Heddal Stave Church in Norway, Notodden.

This is called a "portal" and is common on stave churches.

Constructed at the beginning of the 13th century.

It is the largest remaining stave church in Norway. And it is still in use!

does "stave" signify a time pd. or the construction? i've never heard "Stave Church", are these central to Norway? it's beautifully Gothic.
