Never experienced posting, and this will be obliterated, but come on. Yes, she is probably the best female tennis player ever. Yes, she is an absolutely undeniable amazing talent. I fully respect all that she has accomplished because she is an incredible athlete with a fantastic work ethic. But to act how she did shows her class of personality. Her coach admitted he was indeed coaching from the box. That’s against the rules. To throw a hissy-fit like that is just inexcusable. If you’re that good, put your head down and get over it. Don’t get all pissed off and expect that the chair shouldn’t call against you based on your accomplishments. It’s a shame that she felt it alright to berate the ref like that. She could be a very positive role model, but this kind of behavior is unprofessional and over line, and should not be respected just because she has won so many other tournaments in the past.

You got beat. Win with class, lose with class.

If u watch tennis a lot, u know Serena always does this when she’s losing - finds a way to detract from her opponent’s victory. Predictable.

I knOw serena lost but what happened?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

her way of handling things was despicable, and her interview after was worse

John McEnroe - Hold my beer

I feel most bad for Osaka whose first Slam win will be overshadowed by this, despite utterly outclassing an all time great today.

ESPN feed all day has her quote “Everyone was cheering for her, I feel bad it turned out this way”. Really do feel bad for her

Apparently not. Osaka 6-2 first set victory, up 4-3 with no visible strain before the shenanigans. Serena was outclassed today, it happens.

Remember when John just stated his opinion, she dissed at him on Twitter about privacy. Then does a semi nude photo shoot

I didn’t watch the US Open (because college football) and hadn’t heard about this. Your straight-shooting analysis is much appreciated.

Watch the highlights. It was worse than last time when she berated and threatened violence on the lines woman

What happened v

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

She went absolutely off on the chair umpire, calling him a liar and a thief.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

...okay but also mention that he took a point away from her for breaking rules and thats why.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

My only question is why is coaching not allowed? Seems like an odd rule

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, well especially just gesturing from the stands, not even coaching. Just let them do that at least. Sheesh.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She’s now claiming the only reason she was penalized was because of sexism.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

She’s pissed the ref rocks adidas

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Guess she’s never heard of McEnroe getting penalized for his big mouth too

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I was going to say some thing about Johnny Mc.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1) This same ref has experienced much bigger rants and abuse from athletes without deducting points. I think Nadal said he was going to end

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2) the ref's career. That didn't prompt the ref to deduct points from them. I bet there isn't a ref who didn't get cursed out by McEnroe

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

3) in a big game back in the 80s, and as far as I know he never got points deducted. Ref went way beyond normal by doing that.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

i like how it wasn't even down to the wire where one call would matter. she got smoked. now she just looks like a whiner.

I mean if I am being perfectly honest here dude...I would still hit it.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow now I agree with everything until you say “she could be a very positive role model” she is a very positive role model.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Did she act like a child here, yes. but she done so much for the sport of tennis and for women in sports in general

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Does doing “so much for the sport of tennis for women” really permit acting like a whiny bitch? I would think that’d tarnish her rep some.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yeah I’m the same way the jeter faking getting hit with that ball tarnished his. It’ll be astory for a week and then forgotten

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love to see emotion in sports, celebrating and anger. It makes it more fun to watch and shows that the athletes really care and are not...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just there to collect a check. Role models have many sides and emotions are one. I hate the sanitizing of sports just because some people...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't handle it.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay ima get hate for this but this is some bull shit so many male athletes have said so so much worse and to refs and done worse and she1/?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Were they penalized on the court for points. If you yes then the only thing is that as a top player for a decade people expect quality

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don’t believe the ref did anything wrong but everyone hating her for lashing out when people get more mad at refs on tv is some bull.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Is getting all of this hate for getting mad at the ref when people get mad at the ref and yell at them all the time she thought it was a 1/?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bad call ive heard parents say 10 times worse stuff at 5 year olds soccer games than what she said and shes the one getting massive hate1/?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For calling him a thief when she thought he stole a point from him. Regardless of the call she shouldnt be labels bad because she freaked1/?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In an extremely important tournament when she thinks the ref mad a bad call thats some hot bull shit man.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like yes she acted inappropriately but not anymore than someone like kobe or something when they are irritated.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree and disagree, isnt there evidence that no man has been penalized/warned when in a similar situation?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Yes but, no man has also berated an official after being warned twice.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure I understand, she is considered an asshole because she was given an unfair warning (because others havent received one before)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

so demanded an apology, got upset and called the referees? What else did she do? Its human reaction to me for being treated unfairly imo

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The coaching call was legit, and men are called for it, rarely tho. Smashed racket is a violation (dumb rule tho). Then she did abuse ref.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ohh, I know the call was legit but I thought there was evidence that in a grand slam no man had ever been called for it.
