extreme”.
*will* not “might”
The guy’s maintenance calories are likely ~3k at least. A 500 calorie diet is a 2500 deficit (assuming literally no exercise). No medical professional would advocate lower than 1400 calories and probably not even more than a 1000 calorie daily deficit (and even that is a BIG deficit).
A 500 calorie deficit is a normal diet. A 500 calorie TOTAL intake is a) dangerous to health b) not sustainable from a willpower perspective c) will lead to a CRAZY boomerang as soon as you ease off the diet. Go to your doctor and make a real plan.
Oh, there’s some TikToks about a thing trying to convert outrage to clicks?? You’re right, that must reflect daily reality! My mistake! /s
No one cares if you look. People get uncomfortable if you stare or hover. Just make an effort and don’t be a creep. Life’s not that hard.
Just compute the surface area of the largest contiguous chunk and you’d have your answer
I’ve heard the opposite: they appreciate foreigners speaking the language so much that they come across as patronizing. Second-hand info though.
National? That there good boy is a goddamn global treasure.. o7
A) my comment was 99% a joke B) Playing a game most certainly counts as play, tautologically.
Anyone who’s played competitive FPS games can attest that not even play always means fun
USA! USA! USA!
The quotes from 1951 and 1933 don’t even reference young people.. (pls understand what […] means before @ing me)
It *is* the minimum that you have to be paid though, you can’t survive on min wage in the states. It *ought* to be min to survive.
