Thank God that guy was roped off, he could have gotten hurt. Good God people don't know how to drop trees sometimes even professionals have brain farts. I've been clearing trees off this new property now for 2 months and I know when I could drop a tree safely and when I have to get a professional to do it

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He got hurt. He definitely got hurt, being ragdolled like that and getting his arm wound int he rope. But he's probably alive, once he revives from the shock of it.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is some final destination kind of stuff. Dude almost dies 9 ways. That trunk on the bucket! Yeesh!

9 months ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 2

The trunk didn't hit him directly, the perceptive makes it look like that though. It hit the boom arm behind him and the impact there yeets the bucket down. If it it hit him it would've crushed him into the bucket.

Idiot. You don’t trim a tree with forty foot above you from an aerial platform. There’s nowhere to run

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Some lessons you don't live to learn from. He might though, by sheer luck. Probably not without brain damage though.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lmao, that title got me
+1

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's okay, he's already survived the 1960's playground equipment. 🛝

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

hitting the boom lift AND the shed is A+ work.

9 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

They even had a line tied to the backhoe, but it wasn't even taut. But it looks like it wasn't even in the right position to miss the shed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"at leasr we didn't hit the house."

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

... but there is still some day light and half a tree left

"Why do I need to be tethered? I'm already safe inside a bucket."

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't tell, did it hit the top of his head first, or the boom? That's a wild ride of injuries though. Concussion, broken arm, possible skull and spinal injuries, probably a rib or two. Yeeesh.

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

we need follow up on that poor guy

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd wager that shoulder is out of socket too :/ I'd think the restraint is too long and the momentum is too great to do much good... A long list of errors - even from a novice's view

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought it hit his head at first, but it looks like it hit the boom. He'd have crumpled into the bucket before the force was enough to move the boom if he was the first point of impact. Instead, the bucket gets taken out from under him.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think so! You blow it up and slow it down and you can see the limb DOES hit him on top of his head almost simultaneous with hitting the boom. Hard to tell if he had already started a downward movement from the boom strike a literal split second before contact, which would probably make a huge difference in damage to his head.

Oh no I didn’t catch the ball in the cup! Wait a minute...it’s ok because the ball is on a string and attached to the cup!

jump up, jump up and get down

“…and it was then that my training kicked in!”

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of all the ways this could have gone wrong, it did.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This kills the shed.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

bruh went through one hell of a rollercoaster right there

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not understanding what the goal was here. The tether is supposed to pull the falling piece away from the stuff you don't want it to crash into. This looks like they had it pulling towards the bucket over the shed.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And a situation like this you use 2 lines, to make sure it can only fall somewhere in between them.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And what lessons did we learn today?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tried to save time by not trimming the branches higher up probably.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Weeeeeee!!!

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Is he dead ?

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah, only Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt from "Mission Impossible") engages in such ridiculous and unbelievable stunts for no reason whatsoever

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, you have a boom that will reach the higher branches of that tree. Use it!!!
I’m kind of worried his arm got tangled up in the safety rope while he was bouncing around. He didn’t hit the ground, but he’s probably still injured.

9 months ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 1

Yeah, that arm is broken for sure

9 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

He's all pain. The way his chest impacted the bucket before trying to make orbit had to have cracked or broken ribs. Then the yank on the rope, and the spin. Likely never get follow up cus the speed of stuff on the net, but I'm very curious how bad it was.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I guess he wanted to miss the Roof the Tree was hanging about.. BUT USE A BUNGEE Rope not a Rope. They tried to pull it away, the moment the tension was gone the tree went his own way. For pulling down a Tree use stiff rope, for directing it's fall, as Stretchy a possible.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

I’m a tree guy. This is so wrong. Don’t listen to this

9 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

How they have done it as well, the excavator started moving way to late. You use either a stiff rope, cutt into the tree and Pull it into the direction you want. OR you have a loaded stretchy rope for safety that the tree doesn't decide to change it's direction like did here. In this situation the Rope was more a Hazard then help, thats why you don't use 'Safety' ropes at all normaly. Only stiff ropes to pull the Tree down in the correct direction, when the cutter is as far away as possible.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Not an ex. Most likely a rock grapple on a skid steer judging from the corner of the attachment. You tighten up more after the notch and pull on the back cut but not too much to cause a barber chair. Never use a bungee rope. Ever. “Safety” rope. Idk what that means. There are rigging lines and tag lines. This is a tag line and obviously not done properly but again. Never use a bungee or stretchy. Idk who taught you that but disregard it fully. I do this professionally and safety is paramount.

What you’re saying is dangerous and just plain wrong. Not trying to be a dick but - I don’t want people to see that advice and use it then get themselves fucked up or dead. Hire professionals if it’s more than you know is how I’ll leave that.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Always hire a licenced professional

9 months ago | Likes 288 Dislikes 2

He is a licensed professional. Not a licensed professional Arborist obviously.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a bucket truck and and at least a skid steer in frame. He actually wore, and hooked up, his fall vest. These might be licensed professionals. Scary thought, huh?

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No

This clown may have had a license but didn't have enough training. It should have come down piece by piece, starting at the top. There's not enough room to safely take it down at ground level (where you can get away once it starts to fall). Trying to take a tree down from the middle is a recipe for disaster.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

it's only a little spinal damage, geez! and that hole in the shed roof? just put some expanding foam in it and cover it with a tarp, it'll be fine.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. I hired a company to remove a “widow maker” branch from a 100+ year old maple tree that was too close to the house and roof. There was one guy in the tree in a climbing harness setup and three people on the ground working the ropes to guide the cut branches safely down. It was like ballet. Worth every penny.

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

forget the licence, always hire an insured professional!

9 months ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

u must live in logging area like me? i doubt most states license "tree cutting service". when i had our 270 year old douglas fir fell i called (friends' friend) loggers insurance agent to ask if covered, yes, but the agent said i was the first one who called in 20 years. i have pics of logging in neighborhoods gone wrong if i can find them. if no place to fell tree is cut in 1-2' pieces. sometimes dropped or must be tied with rope and pulley down

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

do they also cover accidentally illegally cutting down trees?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I paid $2200 to get two massive trees removed... All very close within my house and next to the neighbours house. They and 5million in liability.

👍🏼Nothing's damaged, trees removed, debris gone, and I got firewood for campfires for the next 4 years.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Who can also make mistakes. Maybe this was a licensed professional? He did have a safety line.

9 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

They might be a professional, but ss a person who knows little about tree felling, it seems like the more professional thing to do would be to remove the tree limbs before cutting the thing in half and just letting it fall wherever it likes.

9 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Hey a license doesn't mean you are good at it. Look at drivers 90% of them have licenses and look at how well they do. A license is just proof they can pass through whatever barriers to get it.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This. No truly professional tree service would cut a tree that way. Cut the limbs, starting near the bottom.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

A Lotta people can be "professionals" but still majorly suck at what they're doing. I've been in the service industry gor pest control for over a decade I've met extremely incompetent "professionals" lmao

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

They do have a rope tied to the tree but it does absolutely nothing to stop it from falling on the garage.

Rooted by his principles, the tree would not leaf before casting out his own branch of justice.

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ok that one is not the guys fault

9 months ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 3

…and the horse you rode in on!

9 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If you wrote that into a script, it would be rejected for being too unrealistic.

9 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

We would see limbs come down almost a minute later it seemed. I think if a branch snaps just right it can shoot like an arrow

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and if you tried to make it happen you'd be there a whole ass month with 1000+ takes & still not even close to getting it done...
