Dark Sun had a ... lot of stuff. The Tribe of One trilogy of Dark Sun novels had a protagonist who was an Elfling: half elf... and half halfling... In the world where halflings are xenophobic cannibals.

They do exist. Not a ton of them, but they have community in Iceland that I know of and are formally recognized by the government, and can perform weddings and other legally recognized rituals.

Its ironic that the people in my life that call me out on this are also the people that vehemently deny the existence of ADHD...

He was the smallest and least on fire shit-pile of the flaming shit-piles we had on offer at the time. Our options haven't much improved since.

I mean the smuggling cocaine and ratting on his buddies things happened a loooooong time ago. Like.... literally before I was born and I am almost 40 (he was arrested in 1978). This is not news.

There are rules. It doesn't eat children indiscriminately. Wear your best/newest clothes (basically, clean up) for your christmas celebration (christmas eve) and you'll be safe from Jólaköttinn. As usual there's a 'perform x behavior or the 'Y' will get you!' for children going on here, much like other darker fairy tale stories of this ilk.

Its a set of specific breeds, fairly prevalent around the middle east, northern africa, western asia region. There a few different specific breeds, but they are called fat-tailed sheep broadly. This is what they look like normally. Their tails are just a wad of fat, and it features widely in the regional cuisine's from what I've seen.

If you insert the accent I'm pretty sure it becomes 'Red Groin'.

Do with that what you will.

If mishandled though or allowed to cool after cooking etc, whale can have a touch of a fishy tang to it which can be off-putting or just weird to people. That said I have had seal, and that had a much more direct combination of seafood flavour in its meat... which was.... interesting.

Downside to puffin, its very lean so it can be very very dry.

Both of which I've had, cooked at home. Puffin is delicious, the meat is very dark (is why the icelanders call a wide variety of cliffbirds like that (including puffins) svartfugl/svartfuglar(blackbird/blackbirds), has nothing to do with plumage, its meat color).

Whale (specifically Minke whale that's all I have experience with) if done perfectly (medium rare) and served fresh off the grill can be better than beef (verdict given by my ex-wife who was raised on a alberta cattle farm).

Icelandic Modern Recipes: Really drive home the quality and freshness of naturally available ingredients and sidestep the issue of which culture's recipe they are actually using.

What I wrote wasn't meant to glorify *them* but to remind people that that's how people of the time would would behave towards each other, if their victims were 'other' than them, and there was an opportunity to get away with it. They were all shit. Everyone was shit. Vikings weren't any better than how they are depicted, but *neither was anybody else*.

Literally no more so than anyone else at the time, their exploits are just more documented, and mostly from sources heavily biased due to being from the perspective of the victims.
