I learned two things.1) 3D pictures of your own brain are fascinating. My eyeballs are misaligned by almost a millimeter.2) Shit can be seriously wrong, and it won't show (I'm deaf AF, but just on one side)
So, I've had an MRI in the last couple years. And, basically, the *best* result that can come back is "unremarkable." That's it, the entire baseline. There's no my MRI-is-better-than-yours. It's either "normal" or "oh shit, you got problems."They took a picture of his brain and it's "unremarkable" ? That's gotta drive him fuckin bananas.
PSA: If you think you might be autistic/neurodivergent... Pause everything and go get your hearing tested. A bunch of symptoms are the same for both. Don't trust a phone app, go see a doctor for testing. Far more folks have hearing loss than you'd think, and most won't admit it. And folks who have hearing loss always underestimate how bad it is.
You may be hard if hearing / partly deaf. I'm deaf in one ear, and that's how all sounds are to me. And a lot of symptoms for deafness and autism overlap - because you're missing audio cues or can't make sense of them. So either way, a trip to the doc is in order.

Oh yup, I know some about that. I'm deaf on one side, and it's similar symptoms (if a different cause) - can't filter background and foreground sound like most folks. It's all just one mass of sounds.I discovered I couldn't understand fuck-all when people started wearing covid masks. And was super confused. Saw ENT. Lo and behold, deaf. So I always bring up testing when someone makes a note like yours. I just lived with it and coped, without knowing, for decades. Learn from my fail, I guess.
If you constantly look at faces/mouths to hear people better, you may be deaf, or at least partially. & A lot of partial deafness symptom/behaviors are the same as autism ones. Ask me how I know. ... Go get tested.
Fuck it. All subtitles all the time. I don't give a fuck anymore. Acclimate everyone to it, so its standard practice instead of a weird thing for the disabled.
I don't remember much of this movie... I saw it when it came out. IIIRC, it was fuckin terrible. Is it worth another go?
The squirrel got a chuckle out of me. It was definitely hokey. But it screamed "boy scout Superman" in two seconds. So accomplished a bit of story telling real fast.
I was not mad about the Billy Zane version. Not perfect, but it was a fun film.

If you're savvy, Plex can replace most streaming, FWIW. Just need a good deal of HD space to stash your content. And once you have something, no one ever moves it to another service.
