Downvote this, please. It’s a “humble brag” and I’m sure fishing for votes… One thing I can wish for everyone though is having someone in your life that you can be excited about yourself with, fuck

You can brag to us. Can’t promise we will be nice but I can promise we will be fun! Okay, actually I can only promise that we will be interesting……
ShoopDeDoop
You lost A person to brag to. You can brag to anyone.

After my grandma died, I realized no one will ever love me the way she did - I miss her every day and wish I could believe in heaven - it would be so comforting.
NomadicNoo
As a 52-year-old dad I’m proud of you
Muunk
What's been your biggest accomplishment so far this year?
RunawaySpoons
I was promised a humble brag yet don't see any type of brag in the post, boo. What's your accomplishment, OP?
kaijuuGold

zubax
I'm proud of you, you little shit.
pandafunk
You can always tell us. We'll be here to high five you.
staceyjorgenson31415
You can always try to here. Just be prepared for a very mixed bag of replies 😉

I miss your momma as much as mine if she was as much as a mom as mine. I just turned 19. She died Sept 6th 06 I turned 19 the 25th. She thought I was ready.. I'm not
pleaseacknowledgethecat
I can relate. All I can offer you is the reminder that your opinion of yourself is just as important. Be proud of yourself-just like your mom would if she was here with you.
huntakiller
My emotionally and physically abusive mother's accolades mean nothing to me but I let her know of some of my accomplishments so that she can feel good.
an3l3j
But tell to someone that does care and celebrate!
managedgoods
You guys have accomplishments?
an3l3j
You do too! You made it another day! Yay!
managedgoods
Ooof I see what you're doing but talk about a low bar! Thanks still
tanfin123fs9
I lost my mom a year ago. Idfk still how to go about it.
progressorstatusquo
It gets better. She is there in your heart. I lost both my parents young. Just because they're gone talk to her when you're by yourself. It helps
tanfin123fs9
Thank you.
scoutMoonDiver
My mom was always the one who told me I was pretty. I miss that.
an3l3j
Hey there pretty, you look lovely ;)
scoutMoonDiver
Aaaawwww! Thanks!

Get a plant. Tou can help it grow.
harribobs
tell me more about this :)
weavyweavees365
After 30 nobody cares what you accomplish. By then, learn to do it for others, not for kudos
buttcheeksandwiches
I lost my mom to cancer when I was just 19. She was my rock in the family. I could feel her love inside me. Your mom still lives inside you and I GUARANTEE she’s proud of what you’ve done and who you’ve become.
ChaoticGoodTransGirl
i feel like my mom is definitely a huge part of who i am too and i feel her presence that way a lot
Deonan
As a parent I hope this helps!

When I need to boost myself for whatever reason, I usually preface it with to the one who’s listening with “I need to say this out loud to make me understand that it’s true that I’m good at X/ have achieved Y”, and people usually respond well to that.
Vortex153
Thanks, dude

As a single dad that grew up with no dad. I tell my 3 year old all the things I do and she’ll tell me, “good job daddy, you sleepy, you tired?” It reminds me of when I was a toddler helping my mom relax when she got home from her second job to three kids in a new country where she didn’t even speak the language and I’m just so proud of her. Now I have online friends I try to talk to on regular basis and we encourage each other. Had to learn to become vulnerable.

I lost the one person who made me want to keep going
an3l3j
C'mon man keep going, we are all counting on you! You will find a new person/ animal or within yourself to keep doing life.
Iamthebeekeepernow
You look in the mirror and tell person there that you will keep on going because that person is worth it. Also I am sorry for your loss.
scoutMoonDiver
I’m so sorry.
Vortex153
Keep going my man, you’re impacting more people than you’d think
strangerJelly
I know you’ll become GreatDragon

I know that feel. I just finished grad school after struggling for years with being ready to even start. Lost both of my folks during covid and I wish to god I could share the news with them. They both knew how badly I wanted to start the kind of career I'm going into now and how much my mental health has held me back through my life. I'd love to be able to show them that I'm finally starting to live the kind of life I want and to thank them for helping me get here.
an3l3j
Congratulations! You are so awesome! We are all proud of you and are happy you are finally living the life you always wanted! Celebrate!

I’ve tried this. I got fucking downvoted into the hundreds. It’s definitely hit or miss. Def not a safe space for some.

My identical twin died a few years ago. Same.

We’re silly mammals (with neurones pinging in our brainstalk abit faster than the average penguin) and we need safety, validation and people we can share it with so we don’t sit alone in a cave.
imacmadman
My mom died in 2022 two days before her 91st birthday, I was stunned because I always called her on her birthday and for the last two years I haven’t been able to do it. My dad died the year before so, yeah the thing I miss most is calling them and talking to them.
MaLindaCent
I totally get it, my parents had the same birthday I year apart. May 17. My Dad died in 21, my Mom in 22. This was the first year I didn't call either of them.
DeppityDepp
Lost my mom in may. Still come across things I must tell her and then I remember. Not that I really forget since I live in the house as it is being cleared and prepared for sale.
BuyMeBonestormOrGoToHell
My mom passed in April, at 92. One consolation is that she and Dad are together again after 29 years (he passed in 1994).
liudna
My mum died about 4 years ago, when she was 68. What I wouldn’t give to have had 20 more years with her :(
procrastinatingagain
My mom recently died and I really miss calling her.
Vortex153
Bittersweet, I have a voicemail saved of my mom calling me to wish me a happy birthday. It helps my heart every time I hear it but is an absolute gut shot that I allowed it to go to voicemail
boostcreep
It went to your voicemail specifically so you could hear it as many times on your birthday as you want for the rest of your life. If you hadn’t missed that call you wouldn’t have such an amazing recording. Cherish that shit. No ragrets.
procrastinatingagain
This is such a great way to look at it! Thank you for framing it that way.
progressorstatusquo
Save it! Now! My mom passed when I was ten. And the last audio we had of her was accidentally deleted by the voicemail system :(
procrastinatingagain
I feel this in my heart.
strangerJelly
I actually cried, but it’s nice that she left him a message for whenever op needs it
