I don’t just draw Pokemon, I also like to draw sharks reimagined as puppies!
It’s based off of the wordplay over the fact that baby sharks are called ‘pups’. So I took that to it’s natural characterization and started an art project called ‘Sharkpups’ where I take real shark species and redraw them. This is what I have in the series so far!

The Thresher Sharkpup! It’s tail makes up half of it’s body length allowing them to be fast and agile.

The Hammerhead Sharkpup! There are no known advantages to their odd headshape. There just aren’t any disadvantages strong enough to kill off this particular mutation so it remained.

The Leopard Sharkpup! They live in schools/packs with strong dominance based hierarchy, with the larger/older sharks usually bullying the smaller/young ones to take their food.

The Mako Sharkpup! The fastest fish in the sea, these sharks are also considered one of the most intelligent and have been observed to know the different between tour/research boats and fishing/poaching ones. They lose their teeth super often, and their teeth are the most common kind to be found in necklaces.

The Great White Sharkpup! They’re such strong swimmers they can breach their entire body out of the water from a short distance.

The Tiger Sharkpup! They’ll eat literally anything and many random manmade objects have been found in their stomachs - although it’s debatable if that’s a statement on the shark’s appetite or on the ocean’s pollution problem.

The Whale Sharkpup! The largest fish species currently alive, it’s not just whalesized but also is a filter feeder of plankton just like many whales. It’s crazy how such small organisms sustain such large ones.

The Nurse Sharkpup! Rather than chomp, their jaws are designed to suck up food from the ocean floor.

The Lemon Sharkpup! One of the friendlier species they’ll stick to popular tourist spots because they know tourists will give them treats.

The Bull Sharkpup! This stocky species can survive in freshwater and will swim upstream in heavy rains to hunt. Likely the species that caused the shark panic in New Jersey that inspired JAWS.

The Zebra Sharkpup! They’re spotty as adults but striped as young, so for a long time they were classified as two different species. In some countries this species is also known as the Leopard Shark which causes some confusion.

The CookieCutter Sharkpup! These small sharks hunt by latching onto their larger prey and using their large bottom teeth to cut out a circular chunk, looking like someone took a cookie cutter to their flesh. They have no fear and try to eat from submarines. They scare the crap out of me.

The Basking Sharkpup! One of my favourites, this is the second largest shark species. They filterfeed plankton using their huge mouths.

The Blacktip Reef Sharkpup! This species has the smallest territory of any shark and is extremely shy.

I do this series once a weekly, usually Mondays, on my Instagram! Each Sharkpup post also includes information about the species, which has been great fun learning!
*edit* I plan on covering as many species as possible, including prehistoric and deep sea!

Aw thank you! Right now I draw on a dying tablet that can’t handle the live-streaming but I’m rebuilding my workstation and hope to soon!

Hammer head shark puppy just wants treats... He so goofy looking I love it even tho I don't really like sharks you made them relatable.

Honestly the best compliments are the ones where people tell me the art series helped them relate better to sharks beyond movies monsters

I’m a big advocate for shark/ocean conservation! Even if I just change one person’s mind to help support conservation I’ll be ecstatic

The lemon shark pup is precious beyond words

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Last I checked, hammerhead's large head allows it to have extra electrical sensors so it can find hidden prey such as rays.

Oh my gods the blacktip reef sharkpup it’s so cute I want 10

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: in albanian a shark is called "peshkaqen" which is a combination of fish (peshk) and dog (qen) so this post is very accurate to it

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

In Italian too!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Apparently it’s like that in a few languages! I like that the shark/dog pun works globally

No known advantage to the hammerhead shark? He has a 360° field of view!

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Doesn't the shape also help them sweep the floor with their sensory organs, looking for food?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nvm, someone else already asked.

They’re coming up, as is the Megladon! I only just started this project.

Any remote chance the Megalodon could have a background reminiscent of The Beast from Sandlot? Awesome comics, by the way.

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I just imagine it trying to grab it's ball and missing every time cause it can't see it.

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

They've got the widest field of vision of any shark thanks to its head shape actually so it could grab the ball and play all it wants :)

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

True, but they often find their food through electrical signals, not by sight. At least especially not so close
