Didn't Lebanon send Hezbollah fighters into Israel immediately after the October invasion from the Hamas invasion of Israel? If so, it seems like Lebanon had it coming.
It is in the best interests of a number of countries and their people for Israel to keep being the 'bad guy.' It helps that the groups they target are pretty care-free when it comes to killing civilians and non-believers. If Hezbollah had been doing direct attacks against Israeli military (with fewer civilian casualties) they'd have a leg to stand on.
