It's a tragedy, its wrong, I hope everyone pulls through. BUT the tone at the US House of Reps yesterday was so much more stronger than when all the other gun violence tragedies that happen every day across the US. As the people's representative, shouldn't they feel the same vehement anger, shouldn't it be "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us" when other tragedies happen? FYI, I'm not American, neither a left snowflake or alt right nut.

This isn't so much about "gun violence" as it is the first real response to the rising vitriol and tacit acceptance to destroy "fascists"

Then what are you, a donut?

What do you want to bet their response just makes things worse?

They're in the farmhouse, we're in the barn.

While a tragedy, it's important to look at the cause of the violence, and not just the tools used. Most of it isn't terror attacks.

I saw where GOP congressman & NRA shill Jeff Flake said police couldn't respond at first because the shooter had such big clips...DO TELL...

Well people tend to take threats seriously when it's their own skin on the line.

Said this in another comment, agreed. But when your job is to literally represent, a bit more representing would be nice.

If Sandy Hook couldn't change anything than nothing will.

Criminal uses "X" to commit violence. We must ban "X" or restrict use of "X" by only gov't. Not good logic...

Of course the political class thinks of themselves as distinct from the public.

Most softball teams don't have armed guards like Congress's. Ditto nightclubs & elementary school classrooms & movie theaters etc etc etc

No matter who you are, where you're from, this kind of thing hits harder when the person is closer to you or reminds you of someone close

For sure. But when your job is to literally personify your constituents, a bit more representing would be nice is all I'm saying.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Would be nice. But they probably see then as setting an example. Keep calm and consider what could be done. Which is harder when it hits you

I could have sworn they said it was a crazy guy from Illinois.

I'm curious... would this eventually be tagged "terrorism"? A white, American born and raised.

other have in the past. look up Timothy McVay. and he didnt use guns, but still managed to kill dozens.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

14 dozen to be precise.

Home grown terrorism

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, no. They arrested the guns and let the guy go. That's the way it works.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Not sure if a joke, but the gunman died.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah he did. multiple gun shot wounds.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did someone detain the guns?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hah stupid guns. always using us humans to kill people.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

*stupid Americans, always shooting mass amounts of people as a result of sexual frustration

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

By "Us" he means "His fellow Congresspeople," not us ordinary Americans.

This is what confuses me abt liberals. They tend 2 despise the ruling/political class, yet most want a larger govt filled w/ politicians...

That's exactly what my problem with his speech is.

Guys like Paul Ryan and Steve Scalise have great healthcare, paid for by the taxpayers, while they vote to take ours away. They're scum.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Not touching healthcare. Only because there is nothing I could say about that craziness that's not already said. Good luck you guys :)

Thanks, but I get the feeling that things are going to get worse before they get better.

They actually currently have the ACA (aka Obamacare) It was set up as if its good enough for them its good enough for us. But 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With the repeal, they want to keep what they currently have for themselves but not give it to anyone else
