Why do we know this.!?What fucking monster is out there boiling penguin eggs??

There are populations of penguins that live in Warner climates and it used to be somewhat common in those regions. Scientists that work with penguins also have access to their eggs and can demonstrate these properties on the unfertilized eggs. Kind of like zoos that keep ostriches will feed the unfertilized ostrich eggs to the staff bc visitors get freaked out by it but either way the egg is never going to grow an embryo.

But... uncooked chicken egg-white is also clear.

As you can see in the photo, those eggs are cooked.

So... uncooked penguin egg-'white' is actually white? And it
turns clear when cooked
? EXPLAIN!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Gonna assume it's clear when raw and clear when cooked, unlike chicken eggs that are clear when raw and white when cooked

Now... read your own answer and then read the first bit of the post again.

They don't taste great if you're wondering, and it's illegal.

If you’re referring to the Antarctic treaty of 1959, this only applies to countries that visited the Antarctic and signed the treaty so as to protect the species. So it’s technically only illegal if you’re from a country that recognizes the signed treaty. And the Antarctic isn’t the only place to home Penguins.

Yeah apparently regular chickens can't taste spicy so you can feed them a ton of peppers and they don't notice but it does affect the taste of their eggs

No matter how bad it tastes someone somewhere will claim it's a delicacy.

Just because it has a fishy taste, doesn’t meant they don’t taste good. Reckon they would go well with seafood.

Make abHollandaise sauce served over lobster or crab...

I was just thinking they'd probably go well in the East Asian cuisines that make a lot of use of fish and seaweed.

I read that chicken eggs also taste fishy, if the chicken was fed fish.

i found out (after eating what i thought was a spoiled egg) that eggs with omega 3s can very rarely have a strong fishy taste that is totally harmless. it was SUPER GROSS.

Can 100% confirm. Fam used to feed our chicken a lot of fish scraps after fishing trips, the eggs would come out tasting and smelling fishy. Their eggs are also a bit more plain when only fed grain, and can come out more sulfury when they eat a lot of pumpkin and corn. We learned to be careful balancing their diet to prevent their eggs from tasting too weird

This is fascinating

Are they edible? Do they taste any good? What do they taste like? How long do they need boiling for soft boiled eggs? How long for hard boiled eggs? What does the omelette look like?

Let's find out!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

everything is edible at least once

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Sure sure, good point...
Uhm, as an addition on my first question list: "Can I enjoy these eggs a few days apart, or will it be a once in a lifetime experience?"

"Penguin eggs have traditionally been considered a delicacy to eat, and for a very long time people also collected eggs for public and private egg collections. In the past, the birds were also food for sailors." ~ https://www.marylandzoo.org/animal/african-penguin/

Including a 2002 Toyota Corolla?

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yeah, you just have to cut it up nice and small

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A guy ate a plane. I think a Corolla will be ok.

Okay but that’s a 1994, the rules don’t say anything about a 2002.

Ha! Got ya with the Air Bud defense!
