Just been out for a meal with my friends for my birthday. 2 week old baby with us and he slept through the whole thing
LetMeinNow
Hang on in there @op - they get better in about 3 years, for a while, then they start wetting the bed instead... Dump it on grandparents
DerangedLittleGirl
4 days....it can take them a good few months to work out sleeping.
AwkwardKeming
And God help you if you look them in the face. Eyes will pop open and you just signed up for two more hours.

Welcome to parenthood

Day four?? Hahah.. only 1000 to go when they stop pooping in diapers, and times that by about 5, around 4-5000 diapers are gonna be bought.
slowmotionkarma
If your kid is wearing diapers at 3, you got bigger problems than the cost of diapers.
Imwalkenhere
father of a 6 week old, it doesnt get an easier, my daughter seems to think it's time to sleep when the sun's up, and time to cry when down
AwkwardKeming
Yep, their clock is switched for the first 3 months. Treat it like a fourth trimester, like they're not ready to be out yet.
sandwichcookie
yea, don't do that whispering shit. Make an effort to get your kid used to sleeping with normal conversation sounds/TV or whatever. worth it
Imwalkenhere
Had my friends over to celebrate my bday and 4week old daughter was strapped to her mom, everyone socializing, baby just slept thru it all
slowmotionkarma
This. No whispering and sneaking. Start slow. Your baby is less than a week old. But start making noise early and it'll pay dividends later.
Itsmeredhat
Oh he'll yeah, this x1000. Don't be quiet.
Bongonator
As a father of 4 boys all under 5.... just wait.
MyBallsAreAsSmoothAsEggs
Sweet jesus, man. Have you ever pulled out in your whole life?
AwkwardKeming
We had 3 under 3, on purpose. They are all friends now and can do mostly the same activities, and we're done with diapers forever.
EggFooYung
Serious comment: Find out what kind of loudish music your child likes best to sleep to: Rock, Blues, Death Metal, House, whatever. (1/2)
EggFooYung
Then play it when you want them to sleep. Like a lullaby, but leave it going, then they don't get woke by quieter noises in the house. (2/2)
MyBallsAreAsSmoothAsEggs
Does this seriously work? Extremely low volume, or cranked the fuck up?
AwkwardKeming
In the middle. Loud enough you can't easily hear conversation over it, but not so loud you wouldn't hear them screaming.
