When you’re ready, get plugged in with the people organizing in your area. Protests and marches are a mirage and energy drain - it’s time to dig deep and organize.

Thank you for the first piece of forward looking into. I needed this so much. I'm done raging and I want to get to work.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that a bait number to get the phone info of Harris voters?

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Thanks OP. It is good to know there are people and groups who are focused on efficient response and informed by other autocratic regimes around the world

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, I already felt that way. Go to work doing what? Isn't that what I've been doing my whole life? Shits on fire yo but imma still continue on cause fucking programming I guess... When does it get to be enough? When do we get to throw up our hands and say I'm tired of hurting?

Earlier someone posted some practical rules for staying safe while participating in a resistance action. Everybody check to see if your vote was counted. Ballot check.org

Get together, get organized, and figure out when to act. The other side has Trump. He's not only their signal, but they're looking at him to pardon them of all wrong-doing as well. Your side needs to collaborate. Don't just decide to make a stink out of things when it's YOUR freedoms finally being infringed upon. You need to show up for others, or they won't show up for you. Show up in numbers that make it clear this won't stand. Millions of people. Be polite. Let them show their real face.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Important to remember, he still does not magically have the support of all the people who voted against him.

Disobey, and make sure you make it known.

I skipped the denial stage as I very much saw this coming and have been on the Anger stage since, still seething, trying to prepare myself for the next few months. Thanksgiving is going to be fun.......

Despite being a world away, it affects us. It was interesting watching some of the abject depression at first that has now turned back to proactive discussion.

Aussie here - but I needed this..

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Listen: You may not like to hear this and is a hard pill to swallow is that republicans had a game plan and they fucking executed it well, they were organised, and that is the scary bit. Now it's time to also get organised, be clever and fight back

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

That and libs consume their own. I was/ am furious with the uncommitted, dump Biden/ Harris lefties and am uncommitted about what happens in the aftermath of their actions.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is immensely preferable to somehow having the self control to set up your camera and film your self being 'outraged'.

1 year ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 13

yeah the "creating awareness" age makes folks think they're "mobilizing their followers". Then their followers just retweet, repost, etc to "create awareness". Pass the buck to make it someone elses problem. "I did my part". And in the end, nobody does anything, b/c they think someone else they "showed" will act. It's just a big circle jerk.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All I'm saying is... if an armed militia showed up on Jan 20th, they would ACTUALLY be exercising their 2nd Ammendment rights. Not this "Me own all gun unga bunga" bullshit that folks think the 2nd is.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Sounds like an insurrection to me, your dirty traitor

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I'm not saying I'd participate, I'm just saying it would be nice to see the 2nd used properly

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I work for an automation parts distributor/integrator. When covid messed up the supply chain we would have a year and half lead times on some parts. Once things started flowing again we had the best year in the company's history sales wise. They thought they could repeat that/do better this year and it looks like we will fall short by about 15%. They're convinced we are going to have our best sales year by far next year and at the same time the upper management had a little celebratory dinner

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

amongst themselves after Trump won. I don't know how a company who's biggest vendor is based in Germany thinks a president who wants to start trade wars with anyone and everyone is going to help them. Never mind all the vendors in the US who source components for their parts from China. Fortunately my position doesn't depend on the volume of sales we have so at least my job is safe.

I just want to point out: He's still weird. Vance is still weird. The entire GOP and most of the people running around in MAGA hats are still weird. There may be a lot of them, and they may have turned up to vote, and they may have won, but they're still fucking weird. And I'm not done reminding them of it.

1 year ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

Vance looked terrified during the speech behind everyone. I dont think most of the MAGA people actually expected to have this spotlight of victory or responsibility on them.

Donald trump is not the problem.

He is the result of the actual problem.

Can you tell us the actual problem instead of commenting the same thing over and over?

80 million people voted for a 78 year old convicted rapist, misogynist, fraudulent businessman

And you tell me there is not one single human being in America who is more capable than him?

Im not telling you anything, i just asked a question.

But yes there are many other Americans that would have been a better choice.

Are you saying the voters are the problem?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The voters are the problem, they voted knowingly. They want what he has to offer and that, imo, is the problem.

Good to know! I was mainly thinking of Scotland since my company has an office in Edinburgh so it would be an easy transfer.

It was just a video I saw a little before seeing this post. Scotland does have a big advantage in being an English speaking country but don't know what their immigration policies are.

I thought the same thing except Ireland. However the collapse of the AMOC Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current will drastically affect that region of the globe. Predicted to have such extreme winters the likes of which have never been seen. And it is actively slowing down and some scientist estimate complete collapse in 2 years time

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Even if that happens, the weather will likely end up like Minnesota's, which is still survivable (it's estimated to maybe happen this century, and while it could begin in as soon as two years' time, that is an extreme outlier in the scale of scenarios).

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd still say do it. The climate is an uncaring force of nature; it doesn't care about you, it isn't going to actively change what it's doing just to spite you. People in a country that couldn't bring themselves to stop/actively worked to bring about fascism will absolutely make it personal. I'm just across the Irish Sea (well, and Wales and half of England); I know what's coming climate-wise for this area, and I'll take that over Pseudo-Christian Dumbfuckistan any day.

Okay. You're one. There's 50 more people that think they're ready for the civil war that aren't. I'm former USN, and I know none of them would stick around during an actual shit situation.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m in the UK and I’m terrified for you. Unless Trump controls his right wing thugs and out of control police force I am worried we will see a scared population forced to defend itself.

I am hoping Trump’s handlers realise they need to keep America functioning as a society or they will have won nothing but ashes.

As an American I hope we don't end up with our own version of The Troubles.

Despite the results there are still more good than bad people. But the bad ones are emboldened. If prayers worked we wouldn’t be where we are so that won’t fix this. The whole planet is watching and hoping you survive this, we are all in this together.

can you like... somehow get the rest of imgur on board with this mentality lol? I've literally been downvoted for hours nonstop, called names, even told to delete my account (I love this community but seriously you guys) for not buying into the doomsday spiral and trying to remain positive. We need to face the reality that our loved ones still love us and none of us knows if things will get as bad as social media says. We're going to get through this.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

No, we are coming for you and your family

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

You gotta give people time, man. A lot of people just got hit very hard - many of us are dealing with a complete shattering of our view of our country. Until now, I thought that people were, on balance, good. But he even got the popular this time. People saw how he 'led' in 2016 and how he's acted the last decade, and went "I want him to be the adult in the room." That fucks people up to realize how many around them are okay with *waves hands in Trump's general direction*.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's gonna be a sort of period of mourning as people come to grips with the new realities. And during that, people are gonna be kind of prickly when others are telling them to shake it off and get back up - everyone mourns at their own pace. Some people's entire identity was just rejected by their birthplace. That takes time to get past. Some of us probably never will.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're alright, man. I saw you get downvoted on the other post, but I agree with you. Let's cut the social media for some days and get out of the doom scrolling. Yes, it's bad that Trump won. Very bad, even. I fucking hate it! But the doomsday scenarios pictured here and elsewhere are something else.

This! We have two years before the midterm. If you think there is a better candidate to represent your party vote for them in the primary. Try to educate your friends without annoying or badgering them. I am sure there is more, but I can’t think of it yet. But this is not over. Trump should only have 24 months before we vote the House and Senate Blue again.

1 year ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 3

Posting this here isn't going to convince anyone who matters, and will probably just get you muted or banned in places where those people hang out.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Whom though?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have to do the research in your state. Find out if either of your senators are up for election (a 6 year term means every 3rd election netier are up for election). Find out who your House representative is. Find out when the primaries are in your state. 6 months or so before the primaries is when you should know who is running.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bet, thanks... I'm independent on paper but always vote dem so I gotta register as dem 1st so I can be involved

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I stood up. I assume you stood up. And we got the shit kicked out of us. But, we stand up again.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Couldn't agree more, this just shows how little people actually care about the gay/transgender community and women. Like genuinely, the left does not give a fuck. At this point I don't even want the moniker of "left" I want something separate all together.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

The left is a coalition of everyone left of republicans which is a VERY wide group that gets wider by the day, which is why Democrats are always a fractured mess.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please do not blame the left for a campaign that spent the final month of the election sprinting toward the right, stopped Walz's best line of attack (campaign managers told them to stop calling republicans weird despite the fact that it was extremely working, as well as to lay off the "we're not going back" stuff), had Liz fucking Cheney endorse Harris, and looked at a deeply unpopular president and said (multiple times!) that she would do everything the same as he had.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

While she failed to concede anything to younger and progressive voters at all. My comment had nothing to do with the Harris campaign. I'm talking about people showing up to vote to help protect the people I said in my previous comment. This has nothing to do with Harris.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I voted for her, but it is not difficult to understand how tiring it is to have every election be sold to you as "we can't do nice things right now because we have to deal with the right" and then winning and not dealing with the right (to be fair they did do some nice things and tried to do more.)

Democrats ceded the conversation to Republicans on immigration and tried to out right-wing the right on the issue, despite most of their complaints being wholly bullshit.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

None of this happens if we actually have consequences for not following the law. Prosecute the guy who tried a coup, and maybe we're not here. But DoJ slow-walked the cases ("We're trying to build an airtight case for all the stuff we all watched happen live on television"), Trump got enough help from his friends in high places, and Clintonite election staffers told the campaign to stop doing all the things it was doing that were working and court the nonexistent center (and they listened.)

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blaming it on icels is how we get a repeat of this in 4 years. Incels are a tiny minority and not the main thing people voted for Trump for, its just disgenious at best. Polls were done on why people voted how they did, look them up if youre curious.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Who said incels did it? No one. But incels are the ones walking around openly threatening women. Make them afraid.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No, thats again a huge oversimplification which ignores all the actual misogyny and sexism still around in many families who pass it on to their kids who then act as you describe.

Got it because of 2020 & cheeto in the first place. When the president of the United States was downplaying a deadly virus because a election was coming up & suggested shoving UV light up your ass & injecting bleach? Yeah. I bought a firearm and a bucket of ammo. Now I got a rifle yesterday to match the pistol. Because it looks like Nazis are back back.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

What are some good guns to have for the revolution

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

If you want something to defend against home invasion, you should have a pistol and a shotgun. If you are concerned about being attacked in public, and if your state allows concealed carry, your home defense pistol needs to be small enough for concealed carry, like a Glock 19 or Sig Sauer P365.
If you're going to be street fighting, you might consider a small breakdown carbine like the Ruger PC, which can use the same 9mm magazines as your Glock. If you don’t want to be close to your target, ⇶

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

⇶you will need a good scoped hunting rifle. Probably a Tikka T3X chambered for 308. Be aware that a decent scope for this rifle is going to cost almost as much as the rifle!
All told, that's about $4,000 worth of firearms. I did choose high end guns here, but for home defense, the Maverick 88 shotgun at $249 and the Taurus G2C pistol at $27 will get you in the game.
And don't forget some body armor.
In the long run, if you practice diligently, you'll spend more on ammo than on the guns.▉

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

* Oops, the Taurus G2C is also $249. *

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was thinking a 9mm pistol. Would that be good? Or something bigger

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9mm is the caliber of choice for many special operations forces, including the Navy Seals, Army Special Forces, Delta Force, Rangers, CIA, FBI and almost every police force. The larger .45 caliber has superior stopping power, but 9mm handguns like the Glock 19 have significant tactical advantages such as larger magazine capacity, less recoil and smaller for conceal carry.
To improve stopping power, most police departments use hollow points like Hornady Critical Duty® 9mm+P 135 gr FTX .

I didn't downvote - but I did follow the link.

It's not about opposition. It's about coping. Lovely, but I was kinda looking for something a bit more... tactical. Like who to boycott. Legal resources. Cheap, and legal ways to cost the rich lots of money and even the playing field. Actual instructions on opposition. That sort of thing.

So yeah - appears we are.

I heard you should put sugar in gas tanks. How much sugar will do the trick?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard that that's less effective in modern cars. People have suggested bleach and liquid soap/shampoo but I have no first-hand experience with any of them.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worth noting that the CIA "Simple Sabotage Field Manual" does reference sugar in amounts of 100 grams/10 gallons of gas in addition to fine particulate, but it talks about using it to mess up the carburetor and obviously that's no longer a concern.

I disagree. The only real action I saw suggested was organized work stoppages. Everything else was coping strategies or symbolic protest which the author concedes in point #4 is probably not very useful (though it comes up again later with the paperclip emblem and MLK voluntary arrest examples). Possibly organizing groups of trusted individuals could be useful, but I didn't trust people before Trump... and a lot of us are relatively isolated introverts.

"Grieve"?

"Envision a positive future"?

You don't get political, change with wishful thinking and self-improvement. Sorry.

I mean - it's lovely. Be your best self. But "action" here is very much lacking.

It’s ok, this is for people with reading stamina

Gotta agree with OP, you clearly didn't read past those titles. #4 literally mentions going to protest marches and posting online.

And as we all know, posting online ALWAYS persuades people to see things from one's own point of view. It's SUPER effective. /s
