I'm going to make myself a nice hot cup of Yorkshire Gold. Thanks for reminding me ?

Water actually does boil in about a minute on my induction stove, using an actual kettle.

There is such a thing as cold brewing tea. Just takes forever, and it’s for cold tea

I use my keurig to get hot water instantly.

Nobody should be expected to know how to do a thing until they're taught. But that's none of my business...

Hold up… Tea isn’t good for frogs what the hell is Kermit doing?

Cold brewed tea??? What?

Sun tea. Pitcher of water, add tea, leave in sun until it brews. Different taste than normal brewing, less bitter.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sun tea has too much bad bacteria last I read. I dunno if that's still true, but cold brew tea is better anyway.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Less bitter probably means less caffeine, more of the other flavors from the tea plant.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s how you make “sun tea” — 20 bags of Lipton in a big jug of water, leave it outside for a day.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Sun tea is not cold brewed. The sun warms it. I use a gallon pickle jar.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

20? I use 3.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No wonder my sun tea was disgusting

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah. Gotta be a big glass container. I have 1 gal pickle jars from costco. 1 gal water, 3 tea bags. Sun 4-8 hours depending on weather.

Microwave tea is a travesty. I've never been able to determine why but the flavour is so bland

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

My father is convinced microwaves are evil and taint food molecules or something so maybe?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I doubt that. I suspect is lack of convection currents without the true boil but I dunno

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yes, your reasoned, science based explanation makes more sense than my dad’s mumbo jumbo

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Microwaves cause water to vibrate, which makes heat through friction.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It takes no time at all if you use an electric kettle...

Modern Induction stoves are actually a tiny bit faster since you get all the surface area of a traditional kettle without the ineffeciency

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What? Our electric kettle still takes like 15 minutes. I also dunno how the ppl in the post are heating a stove kettle in 7, takes longer.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

15 is a bit long but one factor is north American kettles heat up slower than uk kettles apparently

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Apparently kettles aren't a big thing in the US due to the lower wattage, I read.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Nah they’re the same size as the ones in the UK. Similar to the size of a Mr. Coffee machine.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've always had one & every office I've worked in has had one, too. Less common than coffee makers, but they're readily available.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

they are pretty common in the US, just a little slower. But our power grid doesn't need a tea time booster system like the UK.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, we just don't tea that hard. They exist and are fairly easy to get, they're just not household items. The whole 'Voltage too low' thing

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

comes from people who don't really consider the cultural difference. The difference in heating time is like a minute, far from a deal

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

breaker. Plus the iced tea issue. A massive amount of tea in America is iced tea(Or the abomination known as sweet tea), which is generally

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Your forgetting sun tea where we fill a big jar full of water and lemon slices drop a couple tea bags in it and let the Sun slow brew it lol

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

brewed in large pitchers rather than single cups. Having a dedicated tea device just doesn't really make much sense for the average person.
