If a white man robs you and you call him an asshole or a thief, but a black man robs you and you call him the n-word, what does that say about you?

ImHereToExplainTheJoke
Okay but here's the thing: If someone robs me, there's a motivation, an understandable (if amoral) explanation. Man needs money, he thinks I have some, he can't or won't think of a better way to get it, so he robs me. I'll hate him, call him an asshole, but that's his character as an individual. If I call him the N-word, I'm not just disparaging the thief, I'm disparaging his entire race, and saying he's a bad person BECAUSE of his race, or his race is a contributing factor. That's the diff.
sadurdaynight
Meanwhile we have politicians and a president that ARE robbing us, but when we call them "facists" they create an anti-terrorist org to go after antifa.
meganical
Reminds me of that new crime documentary on Netflix where the neighbor lady said she might’ve accidentally let the N-word fly out of her mouth if it fit the situation, and the detective asked her to explain the types of situations she was referring to where that might happen, and she backpedaled into making it worse.
icantbelieveistillhavetoprotestthiscrap
I used to have a bunch of friends I thought of as dumb but harmless. Like, just stupid as hell but otherwise decent people. Every single one of them went full Trumper.
KommanderKayriel
"Why can't I be racist when I'm offended?!" Because fuck you. Also you're probably rich, you deserve to be robbed.
AVaguelyFamiliarUsername
GREAT! Can't even think about the n-wird without being called a racist. /s

My favorite racist joke: What do you call a black bus driver?................... A bus driver. Got a lot of people over the years with that one.
Zange0
Have they given up on taking selfies in their trucks and started using AI for their profile pictures too?

Conservatives aren't known for their creativity.

"Based" has gone the way of "literally." It can now mean what it means or the opposite.
slightlybrokenegg
You probably just don’t understand what based means

White men are robbing this country and from everyone all day every day. I just call them what they are, assholes. Yeah I’m talking to you Musk, bezos and every CEO.
PrettySureNoActuallyImDefinitelySure
Shit like I create fictional scenarios that I play out in my head, but it's like some kind of road rage situation or bad guys come attack me at school (when I was in school) or at work. But then it stays there. It literally stays in my head. I don't go get angry about something that didn't happen and try to tell the world about it like I'm crying for pity. WTF is wrong with these people?
middlenameconfusion
The correct fictional scenario involving a mugger is when you ninja-kick him and follow up with a shoulder throw. Then walk away from the explosion.
Chilichunks
Look, I have to use a word to cut through, there's a lot going on.
AbeFromanSausageKingOfChicago
ALL RIGHT ALREADY….we get it. You want to say the N word. Just do it already. At least we’ll be able to easily find your racist ass.

They hurt their own feelings, then take it out on others.
mannabananarama
What a fanfuckingtastic response!
captainnewbi
Because racist people and policies directly cause the situations that motivate crime. Imagine that
Bob122872
At least Peter Griffin had the balls to say it.

(thanks John Popper) Because I use hate like fuel, The pain it drives my engine, I need to feel rejection, To feel anything at all, it grants me worldwide connection, With all things great and small, The anguish gives me vision, I can't say how long it lasts, But the more I have collisions, The more I want to drive fast,,,

Mm.. ‘thebaseddad’ is really a weird racist delusional MAGA:

Well yeah, wasn't that obvious?

They are so good at this.

This is exactly what I was going to post.

A fake target? Are you sure it isn't one of those ones you use to teach little boys to aim in the potty?
YapYapDaGrunt
I regret that I did not have a potty piss target trainer I feel like I could be doing tricks instead of just not missing the bowl
JohnnySilverballs
Conservatives LOVE making up fictional scenarios in their heads to get outraged over.
CorvidPrime
You have no idea how right you are… I used to work in a Military Surplus Store… We had two types of customer: 1) Those looking for cool bags and outdoor gear, and 2) Those looking to defend themselves and their loved ones from threats that had never actually happened to them, but that they KNEW were only a matter of time.
The latter type often made their political views well known… The former did not, but if I HAD to guess, I bet I’d be right…
Ninjainslippers
Scenarios in which they can do something racist or otherwise horrible.
JohnnySilverballs
Weird how that's the common thing connecting all of their made up scenarios. It's almost like they're universally terrible people.
picaro616
sounds like he just really wants to say the N word.
WowThatUsernameIsSoOriginal
the real world is not as bad as they feel it is, so they have to fill it with imagined threats. it's like anxiety, in a way.
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
It seems like they're so used to being angry that they need to keep finding ways to stay angry. Like they're so desperate to just constantly be angry! Is it like an addiction? Or perhaps something like where people with trauma can find it feels safer to stay in the traumatic situation because it's familiar? Like they feel list without the anger? I don't know the answer, but something's definitely going on with them and anger, it's really weird.
Bizarkly
The *thoughtful* person feels no pressure to make a situation fit into a pre-determined scenario -- but the *paranoid* person certainly does! (Borrowed from https://www.google.com/search?q=the+paranoid+style+in+american+politics).
DancesWithHippos
You just know if a black man ever talked to that guy, he'd call him, "Daddy," and then do whatever he could to stay in the closet.
mastrocj
Whelp you did. You outweirded the racist.
DancesWithHippos
Yeah, I am pretty weird, but it's just been my experience that most of these right wing nut jobs are super pent up and freaky, then blame you for theim having a peek at themselves.
mastrocj
And I'm sure they say the exact same BS stereotypes about black people to support their racist comments...
DrenLithear
Could just use racially neutral terms like asshole, shithead, cunt. There's a load of them. If your first instinct is to throw racial slurs at someone when angry, you're a racist cunt.
forelle
Yes, but they are assholes themselves so how, in their mind, could they use this to degrade another person?
elusivekarma
100% this. There could be lots of reasons why someone has reported to mugging and its by no means an acceptable thing to do. But no amount of bad behavior by a mugger will make you racist.
If your first reaction is to do something racist, then that's indicative of who you currently are. You can change that, but don't blame the circumstances for revealing it.
Arbitrarynamehere
If someone was being attacked and threw out a racial slur, when my attention is finally grabbed, I'm second guessing the situation because it sounds like you had whatever this is coming.
So like, don't be racist while you're being attacked in public because it'll probably increase the odds someone tries to help you lmao
pnersvfu
Depends where you are in America (and parts of the world)...
SlowerDwightYouIgnorantSlut
If your reaction to someone harming you is to immediately go to a racial slur, you’re a racist.
Leaveittojebus
It's the same with domestic abusers, blame it on the alcohol or "she said... and made me do it. I'm not like that". No you're like that, you're just waiting for an excuse.
UncleMartha
THIS. These people can't help but tell on themselves constantly. The issue is never safety or security, it's always "why can't I say [vile thing] in public?"
Muffyns
Honestly i prefer they would. Id rather know who to avoid up front instead of the possibility of being friends for 5 plus years before they finally feel comfortable enough to reveal how awful they are
