Hey if you’re reading this you rock.

Is your website sighthound user friendly? If a sighthound happened to be visiting your link, would it find sufficient underground sighthound casinos to fuel a gambling addiction that it may or may not have?

Old. Southeastern coyotes (C. latrans frustror) have expanded a lot.

Coydog is a male coyote mating with a female dog (far more common). Dogote means female coyote mating with male dog (way rarer).

It’s a tracker. Researchers are studying that one.

Also I accidentally put a duplicate coyote image. I can’t edit it to put the correct one.

Eastern coyotes are magnificent. They are an average of 26-30% wolf (13-15% grey wolf, 13-15% Eastern wolf) and 5-10% dog. Some have as much as 50% wolf in them. There’s also the Southeastern coyote, which is the other big subspecies, which are theorized to have admixed with red wolves. These two Eastern subspecies also come in more colors, with black/melanistic Southeastern coyotes being more common than in other areas.

Dog chassis running with cat motor. Lol. But in reality they are canids. While coyotes, wolves, and dogs can interbreed, foxes can not hybridize with them as they have a different number of chromosomes. Wolves are closer to dogs than coyotes, and coyotes are sort of in between fox and wolf/dog in terms of behavior, but not evolution.

Do you specifically seek out fox posts? Would you have found it without the tag; by title alone? Genuinely curious

Look at the tail length when in doubt.

Yep, always contact a local wildlife center or even an animal rescue. Meds like heartworm treatments work on mange. You can put the medicine in food for them. Some animal rehabbers may have extras, but also I believe some OTC meds for dogs/cats and livestock work too. Mange doesn’t have to be a death sentence.

Yes, especially when the majority of coyotes and foxes with mange also test positive for rodenticide. Rat poison causes major problems for predators—people need to consider that before using it. Whatever you use on rodents/insects/etc can work its way up the food chain.

Haha I did feel weird putting it in there. But I wanted the post to be useful for ID purposes, and people really struggle to distinguish the two with mange.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly! I needed a post to reference when people struggle to distinguish the two. If I had a dollar for every coyote with mange being called a fox and vice versa, I could probably buy 3-piece suits for every mange infested animal.
