I never even saw one of those close up. My current favourite is my M1 Garand. My SVT40 is a very close follower though.
Yep! It hits like a slug and buckshot at the same time. I can't speak for its accuracy though... I don't do much with muzzleloaders.
I hear buck and ball was a popular load. Single lead slug, and ~3 smaller pellets.
Oh for FOX sake!
It's risk vs. reward. If they just want your wallet, fine. Just report it after. If they want to hurt you, that's a point of fighting back.
Someone robs you and tries to kill you so they can't be IDd. That's life or death, so you may as well hedge your bets in your favour.
Strike those previous comments. Did my own research. Untrained people protecting themselves gets themselves hurt. Trained people often live.
Also, did it mention if the victim used the weapon? If you draw a weapon, it's no longer for show; it's for survival. It won't scare some.
Does it say who was polled? An idiot with a gun is as much a danger to themselves as others. A trained shooter will perform much better.
George Carlin was my hero. The world became so much less angry the day he died...
I'm not seeing it. I stand by my opinion that it's safer to protect yourself than to call for help. May I sleep now? 30+ hours awake...
Flawed and rose tinted thinking, but yes. I just don't like the idea of being told I can't have mine because someone might steal them.
Then people simply forgot her previous stance. I love it here, but I wish more voters had an attention span longer than their nose...
Yeah, I can't find that study anywhere. Mind linking it? Also, tangent, another federal study showed that violence is still declining.
I'll check up on that myself. Sec.
From which cities? You can't take one number from Chicago and another from Bel Air. That would be utterly misleading.
Not absolutely all. A fair number are smuggled in. The Mexican cartels are especially bad about this.
very civil conversation on self defense. It's given me something to do all night that was mentally stimulating. If nothing else, thanks.

I know it's not. I am however trained to use a gun safely and effectively. It's less of a risk than rolling over and begging for your life.
What's the source on this? Were both numbers taken at the same time from the same place? Preferably somewhere in the US.
I'll rather protect my family and my property. Your statement also assumes they're not simply violent, and only want to take stuff.
They take your laptop and steal all your bank info, ruin your credit, life, etc? Maybe take your pet or family member to be extreme. No >
Homocide is just an extension of assault. You can't really kill someone without assaulting them in some way. Defense is against assault.
Reread the grid of guns. Out of all those self defense ones, look how few are used for homocide/suicide/accidents. People protect themselves
Police can't be camping outside your door all day, nor would you want them to. People should be allowed to protect themselves, on their own.
To use a common quote: "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." It's safer to shoot the intruder yourself, then call.
They don't say/imply they're not counting hunting rifles, so we'll go with that for now. Read this though.
So you'd rather remove all chance someone has to use a legal gun to defend themselves from an illegal one? You don't need visual to know it.
You missed a part. Here's the snapshot of it.
