They've started changing it up, at least. But I think most of the characters listed are easy to idolize/sympathize with and ignore flaws.
I never had issue, but the fact that you had to dodge so many fake files means I can see how quickly it could go wrong.
A lot has changed in those 10 years.

Every 2 years is Rick and Morty's schedule. Though it probably helps that Rick and Morty isn't so plot based.
