Changing Ariel instead of making a well written dark skinned mermaid, if that is the goal, would have been a better idea for most people.
Neither of those views have any serious consequences. But of course Ariel with dark skin is more reasonable than Jesus with blonde hair but-
Any reasonable person would understand that Jesus was of rather dark complexion, but that doesn't necessarily exclude other opinions.
