Ok...I keep trying to find the beginning of this, but I keep getting distracted by THT posts. How long did it take from "cutting" to this point for you? Thanks!
The Marines were also not given the memo that our antennas on the roof were not places to sit, use as shade, as a table, etc...They were not even told to stay as far away as possible, to be as safe as they could. I lectured the on duty Marines on RF safety and slightly lost my shit on an O-6 down in my main work area on the subject. A few hours later to my delight, someone had marked off the RADHAZ areas and a relatively safe walking path to/from their positions.
I had a eerily similar with some Marines on 9/12/01...Air Space was closed,but Tampa PD was helping Macdill AFB with their Police Chopper searching the shoreline with the Coast Guard.Marines were manning a nice M-60 defensive position on the roof of the old CENTCOM building.They didn't get the memo and as the TPD heli approached,I watched one E3 Marine, ready and pick up the M60, start aiming at the chopper, his buddy was just uttering "F, F, F" While I walked up saying "No, No, No...WTF?"
You're always welcomed to hit me up. IT is one of the few gigs you can quickly pivot to a new career track with little to no upfront cost. With some time, effort, and YouTube, a motivated individual can learn the concepts, then pass a certification exam to demonstrate you have some knowledge in a week or two...from there you can find an entry level role to gain practical experience. All this encouragement is great and all,but what did you do for work?What skills do you have?General location? If you work in IT I have a fairly robust network and I will help get you in touch with folks if at all possible. I have been in your shoes and all this "fluffing/I understand" from others isn't gonna pay your bills. You deserve a day or two for reflection & recharging, but then it's time to get into work finding gear. If you're in IT or would like to pivot to to IT work, let me know.
