Another successful distraction from a real issue

When US Republicans don't want to address an issue, they fabricate more outrage to distract folks from it.

The school shooting that happened right as the school year started ticked off a lot of folks. The "thoughts and prayers" folks got their PR sound bytes, but wanted to quickly get away from it.

But, how? They'll need a new, outlandish distraction.

So, they start talking about babies aborted after birth again, kids going to school and coming home with sex change operations... but, apparently, saying immigrants are eating pets is the major distraction that won.

That's what the news has pivoted to.

That's what people have pivoted to.

And that's what the Republicans want.

They don't want folks lingering on the past, not even last week. They want folks constantly worried about or fact-checking the latest tabloid non-sense coming out of their mouths. That puts the Republicans on the offensive by lobbing stupid stuff out in the open, and everyone else on defense trying to disclaim it, fact-check it, or get caught up in just saying "omg, these people are so dumb!"

They're not dumb. When they go on the offensive with bullshit, they know exactly what they're doing; they're distracting you with noise.

The reason they didn't like the "weird" and "couch fucker" references that came up was b/c other folks were going on the offensive leaving the Republicans on defense trying to deal with it.

Now we're back to the Republicans "taking control" again. Big issues comes up, they create a new big distraction. A new "monster of the week". Don't worry about last weeks "plot". Ignore that. Just look at what we're doing now, and the fear-mongering in the near future.

They don't care that you think they're idiots. All they care about is that you're distracted and forgetting about the past.
