I'm sorry for your lost,You have a right to grieve. Those who love you, want to soften that blow ,but you have to go though it,to get over it.

My condolences, that sounds fucking rough and I can't imagine how I would react.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A friend of mine's first Facebook post after having her leg amputated: "I LOST 5 POUNDS IN TWO HOURS WITH THIS ONE WEIRD TRICK!"

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Keep your spirits up. :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey Op! Seek support groups, a psychiatrist, and some extra love from the people who matter to you. God bless.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look up @Forlurn . Guy lost part of both legs to serious frost bite recently. has kept one of the most positive attitudes to ever exist.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Get one of those artistic prosthetic legs and you'll have one way more awesome then the average person!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't gone through it, but my grandpa has. He very much enjoyed the single slipper I crocheted for him. @OP want a slipper?

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Depending on shoe size and which leg, they could split shoe purchases! I've heard some vet groups do that. Nice way of staying in touch.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try looking on hospital websites for support groups. They usually meet once a month and plenty others are using online chat

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Atleast the hospital i work in has a support group that will come visit patients who will have a similar surgery as they did. Very nice.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a real struggle to find support groups that meet in person and then they usually only meet once a month.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you're looking for someone who can lend a hand? (But really, sorry OP)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

congrats on your first cyborg replacement piece.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't gone thru myself but someone very close to me lost both legs (on 2 occassions) so I understand, stay strong OP!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know a guy rock climbing on one leg. So... is that inspiration enough?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good luck! Hope the procedure goes well!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had my left left amputated when I was one year old. In many ways I consider myself lucky because I can't remember a time before it. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ If it helps, OP, I walk to work every day, I was in Scouts, I hike and camp, I travel, I have skied, I dance (badly). I've known some

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/ really awesome amputee skiiers. I don't mean to humblebrag, but to left you know It really doesn't have to be the end of a physical life.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well i never had one amputated but i was born without a hand, if you count that

8 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 2

Suitable username too

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Do you go into second hand shops just to wind em up a bit?

8 years ago | Likes 197 Dislikes 0

He can count it, but only if it's 15 or fewer.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

16 for a guy, 17 if a gal!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many hand jokes do you get in a typical week?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People don't usually make jokes to me, i make jokes to make them more comfortable and less weird around me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's hands down the best strategy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Username checks out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why were you born with one? I have ABS and was born without my left!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was told that it was probably ABS but theres always a bunch of possibilities with birth defects

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What year were you born? They didn't even know I had one until I came out with 5 fingers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Mid-late 90s

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Username checks out

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

which one? I'm stuck with left only gloves, so I always have extra right gloves. Also silicone shoelaces are awesome if you have issues 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh dude I only ise right handed gloves, i used to have a surplus of left

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I kept the left's for some reason. I'm not sure why, it's not like i ever needed them. Lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I need right gloves! I don't buy them because the left goes to waste.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Tying knots like I do

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Are you alright?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just dandy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You just have to walk it off!.. too soon!?

8 years ago | Likes 164 Dislikes 37

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Every now n again you might need a hand!.. Still Too Soon?

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

NO JOKES! He will NOT stand for this.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm sure he'll be all right after this...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But seriously all the best wshes for you OP!

108 points, and behind comments with 19 and 28 points.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's strange..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I might be the wrong guy to talk to since I've been an amputee all my life, but it's never slowed me down. The body is amazing at adapting.

8 years ago | Likes 172 Dislikes 1

Even when missing limbs the human is still dangerous and capabel of fighting. His legs can efficently be replaced by artificial metal legs.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That first sentence is an oxymoron. Sorry I couldn't help it.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 17

How

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are technically correct, the best kind of correct. I'll upvote you.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Thank you!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So you don't need a hand?

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Nah, I've got a leg up on the situation.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

i'm going out on a limb here, but with all these puns, but i think you'd make a great dad.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I can only hope any kids of mine also find bad puns humerus.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

FUCK.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

You really point people in the right direction!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just have courage. A false leg is better than one that would kill you. Plus if you get a neat metal leg you can beat people with it.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Sounds awefull... But look on the bright side, you might become a cyborg!

8 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 4

we are getting closer and closer to that seeming eventuality.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ask for it to be removable so you can literally shove it up someone’s ass.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This right here. I lost parts of my right foot to an accident. I look forward to a fully articulating ankle and becoming a cyborg. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not paying for metered parking and being able to park in green spots is great too. It gets easier and better. You're a fighter

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They could go be one of the coolest cosplayers ever too!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1/8th the way to full robot limb status. Just please remember us when you get there and dont become a Terminator.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the nice parking

8 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

Where I live it's tough getting a handicap parking permit. Armless friend was denied, "put money in the parking meter with your teeth"

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Future dad joke when asked what happened. "They cut off the wrong one" - "What?" - [point to right leg] "Thats the right one."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In all seriousness, just read an article on how "mirror therapy" helps with phantom limb pain.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plus, look up Behance exo prosthetic leg. (I cant speak to it, other than it looks cool.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are not your body. Your body is just a vehicle.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have not lost a limb. But look up Senator Tammy Duckworth, I hope she can be an inspiration to you.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She's pretty darn inspiring to human beings generally. Gave a graduation speech at my little cousin's school. Really nice in person.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You losing an arm or a leg? DON'T let them take your head! If your head leaves your body, it's over.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Physical Therapist, Ive never seen anyone as ablebodied as someone with a prosthesis. Hell half the time those things are ^ bio (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2; youll do great buddy. And please see a Physical therapist as soon as possible to have you jumping on that leg/moving that arm!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have a friend who has his leg amputated. He won a silver medal in the 2016 paralimpics, javelin throw. He's doing great and 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

2/2 you will too OP. http://paralympic.ca/alister-mcqueen. Stick with physio and kick cancers ass. You'll rock this

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I still have my limbs, so there are def ppl out there with more info than me, but make sure you get some therapy, maybe a support group.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You will adapt, you will improvise and you will overcome. Plus you'll be part android!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m an above knee amputee myself

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I had synovial sarcoma in my hand. Had it cut off 5 years ago

8 years ago | Likes 595 Dislikes 6

He didn't leave a note.

Dark comedy helps

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Sometimes for some people

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and probably say you shouldn’t ask people that.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My birth father has his leg amputated. He was a real cunt. But apparently could beat anyone up a flight of stairs. Good luck.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jesus Christ Anomaly you cant just ask someone why they're getting a limb sawed off.

8 years ago | Likes 198 Dislikes 16

Technically you can. He just did

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This made me chuckle way more than it should have

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Goddamnit I laughed way harder at this than I should've

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No. You can’t ask for picture of the sawed off limb. But If you got it, share it.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ofc you can. What kind of a safespace hole is this? If op doesnt want to tell he'll just ignore it!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the reason for the limb amputation can affect the outcome mentally.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Clear cell sarcoma (cancer) in my knee

8 years ago | Likes 714 Dislikes 1

At least your feet won’t get tired for standing too long.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

What are the symptoms of this? How did you figure out it was cancer?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dude, this part may be kinda crappy. But you also have the potential to have a sick robot leg before me, which id be jelly about.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Knee cancer?! Well, points for originality I guess!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

kay, first thing you gotta do is ask the doctor if you can still do the Hokey Pokey.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But now you get the bouncy leg

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just met a comedian with one leg, about 30. Ye was awesome and in great humor

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time to get a Terminator leg. Make it look badass and be proud of it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude you going to get a robot leg and you are going to look so cool! :)

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry to hear that... but on the plus side, best pirate Halloween costume this year :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry to hear that OP. I am an occupational therapist &have worked with some people have had amputations if u want to talk

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have a rare opportunity that most won't have to become the fabled one legged man who wins an ass kicking contest. Keep Fighting @OP !

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just chopping the cancer away, like a baws! Remember that you will have an awesome hyper modern prosthetic. Super powers ensured!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So you re going to get one of those awesome 3D printed legs? It s scary going into this, but at least there are beautiful options to look...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Forward to. There have been so many advancements that some new prosthetics are more efficient than bio legs...some examples that might make

Pop that shit off like a Lego arm man.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know this may seem dumb, but you can get some sweet practical jokes in~ Mark it down as something that can be fun to come out of it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not sure how many prosthetists are on this site, but I fit amputees with prosthetic devices so if you have any questions let me know.

Hey! I'm a physio working with amputees, ask me anything if you'd like. :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Terry fox had cancer somewhere near there. He ended up dead, but left as a legend. You can do it!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I had a different type of cancer and had to have a below the knee amputation. I’m here to tell you it’s all for the best. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And everything is going to be alright.2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad's recently been diagnosed with a sarcoma right in his inner thigh. Depending on how things go he may be looking at a whole leg 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

amputation. We're all so anxious and he's suffering so. As somebody further along in the process how are you finding it? 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm just looking for hope and some idea of what to expect I guess... right now he's in so much pain. I've so much sympathy for you. 3/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep strong. And sending you so many good wishes. Hope it all turns out well. 4/4

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can I ask what you went through up until this point? You’ve got this @OP!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not a whole lot really. About 5 years ago some discomfort then pain, had an arthro to cut it out, said it was benign, few years later..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same discomfort then pain but more. Another arthro and they said it's cancer. A month later I'm being told it's all l gotta go :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So sorry that you’ve had to go through this :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On a positive note you can now get a tattoo on the leg that reads "One foot in the grave"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How old are you? Sorry for the situation

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

30

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Shit , I’m 32,,, what was the symptoms? How did this all start?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I'm 32 as well :/ maybe time for me to do a real checkup

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just discomfort in my knee, eventually pain. I had an arthro and a bunch was cut out but misdiagnosed. It came back years later...

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

My uncle only has one leg- do as he did and embrace it! Get a boat, a gold earring, a small dog/parrot!

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

but don't forget the very small butt plug for the parrot

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Uh?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

pirates, parrots, get the picture? or are you giving me the cold shoulder

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you want shit from a colorful pigeon your shoulder?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

First, you have to realize you're a Damn champion for fighting this. Cancer sucks but you're not rolling over. (1/?)

8 years ago | Likes 444 Dislikes 4

A champion ... like the three legged dog Champion from Parks and Rec?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

... I did not intend for that... But Dammit that's funny

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You've got to remember not just to see the bad but see that you're gonna still be standing after this (no pun intended). (2/?)

8 years ago | Likes 286 Dislikes 0

Yes it's scary and it's fed gonna take a while to get used to but like someone else said, with the advances in prosthetics, you'll be (3/?)

8 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 0

Up and about in no time! Just remember that through it all, you're still you and YOU fought through the Shit. Life threw a curveball (4/?)

8 years ago | Likes 197 Dislikes 0

This hits really close to home. Let me just say that the people who love you, will always be grateful for you still being alive 1/2
