When your research brings you to a site that blocks the content until you turn off ad block.

Literally did this last night lol, fuck it I'm not typing in 800 numbers and secret passwords to watch 1 week of motor trend.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is brilliant! It's exactly what I do when free trials ask for card details........ nope!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's Bambi!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Imagine you act surprised, and then flee from the baby deer. Self-confidence +1

Privacy.com. ur welcome

A trial is only free for a certain amount of time. If it ever says trial expect to put in card info and needing to cancel

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use this simple trick with free trials: add a task in your calendar to remind me to unsubscribe at the end.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So right

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yup

Just had to kick a customer from my website who is claiming her third free week on a different user name. Same credit card though. Just pay.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People- “fuck ads!” Also people- “no, I won’t pay!”

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol, i just got a link a few moments ago for an only fans trial, and they're asking for my card ☹️ this post is like someone is watching me

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work for a credit card company, never ever sign up for a trial offer. Every call we get is from someone complaining about this.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But you can cancel anytime you want

Welcome to the Hotel Kalifornia!

Fuck your lying website!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Lol

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Overthinking.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also turn in to a ridiculously cute baby deer and bound away adorably from my computer when asked for a credit card.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have that in common

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every time I see this, it reminds me of the Colin/Randy Beaman bits from Animaniacs. 'kay, bye.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Latest thing didn't ask me for a credit card, but they tried to force me to "consent" to getting their spam. I couldn't register without it.

Please provide the source for this adorable little video! Cute as hell.

My PC came with a free month of Xbox Game Pass. They want my credit card to redeem it. Fuck off.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once got a free month of service for something, I don't remember what it was but some months later when I cancelled they claimed I still >

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

owed for a months worth of service. Seems you were paying for the past month not the next. So it really wasn't free.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I signed up for a free trial the other day and they immediately billed me. Needless to say Apple was notified.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh man.. good thing you noticed

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also.. We noticed you're using an Ad-Blocker, here's how to disable...

5 years ago | Likes 643 Dislikes 0

I'll disable on citation-machine. Watch one ad and it's free for 48hrs. Good deal imo when I'm citing dozens of sources.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha and that’s my cue to go

5 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

Can't remember the site, but continue with adblock is "I believe journalists should go hungry" ? ok

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I had removed my adblocker to support sites more. Then one site had literally had 40%+ ads compared to content, and I got an adblocker again

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Look, if you don't have annoying pop-ups and are a cool site, sure. Otherwise, fuck you and your ads.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

F12, click on the HTML element that has the pop up. Delete it. Good to go.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here's how I disable mine: CTRL+W

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For many sites if you run a script blocker as well you don't get those messages and the site will usually still work. Certainly for Forbes

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And if not, you can usually remove the messages using developer tools. Just pick the offending element and press the delete key.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My favorite is when they bitch about that when I'm not even using one.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't be using Adblock if the site didn't have 10 pop ups and 50 ads on every space of the page that has no text.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The way they word it like the ad blocker is an accident and I didn't deliberately install it is what grinds my gears

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

i'm not mad at a site for wanting to make money for their services. its not like we're entitled to use it for free

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looking at you Pintrest, Quora, Forbes...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Quora is easy game, just add /?share=1 to the end of the link. Pinterest has been trash since it's beginning. Dunno about Forbes.

Visa gift card, it's only going to locally check the number via the algorithm

5 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 0

Even easier is “create virtual card” -> “limit: $1”

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh that’s a good idea

5 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Sometimes works. Sometimes doesn’t.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Privacy.com allows you to create burner cards

Sometimes they'll send a test charge too

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Visa gift card with 0 money left on it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It gets refunded. I assume that would still work on a visa gift card, no?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Privacy.com for temp credit cards, or ones you can pause.

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Weird product name for the service, i think it sounds more like VPN or something related to browsing

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, love privacy. Not just for sign ups like the OP, also use it with subscription services in case of a surprise price increase.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And when you get the BS “call to cancel”. Nooooooooope.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, best part for sure. PayPal is also sometimes good for this using the manage subscriptions section. Great features.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, good point — I like subscriptions handled via PayPal (and Apple) for that as well.
