People complain when they think things can be fixed. When people stop complaining, but nothing has been done to fix the problem, it's either b/c they are defeated or they have realized that complaining won't work and are moving on to more drastic measures. Marches in the streets, etc aren't doing anything. Next step would be general strikes. These people only listen when you fuck with the money. Labor creates value. Halt labor, halt money.

Reason I saw this ... the tensions are increasing between law / military / ice and civilians. The logical and ugly conclusion of it if it keeps going like this is wide scale violence; basically the mob getting sick of it and running into the streets calling for blood and dragging folks out to beat them to death. That's a nigh reactionary and ugly escalation. An interim step is general strikes. But, those have to be planned before folks just lose their cool and the pressure valve blows.

As chance would have it, only yesterday I watched a YT-video walking through how an innocent man was arrested due to mistaken identity by a face recognition AI at a casino. The AI said that it was a 99.8% match. To be fair, the people interpreting the result were idiots.

I recently re-watched Idiocracy. Quite a bit of it is commenting upon the justice system. At one point the MC gets implicated with an automatic system which sprayed sedatives in the face of a woman with starving children, and the police appeared to take care of the unfit mother. Given the premise of the movie, that things are like they are because of evolutionary pressure, I think that the automated system was not completely immoral.

I think that a big drawback as to how sci-fi is generally discussing "real", android, AI. Most of the time, writers have treated the subject like the acid test for real intelligence is if the AI can be evil.

Maybe. I prefer, when possible, to give the benefit of the doubt, and when this shit first started happening, a case of implicit racism, rather than malice was at least a feasible explanation. As the saying goes "never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by simple stupidity."
