Kharg island. The key.

Mar 12, 2026 9:52 PM

Kharg Island is a coral island approximately 8 kilometers long, strategically located at some 30 kilometers from the Iranian coast.
Satellite images show huge loading jetties extending into the sea.

This is where pipelines from the vast oil fields in central and western Iran converge.
Interestingly, the whole installation was built in the 1950s by the American oil company Amoco, before its confiscation during the 1979 islamic revolution.
Bombing Kharg Island would strike the Iranian regime at its core, but the economic consequences will be equally devastating. Experts warn that destroying Iran's daily oil exports would send the global energy market into freefall.
According to energy expert Neil Quilliam of the think tank Chatham House, the oil price, which had already peaked at $120 per barrel due to the ongoing unrest, could easily shoot past $150 per barrel.
Lynette Nusbacher (fmr intel officer) warns of a global prolonged, strong disruption and an equally explosive price increase on many, many goods.

$150? You have to pump that number up because what stopping Iran from retaliating by bombing every major oil field in the region from Iraq to Saudi, and the refineries in Israel

Its a good thing so many countries stepped away from green energy solutions before this. Really crippling ourselves in the process.

Even if Trump thinks it would be a good idea, it is not going to happen. Every scenario is a military nightmare.

Similar reason why the US weren't pleased that the Israelis bombed large oil storage facilities on the iranian mainland: Every ounce of oil go boom, no matter if owned by "good" or "bad" boys is bad for the global oil price.
