It would seem, based on this act, that they do care if you starve or not. They would very much prefer if you starved; they are taking action to make sure you starve.
Chat GPT is honestly pretty incredible. The depth it can get into on very complex subjects is pretty staggering. I ask it questions about subjects in which I am an expert and it gets an incredible amount of information exactly right. I am still wary of it, and I fact check anything even remotely important, but the power of it to effortlessly produce thorough, nuanced, researched analysis is undeniable at this point. No question LLMs are one of the most important advancements of my lifetime.

The internet has definitely lost something with AI art. Before, I would see an absolutely inane, silly image, and I would laugh and go "wow. Someone had this stupid idea, and cared enough about it to spend hours making it real." That's no longer the case. There's no filter of care or conviction between ideas and reality. We get countless images nobody cares about, so many that there's often no room for the ones someone DOES care about. It's a bummer.
