Anyone getting late 90's early 00's deja vu with this nonsense?

Anyone remember the story of the guy who bought a surplus tank and when trying to restore it to running had problems with the fuel tank, so checked to see what was going on and found a bunch of gold bars?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/brendancoffey/2011/10/26/the-four-companies-that-control-the-147-companies-that-own-everything/ dated but fairly accurate, and the subtlety probably means trying to avoid accusations of anti trust practices, manipulation, market fixing, monopolies etc. which seems to not even be enforced that much these days.

I literally haven't said that, look I cannot see how that debate performance from Biden will swing people over to his side, and I imagine any further debates will go the same, hence the only way I can see those swing voters coming back is if there is a candidate on the democratic side that can stand up in the debates/look viable, I don't know who that is but the pressure has to come from inside the democratic party to pivot at this juncture, that is my estimation.

Or maybe have a look around the pantry and find another choice, that's what I was getting at, for my money the dems need a different choice.

I'm not saying go for Trump but Biden cannot be the choice on the Dem side.

I'm sorry if you watched that and thought Biden was still the choice then you're as bad as a MAGA cultist.

A .22(lr presumably) fired from a rifle platform will remain both lethal and accurate out to 100 yards with little effort, people really need to stop acting like a .22 is a BB gun.

The Irish nationalists who are also not particularly happy about immigration from the middle east? yeah they're probably not the ones you want to invoke in this scenario.

Doing the lords work.

Not sure how they come to that conclusion considering without the intervention no children will be born but with it at least one will (hopefully, not guaranteed but you get my point.) If theirs a commandment to be fruitful and for some this is the only option I'm not really sure how they're squaring that circle.

Demand stays the same it is the constriction of supply in that scenario that drives prices upwards.

See this seemed like a reasonable take until the Trump bit, I don't care if you like Trump or not but to suggest the TV show host who had at best 2 years of actual control until covid took over everything is responsible for the creeping authoritarianism in the US is laughable, the erosion of civil liberties, privacy and the growth of surveillance in western culture has been ongoing for decades, Trump or not that trend is set to continue.

I'm no expert on the vagaries of the American judicial separation of State and Federal so I'll trust that you are correct, I am curious though, from what I understand as ruled right now in order to get a felony Trump is guilty of falisfying records to interfere in the outcome of a federal election, so since it's not a state appointment but federal would federal law as in the supreme court be where the case could ultimately go?

That I think is the heart of the matter, the payments for hush money I would hope everyone would concede clearly took place, I don't think anyone is contending otherwise, labelling those payments as legal fee's is questionable but payments facilitated by a lawyer would normally be classed as such, 50/50 on this point, the further connection to then state that action amounts to election interference is...murkier, Appeal court taking issue with the the ruling seems likely to me.

This is correct the bottom tweet is misleading, appeals are almost always based on procedural grounds and/or contentious legal interpretations.

Yeah especially the guys on the rooftops hold it down and watch them fall off on fire.

Totally different scenario but I don't understand it when you go to park somewhere it's pretty crowded close to the entrance so you go waaaaaay over in the corner surrounded by like 50 empty spaces and then when you get back someone has parked right next to you, like wtf was wrong with the other 49 spaces? did you think my car was lonely?

Ahh I was thinking in the more traditional sense of the people who don't realise Atlantis is an allegory deployed by Plato, and instead think of it as an actual place like a lost city, to me that's ultimately harmless. I didn't think that many people took the whole ancient aliens type stuff seriously.

If someone wants to believe Atlantis existed go for it, I'll take a bunch of people believing in Atlantis over flat earthers any day.
