Just got a job at a Title 1 school. Pay isn't great, but student loans forgiven after 5 years teaching.

This website makes me feel like I'm the only one who worked at least one job all through college to keep his debt in check. Wild, right?

I keep seeing people complain about student loans, but I think its more that people dont understand any personal finance.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have $3100 to go!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess who got no student loans? Yes you're right, thats me. Why don't i have student loans? Cus i'm from germany. lol

Jokes on you, I never went back to school..... Oh wait

This is funny and so realistically sad at the same time.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In the UK, student loans are cancelled if you haven't payed it off in 30 years

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Over 1 trillion in outstanding student loans. Plug that into your model of impending economic Armageddon.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I got my degree at West Virginia Junior College!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It only takes 10 years. Then onto a 30 year mortgage.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Spent 8 years in the military and had the option to use my GI Bill. Said hell with that, got my CDL and make 70k a year and benefits

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Considering most imgurian lifestyle choices, I'd give you 75 years tops.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Based on both grandpa's I will probably make it to 76. If my dad drops in 24 years when he is 76, I'll start to feel good about this number.

I paid my loans off in 4 years

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Good for you. Most of the people here are art majors.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

What's your degree in?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I went with a trade skill.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Start out at community college, it's a far cheaper road.

9 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 4

I'm in my freshman year of college at a community college, and even looking at just one year so far it's much cheaper

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i'll retroactively get right on that

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

There are

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

With grants I got paid to go. $1500 per semester for tuition + books, while getting $3000 per semester in grant money. Got to keep the extra

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everyone gets this. It's also depending on nation and income level.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except for me. I had undergrad tuition scholarship still have $300,000.00 of debt from medical school

Working on Doctorate in PT. I'm two bachelors 120k in the hole.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It has its down falls, you start out way behind your junior year when you're looking for contacts and lab experience, and looking toward gra

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah but beware; they'll lie right to your damn face about what does and does not transfer.

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Always meet with a rep from the college(s) you plan to attend.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactamundo. My bf was told take take and pay for unecessarily bc they didn't "realize " they were non-transferable to his university

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's why you check with both the university you want to transfer to and the CC, then ask them both about discrepancies.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also my cousin in law had to stay an entire additional year to finish the transferable creditsbc they packed her sched. w/ one's that"were"

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did exactly that. And with a scholarship or two, my parents paid off the debt in three years.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Congrats on having parents with money.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ha, we're hardly rich. They just don't throw it away on stupid things.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

If thats what you think you had a pretty padded childhood I'd guess.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Here in south africa our students have gone on strike for free education. #FeesMustFall and set a few campus on fire.

9 years ago | Likes 295 Dislikes 16

That last part is not encouraging.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There definitely is a problem here in the US but free education is definitely not the answer. The market is already saturated with degrees

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

In America they'd call us entitled brats or something.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

oh wait, they already do that.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Yep that's a good way to deal with your problems. Don't like something, set it on fire. Very civilized, rational. Reminds me of ferguson.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fall but not free. Let's work on affordable education. Not a system that gets bankers more wealth.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Seriously though, if every student refused to sign back up due to fees, they would have to change! It's a pipe dream though

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

In SA we have a fund which provides bursary for poor students, when they qualify and get jobs must pay back the fund, at verylow interest.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

but only 20% of ppl have paid back the fund at all , so new students cant get loans.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The other part of that would be getting everyone regardless of economic status to follow through.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Oh, is this an example of "We'll burn the bridge when we get to it"?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, it wouldn't be south africa without a little arson

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now they're going to have to raise their fees so they can replace the shit that got burned up. I don't think this was thought through.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

In SA we celebrate riots, 3 of our public holidays are dedicated to historical marches/riots. Our most famous leader- Mandela started an...

organisation that planted bombs in night clubs and burned schools. So yeah.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Setting fire to the thing you want provided for free may not be the best plan.

Welcome to South Africa (or most African countries actually), land of all the sense

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

They really need schools for common sense before they start thinking about careers.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Dang, that's extreme. I would never do something like that. I'd get caught.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, I'm not.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in the last attack cops caught 17 students; currently suspended from Uni, awaiting trial with police.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would but one more school fire and I'm in prison for mega arson

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Ma-ma-ma-mega arson

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

where is the gif of the guy wearing cardboard that turns around and becomes one with the environment when you need it?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Haha, I didn't think of that. Now, you see why'd I get caught. I was a lurker for a couple of year and finally made an account in January.

He was killed too.

Yea the holocaust was definitely ended through protests or diplomacy

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Totally the same thing. I would agree terrorism won't be defeated through peaceful protests but changing the price of college?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We got civil rights through peaceful protest. Also Gandhi. Just Gandhi.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Yeah. Fuck Gandhi.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Gandhi was peaceful. All of his followers... Less so. Chauri Chauri incident, etc. Not that they lacked cause to be angry.

You don't need to take student loans... It isn't the nation's fault for y'all to make bad financial decisions.

the only free ride is the one afforded for all. such rides are not even existent in amusement parks.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In one hand, you have decades of crippling debt. In the other you have working yourself to death while trying to keep up with your studies.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Or, you don't take a full year or semester of college... You only take what you can afford. But this will get down voted too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Decades? That's only if you decide to make only minimum payments. My wife and I are paying off her school debt. Will be done in 2 years.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm buying a house at 22... I didn't go to college.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Congratulations! Some people have to work two jobs in order to pay rent, and consider electricity a luxury.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Idk, what I am doing is easy. I simply put forth effort to try to not be a burden on any one else. I don't do illegal things and think "will

I ever regret this" on most decisions I make. "Can I afford this?" "Do I need this" what are my goals? Does this help me attain my goals...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Instead of paying rent I am buying a small house so I can start to build equity, actually it is cheaper than renting an apartment by about

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

$100 (where I live). So there u go, instead of giving my money away, I am investing it, in myself. I also am single. Why? I can't afford
