Bookshelf aquarium

May 13, 2023 1:08 AM

Finally finished the shelves. Made with 4/4 walnut finished in tung oil. It’s black pipe held up with toggler 79lb drywall anchors. One screw hit a metal stud so the anchors do all the work. 11 gallon.

Full of cherry shrimp, dwarf corys and a couple of loaches. Some phoenix rasbora too but they’re very fragile.

Tiny baby shrimp!

Not much action here

As someone who owned an aquarium business .... I'm a little scared for you, especially with the tank above outlets

Bro, 11 gallons of water weighs just under 92 pounds. That's JUST the water. The setup looks cool, but it's a matter of time before that thing collapses.

My math on the weight matches yours. My math on the anchors and shear strength of the drywall suggested the result pictures.
