Wait, i don't have a kid...

20 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Take a cable car, get a free child.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"...and don't forget your complimentary toddler."

1 day ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 0

Noooooo! Aw dammit. Ya got me. Hey kid. Well it’s just you and me… for 20 years.

23 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like that it is coffin sized.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Free child with every ride!

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Better hope that door latched tightly

1 day ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

"go on, git! and take ya spawn with ya!"

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and that was the last anyone ever saw of them

Well, first problem, you wouldn't put me in that.

I would like to think this is true!

can confirm: This is all I've ever seen of them.

Watch them jump on at 8:10. https://youtu.be/hTAE3cAVSrE?si=F4Iv-jXQ2HWqkn0P

Was last person, with my little son, onto a gondola. As the attendant closed the door he said, "You're lucky! This is the last car to go up before we close it down to replace the cable!"

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds like that amusement park guy who says, "Hey, what's this red flashing light?" just before he drops people off a tower.

20 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's like one step away from this Far Side comic.

That seems incredibly not safe

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not really. If you trip or something you just get back up and catch the next car around

"I love you."
"I know."

That was a hell of a ride with full skiing gear 20years ago ... then my dad told me that it was even scarier before they modernized it, he was there in th 70s

Fun fact, the in game model for the bullets fired by these are indeed whole bullets instead of just the actual projectile.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

how do they get off?

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Someone at the bottom opens it for them. Coffin lifts generally can not be opened from the inside, to prevent people from jumping so once the latch is closed, you are stuck until someone lets you out.

22 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently some people like a cool view before they take their final swandive, and they figured it is safer to just not make that possible.

21 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That, or just morons going "wouldn't it be cool if Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ploc

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they obviously need Alps

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh no, I have seen what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think they have all the Alp they're gonna get

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would it need a running start, why not load the people then push it out?

1 day ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

It's constantly moving, there is no stopping. It's like a ski lift.

1 day ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

That did no occur to, good point

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh, sweetie. You never tried elevators that never stop either, have you? They're bloody terrifying.

1 day ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I have not

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

belt manlifts? I don't find them particularly scary but I wouldn't want to take my baby on one either

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think they meant a paternoster.

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

1 day ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

That's how they trick you into taking it. There's no one down there waiting for the child.

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yeah i am not comfortable with heights or close spaces. put me in that and were gonna have a problem.

1 day ago | Likes 412 Dislikes 7

Let’s put you in there

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're gonna have a problem. WE are going to have an awesome video.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We'll just do what the A Team did to BA whenever they had to fly in a plane

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then don't go in it mayhaps?

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like you'll have the problem and I'll have the distance lol

1 day ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You will have a problem. I will have the start of a new Tiktok trend called "ununboxing"

22 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when Azula and the avatar were running along the cables when they tried to escape from the volcano lake prison?

16 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen it while skiing in Italy but wouldn't take it.. also think it only operates in the summertime... thankfully :p

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

need to make it pitch dark inside and fill it with spiders and snakes, to be an equal opportunity chamber of fears.

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not afraid of heights, enclosed spaces, dark, spiders, or snakes but I would probably be uncomfortable covered in spiders and snakes i couldn't see or move away from. I don't think that counts as an irrational fear

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You will turn into a human blender?

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd he fine, but I think I'd have the call of the void. Which isn't great.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love both, am I broken?

10 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe they can create a gondola with a transparent floor so it feels less claustrophobic.

1 day ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And a speaker system playing relaxing sounds of glass cracking, to bring out that ASMR sensation.

1 day ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ride it 20 times and those fears will be gone like Squidward getting over canned bread.

1 day ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

im sorry? canned bread? do i need to go watch more spongebob?

1 day ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

This⬆️

18 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idk if the other 19 times count after passing out on the first.

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gondola or canned bread?

18 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not immediately one after the other. Wait till you wakeup, ride again. Whee!

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what chloroform is for.

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought it was to help people get into white vans?

23 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea, I'm not getting into that, bi fucking way!

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope "We" are not going to have problem. You may have a problem but, WE are just going to watch you go ape shit crazy from a nice safe distance. All the while asking, "Why did that dumb ass get in it?" and laughing.

1 day ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 2

The dumbass got in cause otherwise he's not getting off the mountain.

1 day ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

Oh there are other ways to get off a mountain

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The dumb ass probably took the same contraption upwards before. So we are also asking ourselves how and why they got up here in the first place.

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But how did the dumbass get up there?

1 day ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Very problematic and shrieking I guess.

1 day ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I mean, there has to be a maintenance road, at least. If the thing breaks down, they're not bringing repairmen and replacement parts in by helicopter.

1 day ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Many places like this are absolutely non reachable by car. Some have a cable transport system, other don't.

15 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, sweet summer child. Come to the Zugspitze. You can take the ropeway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eupjM6Kpgws or you can walk. (easiest tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk8XiV0JIhU) thats it.

18 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not at the tops of ski resorts. They can always come up and get you on a snowmobile, but you've got to go down the slopes a fair way to get to any sort of road.

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

(and yea, they bring repairmen in by helicopter.. they usually build these things with helicopters too I think... There's often no other way to get materials up the hill

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

id probably carry my kid myself...

1 day ago | Likes 166 Dislikes 0

Hells yes me too. We go in as a unit or we don’t go in. The whole process seemed way too casual.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I thought it was like the dad putting the kid in, and thought NOOOO!!! But looks like an employee who would know exactly what to, and more importantly what NOT to do, to get the them in safe...

1 day ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

How funny would it have been if he just yeeted the kid into it?

1 day ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Based on his chuckle i think he considered it

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Let me guess, it's your first child?

21 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Couldnt they just let them both get in while it is stationary?

1 day ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

…. No, tradition!

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More complex versions unhook from the main line and go more slowly for getting on and off but this is old/cheap. They will only stop in an emergency generally.

1 day ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It doesn't stop.

1 day ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah lifts like that don't stop unless there's an emergency. They do some clever stuff with pulleys to slow them down at either end but yeah, unless someone's actively in danger they keep running

23 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looking at the design I don't think stationary is an option without stopping the whole thing.

1 day ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's from a time when men were men, women were men and children's playgrounds were designed to weed out the weak. /s

21 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm in my 50s, I'm of the generation where tarmac was seen as the low impact flooring choice for playgrounds.

21 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So... do that then!!

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

The ride would be too slow. Like 1/100th the speed and its already not fast. Ski lifts work the same way

22 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every time someone gets on or off? Not practical I wouldn't have thought

1 day ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There are lots of things like this that never stop. Ski lifts are a good example, but lots of gondolas don't stop either.

1 day ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They probably wouldn't let you. One slip and ...

1 day ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

and you have to get on the next one that comes. People fall / fail to get on ski lifts all the time

1 day ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

...while carrying toddlers?

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

yea sure. They'll slow down the lift or even stop it depending how little the kid is. https://youtu.be/beKetcl3bMw

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

typically angled up and on snow not down on a scree field

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But it's not a ski lift it's a gondola. It falls down a mountain not up a hill.

21 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

gondolas go up and down hill, same as ski lifts. There is no difference and the loading process is per ride. We have like 30 here..

21 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

There is absolutely a difference. I also live in ski country, and there's definitely a difference lol

17 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Coffin lift Forcella Sassolungo in Val Gardena. https://www.powder.com/trending-news/coffin-gondola-italy

1 day ago | Likes 185 Dislikes 1

Nomen est omen and all that...

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... See, I was okay with the idea until they decided to call it a fuckin' coffin lift...

1 day ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 0

It saves the undertaker a whole heap of time if the lift fails. As a bonus they would bury themselves too

1 day ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"Scariest cable car in the world" seems a slight exaggeration

1 day ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Yeah, there's the one in Pic de Bure that fell twice (with people in it), the one in Gran Sasso with a single flat seat and nothing to hold you or your feet, the one in Lelex that was just a platform you stood on in 6 people while holding the bar with one hand and your skis with the other... Well, that was when I was a kid, they've all been replaced now, but the early days of cable cars were wild in terms of 'security'.

1 day ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So when you die; done and done. Convenient and cost effective. Hey, in this hellscape timeline, what more can we ask for?

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The WHAT lift?

1 day ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 0

Coffin

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In fairness they used to call pie crusts 'coffins'

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damn! I've been skiing in Val Gardena many times and this is the first time I see this 🤯

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was in the area in 2020 for ski trip :) I don't think it runs in the winter...

21 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, make sense then. I've been there like ten times but only in winter. Yeah, could be harder to fit with all the ski equipment ;)

21 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I want to go back.. best ski trip I've taken so far. Doing the Sella Ronda and skiing down Marmolada were highlights.

20 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
