Duck Hunt x Doom = You guessed it, Duck Doom.

I actually made this, about 18 years ago. The folks at G4's "Attack of the Show" featured it on TV, and praised it for being mechanically sound, kinda funny, and retaining the feel of both games. My inbox took quite a beating for the next several months.

[EDIT]
Here's a little gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9amHirFXe8
(I'd add a clip to the post but I'm not familiar with how to do that)
[/EDIT]

Getting that feel right involved playing the original games frame-by-frame to study the movement and behavior of the weapons and ducks. The first version only took a week to make. The "Deluxe" version took much longer because I wanted to mix the two games' music as well, and I was quite unhappy with the early drafts. Eventually they got there.

I put a download link in one of the comments. Unfortunately, this was a product of some very basic tools at the time, and it's not guaranteed to run properly in anything newer than *Windows XP*. Maybe someday I'll find the source, dust it off and port it to a newer engine.

20 minutes in, and this is already my most popular post. Happy retro game day, I guess? Could've sworn today was also something else...

now you need to go back and make a 2049 version where controller 2 is still for the duck but he its in an a10 and the dog has a SAM missle

That’s tremendous. Nice work.

At least you're finally hitting that God damn giggling dog, too.

i remember babydoom and Monty Python and the Holy Grail doom

Honestly. Not sure on copyrights though. I could see this get green lighted on steam and selling for $2,99 if you can get it ported.

That sounds... kinda lax? I assumed they would never allow it. *thinking cap*

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even if Steam initially allows it on, I think Nintendo would slap this game down so hard.

#2 w...why has the player 80 % health? What did happen?

Oh wow, if I had the talent/patience to animate that, I probably would have put it in the game :o

This is cool! Is the BFG overkill? Yes. Does the prospect still excite me? Also yes. Thanks for sharing @OP!

Might finally be able to get even with that damn dog

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

....Sort of

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The BFG has a homing blast, guaranteed kill. :D Also I don't know what the actual occasion is, just saw a bunch of retro game posts today.

Not a combo I would have thought of, but that looks fun as heck.

It had a whole bunch of different Nintendo characters.

"Ooh, I'll grab that flamethrower, it'll be better than the spread gun" - NO CONTRA PLAYER EVER

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Oh god.. when I saw the "F" I was like "fuck you F power.. no one likes you!"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The "R" power is so misunderstood though... it made every gun better but nobody realized.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, I knew it did. Spread + Rapid Fire = Pwning the game.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So where can we download it?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

http://noproblo.dayjo.org/DDD/ But beware, it's old and not made to work on modern systems.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Noted. Thanks for the link

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I downloaded and ran it on Window 10 64-bit. I needed to install DirectPlay, which Windows did for me. My monitor stretched the image,

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

since it's only 800x600, but I played it for 13 rounds without issues. It'd be better if it could run in a window instead of full-screen.
