This guy is a super-awesome artist, always drawing crazy creatures; I'm an up-and-coming, taking a more painterly approach, and he let me play around with a design he inked.
These are just preliminary flats, after I pick out the actual colors I'll paint and shade them. But I need help picking colors!

Hmmm. That's an interesting thought; it's the first one I designed and intentionally put lighter skin than hair... I'll try that though.

The middle right looks the most "real" but I like the red and yellow in the top right. Maybe use similar shades but less 'bright.'

I did tone down the shades a bit but it's supposed to be fire and when was the last time fire wasn't bright?

Plant's a bit TOO bright. Looks more like radiation poisoning. Needs earthier tones.

Although on the plant one, you could add some patches of red or some sort of fruit-y colour, maybe the claws or horns.
