Every time I see this I wonder why the black spots are where they are.

My pinni.made up on the spot for my first security door at an office and it has been the same since. Same with my 26 character password I invented in the spot for my file server

I cannot watch any video that keeps saying "PIN Numbers", especially if I have to look at a chart the whole time that says "PIN Numbers".

i made an interactive version for easier viewing:

My code was randomly generated and memorized.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

gets better at least Joshua is no longer one of the most used password variants

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just us the number that was sent to me.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yay mine is among the less common.

My mother got mad at me for using a 6 digit PIN, because in an emergency I wouldn't be able to quickly enter it backwards into the ATM to send a silent alarm, and therefore it was less safe than a 4 digit PIN. The backwards number isn't even a thing, how would that work for people with palindrome PINs, and I'm pretty sure I can invert a 6 digit number in my head just as easily.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now people will start using the least common pins, rendering them common. If I were a hacker, I would add this list to my tool bag. Safety is being a needle in a stack of needles.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They should really colour it differently. Darker for more common would be more obvious.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like my Pin of 6935 is pretty safe. No wait.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm still not clear why it matters, if the system locks you out after a couple wrong guesses, then you only really need something that won't be the first guess like 1234 or 1111. And most people are getting them through phishing attempts where they just get you to tell them.

Canadian here: I have never understood why Americans stick with 4-digit pins instead of 6-digit pins like we have.

6969

Nice

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, you can be given a randomized number. It's only 4 digits to remember. You people using 6969 lmao

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9696. Oh boy, how many boobs are there I wonder.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I selected a pin by rolling 4D10s and using whatever came up.

That is one the worsts graphics ive ever seen

I remember reading an article about it, when reading was the preferred alternative over watching a video of a guy explaining things. http://www.datagenetics.com/blog/september32012/

3944 is far too obvious. Better use 4493 instead.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They scrubbed the numbers off so people wouldn’t know which ones they were pushing. Smort.

The light is green, it's already open!

Does anyone else see the grid pattern?

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

DataGenetics, who made the heatmap, explained it like this:
"The lighter areas corresponding to couplets of numbers that are close to each other. For some reason, people don't like to select pairs of numbers that have larger numerical gaps between them. Combinations like 45 and 67 occur much more frequently than things like 29 and 37 "

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wont say what I do but I have seen a pin setup that didn't allow those combinations you've mentioned.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My bank doesn’t allow it

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey! My PIN is the least common!

I should not have said that.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had not thought this format of people filming themselves talking about what's behind them that you can't really see correctly had an even worse development.. oh my.

1 week ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 1

The main reason I'm not going to listen to this is the floating pointing guy.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've read that apparently the videos get significantly more views if they stick their floating head in the frame like that. People want to see the person talking, I guess.

1 week ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

It makes it feel more personal. And it kind of serves as a slight barrier in the "is this AI" category

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's so insane to me, because I feel like I prefer when I can't see the person explaining whatever.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Means more effort, that someone cared, its not AI, and they're probably trustworthy if they're staking their reputation on something.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reactions in a nutshell then. I always preferred streams where you don't see the person in the corner. I really like giving a mental image to the voice instead.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I guess it worked, we all just watched it and I can say I've never seen a PIN heat map before

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have, actually. This is functionally a repost, so it's not too surprising.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh well, there goes my comment lost in an erorr

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By that logic everything works though. We see just about every format on imgur in just a few postsl

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How the hell would you have this info??

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He says it's form data breaches, I think

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

How are passwords even available as data. Is this that kyosk that stored card numbers in the machine as plain text?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He says it like 10 seconds in. When you reset your pin number for whatever reason, your old one goes into the statistics.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So that's why it doesn't let you repeat it and knows when you try to same one again. PINs fascinate me because yours most likely is shared with a bunch of other people by chance.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you can go ahead and drop the "most likely". There is 10,000 possible pin numbers, you share your pin number with at least one million people. If its repeating digits you probably share it with 50 million people.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: SCUBA is an acronym for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
Another fun fact: TUBA is also an acronym. It stands for Terrible Underwater Breathing Apparatus!

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to work at aplace where this was a valid sentence:
User the SCIT in the SCT to do SCT.

All 3 actonyms pronounced like "skit". The SC stands for "structural coverage". This is a software testing thing.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well that can't exactly call it PI Number as then everyone will pick 3141. xD

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure every PIN is a Pi Number if you generate sufficient digits. I feel a weekend project coming on.

Thank you. I know we say it, but dang it. It shouldn't be presented on a chart.

Called RAS syndrome

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAS_syndrome

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting.

Most of their examples are good. But potentially, DC comics is not. Detective Comics is the brand name, so referring specifically to their comic books sounds redundant but really isn't. "I prefer to read DC comics," for instance.

It sounds weird to say, "DC Comics' best films are from the Batman franchise" instead of just, "DC's best films are from the Batman franchise."
