We saved up some money, spent it on passports in case we need to get our kids out of the country.
(Gave the rest to some law firms sueing trump and 50501)
Freaking the fudge out over not getting my autistic son's given all this RFK jr stuff.
I got an email saying that they are sending a letter about why.
Hope it comes today.
Update: the letter says we put the wrong social security number, my spouse scanned our son's card and sent it back, so hopefully all is well!
I don't think I'll calm down until we have it though.

WE GOT IT! Ho my gurd that was terrifying!

He has to register in RFK Jr's autism tracking database first. Just do it. Don't worry. I'm sure he'll be allowed to return from your trip abroad and won't be targeted in any way. /s

As a disabled from birth, amateur historian… maybe make friends with someone who owns a farm with no neighbors.
Y’know, a nice place to vacation.

I've been trying to get my Irish citizenship, hoping I could be the person with the farm to smuggle people out of the country... But it's a long process

Good luck stranger.

I don't think that "autism" is anywhere on the passport or application, so I'm hoping it's just slow and you'll get it in the mail in a day or two.
Your son may have the same name as someone with a felony conviction or perhaps owes $2500 in outstanding child support, those are legit reasons for denying to issue a passport. Medical reasons are not.

Yeah I'm hoping it's something stupid and little,
Probably has nothing to do with autism,
but he does get SSI from the government because he has the developmental disability of autism so it is on his record somewhere
So I'm probably freaking out for no reason,
just screaming into the void
Thank you for answering back void!

I think that degree of inter-agency cooperation is pretty unlikely, given that they're all in a state of operational disarray under this administration.

In a gentler time, the State Department put together a nice guide for people on the spectrum to let them know what to expect: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/passports/forms-fees/Passport%20Social%20Story%20Final1.pdf
