Wife and I are fortunate to not be too badly impacted in all this. We have a vacation fund we grow each year, but decided a food bank would make much better use of it instead of us being douchebags going on vacation while people are starving. Sick of a nepo baby holding peoples' lives hostage as a way to throw a tantrum until he gets what he wants. We need criminal liability for politicians getting people hurt and killed.

SNAP is not a social support program. It's a corporate subsidy. When you aren't eating because you don't have work and there are no jobs to get, requiring you to have a job to get food, and if you can get work, the companies are not paying you enough to afford food - who's really being subsidized here?

I wouldn't even trust the food banks to distribute food properly/fairly or use all the funds as intended. The amount of corruption and sexual abuse that goes on in these places and men's missions is disgusting and horrifying. They mostly target the young in exchange for money/goods.

Also, keep in mind that donors tend to give more at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but people need food all year around, so you might want to check if your local food bank has a monthly donation plan, or consider one-time donations at other times of the year when donations from other people are lower.

A school was at the grocery store today holding a food drive. Breaks my heart seeing teachers collect food for hungry families.

As a survivor of rural Idaho & rural Montana, your experience is not unfamiliar to me.
Because I am so white I glow in the dark & I speak fluent redneck, they just assume I share their attitudes & say some of the most vile & hateful things in front of me. Unfortunately, I am usually outnumbered, so just punching them in the nose is generally a bad idea. Years of this has left me with an almost lexicographic knowledge of every racist, sexist, homophobic, & misogynistic 'joke' ever told.
