I lent my 1st edition DM Guide to a friend. His house burned down, but my DMG survived with a charred cover and burns around the edges of the pages. It’s terrifying when I whip that out!

I found an AD&D monster manual missing a few pages at Goodwill the day before my wedding. Had the officiant use it as the book they were holding during the ceremony (had the hide the mic somewhere)
