it'd be a good time to enjoy it for the underlying, sci-fi elements, which i liked, and the rest can still be appreciated from a distance

Same. I watched Finding Dory in theatres, and I cried through the whole movie. I'm a whimp when it comes to sad movies.

No, it wasn't, that's the point. It had really meaningful parts that kept me crying through the movie. It wasn't that it was a sad movie.
