Is seeing “SA” written out better than “sexual assault” when your brain essentially has to decode the former into the latter anyway to understand the sentence?

If their brain understands the meaning behind the abbreviation or substitution, it is functionally no different and would be as much a problem. Like, if I call a fella an "n-word", I know what it means, he knows what it means and it's just as bad so the veil is meaningless. Euphemisms like this are not for the sensitive or anything like that. They're for the advertisers. It's just capitalist-dystopian stuff. And you're right.
