Because Poland is becoming a right wing fascist friendly state, but if you're into that sort of thing you can always bog off to there.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 10

Because Poland recently had a far right rally with 60K attendees??

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 16

Over 100k shows where you get your info from.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

whats the gain?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

1. to teach the younger generation in the audience that some symbols should be fought with, 2. to never forget the history, 3. pride I guess

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

You don't know much about 2018 Poland, do you?

8 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 6

Or 1930 Poland

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a Polish football match. Those fans are most likely opposing communism because the ultras are all raging fascists. Bit of a problem.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Isnt this Legia warsaw who was suspended from Champions league for antisemitism?

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 4

Nope. Wrong club colors. That's Jagiellonia Białystok.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Ok, thanks.

They also saw the holocaust up close and personal. Yet they move toward fascism. Hmm.

Really? more like Poland, REALLY???

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 13

Imgur has a hard on for poland, I don't even know why. They think it's a haven against extremism because of their past.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Protesting against non-existant threat, that's gone for almost 30 years already ?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

People do the same thing in other western countries with other nonexistent threats

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Fascism only works if there's an enemy threat, made up or not

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Hey, if it's not the jews, you can always use the muslims for that. Communism is harder because you can't just look at their dick to see it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you cannot identify them then the enemy could be everywhere!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fuck communism in every way

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 16

Don’t worry. The people that downvote you also want to remove your freedom of speech, religion, right to assemble, bare arms, et alias.

Poland had always been in a tough spot between Germany and Russia. They're doing the best they can.

8 years ago | Likes 125 Dislikes 19

but can they into space?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're like a more nationalistic version of Slovakia, that has a harder time accepting being ruled over.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't know if you ever visited Russia and Germany, but if you are going to pick one friend, I would def pick Germany.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

I would now, much harder choice in 1939 I think

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

fair enough

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of nazis in poland right now though. Very far right at least. Don't know if that's something you should applaud them for.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 11

Let's condemn all Poles for some derps. Way to go, moron.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

That's how imgur reduces every complex political issue, to simple broad generalisations, that suit their world view.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

"A lot of" is not the same as "all". Way to exaggerate, buddy.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Funny, I never met one. I wonder where do they hide whenever I'm outside.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 13

Yea, never seen them the 15 times i've visited poland either. Met a lot of awesome Polaks and gotten drunk on vodka tho, Kurwa mać !

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

dude, literally today I saw a new graffitti with "fuck islam, kill all muslims" and studying with foreigners i can say - a lot of racism :(

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Because they always are skinheads and shout "fuck immigrants" all the time... Your election results are more visible. Fuck the PiS.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Thank the religious elderly, PiS bible thumping, and apathetic youth. PiS winning is a testament to prevalence of Catholicism.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

My bad. Kukiz looks kind of scary too though. There is a certain shift to the right, but that's happening in all of europe I'm afraid.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 16

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 16

Weird trend going on on social media praising poles as being the perfect political center 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Because "historically" they should be against both nazis and communists. The reality is different, more on the nazi side of things 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Americans are really ignorant mate even the brightess are very naive, just a little bit of asking a normal european will tell what these 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Clowns in poland really are 2/2.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's all emotions and not a lot of facts. They vote for someone they know from tv or looks/sounds right. Education system got a toll on them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They experienced communism/socialism firsthand and know its dangers. Western college students like to ignore these people's voices.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 24

Western college students don't know their ass from a hole in the ground

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yeah, because most of them are marxist not stalinist/leninist.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

They also lived through the extermination of the Jews and yet still hate the Jews.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Aren't the polish infamously racist?

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 13

Yes but OP and a bunch of Imgur likes pushing their political agendas whenever they can.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

I wouldn't call it an agenda, it's a mixture of ignorance and sympathie for right wing populism I think.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Oh maybe just someone who detests communism. Good reasons to.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I find it is often non-Europeans who should have read more on European politics before posting. Our shit is VERY complicated right now.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True, though the same is happening over there. It's hard to see with only two parties.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're right, and to be fair, a lot of us Euros should read up more on American politics too before we run our mouths too much.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is there an image glorifying fascist football ultras ... on the front page of this site?

8 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 13

It looks like the hammer and sickle in a "no" symbol, and the west is in a "fuck russia" mood

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing 99% of the upvoters have no idea of the context. If it were a swastika it would get the same response no matter who held it.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Looks more like anti communism than fascism to me. But communists usually have a hard time seperating the two.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's not surprising.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty simple explanation, people upvoted it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...yeah, be one off the most unapologetically racist societies in Europe. Incredibly racist.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 19

Pretty low crime rates, though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

In poland? It's kind of a running gag that poles will steal anything. My polish friends make those jokes.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well I'm having a hard time finding statistics that don't favor Poland in terms of low crime rates in Europe. But yeah, anecdotes. Ok.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's because many polish criminals come to Germany and other neighbouring country to do their dirty deeds. Anecdotes, yeah!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Meanwhile, stupid people in western countries that never experienced communism would love to have it

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

Poland is in political crisis with the independence of the judiciary completely eroded by the ruling party. So maybe not.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Monks in hospitals are payed better than hospital staff, Viva la Poland.

8 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 5

paid*, though I oddly admire your use of French.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

Monks works in hospitals in Poland? Doing what? I've never heard of this before.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Many nuns in the old europe are registered nurses. I know a few Augustinian nuns that are medical doctors, logic tells me monks, not (1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

parish priests would apply their abilities to medicine as well.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poland is one of (perhaps THE) most religious countries in Europe.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

well, i mean, there's the Vatican, but other than that, sure

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a way of saying that the clergy is better paid than the medical staff, wether those monks work in a hospital or church

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ah. The phrasing confused me, then. That does seem like a problem, yeah. Either one's underpaid or one severely overpaid.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Presumably last rights, working hospital chapels, or attending other religious services

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Wow. I've never lived in a culturally Christian country, so all of that sounds super weird to me.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

May I ask what's your country's main religion? I think that, in most parts of the world, people ask for a religious figure on their deathbed

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I won’t, I’m disgusted by people prying at the border against immigrants.

Why isn't for example Austria the most racist nation in the world then?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Poland had to fight off invasions for centuries. German and Russian ones. They did fight the Ottomans in Austria once though, but that's it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

the problem with the judicary system in poland is there are no checks and balances. they never cleaned house after the communist periond

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 32

Exactly

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Communism fell in Poland 30 yrs ago. Judges, not overly known for their youthful vigour have surely been cleaned out by you know... Death?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 8

also, as many judges were about 30/35 year old when communis fell they are still there, ablait each year in smaller numbers.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Even if its true that all judges are communists (laughable) wait 5 yrs. Instead they're handing judge appointments to corrupt politicians?!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i never said that they are all communist m8. And they are not apointed by politicians. There is a council with politicians AND judges

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are partially right. Exept they choose their successors often their offspring, so the same web of interest stays in place

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Judges don't pick judges, a legal body does. Did, sorry, now it's done by politicians, those unbiased, even-minded, politicians

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

judges were picked by the KRS. State court councill. 25 ppl, 18 judges. so yeah, judges pick judges,

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It became a quasi cast system

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I can't find a single google result on 'father and son judge Poland' or similar searches, if you can?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Brit I never forget the debt we owe the Poles. Battle of Britain, Arnhem, Enigma... and then we abandoned them to the USSR..shame on us

8 years ago | Likes 341 Dislikes 14

Then by all means, go and pay off this "debt" because as an 80s child, I bare zero responsibility for my forebears.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

As an American. We all did, damn shame.

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

Well, then there's the debt owed to USSR for, umm, basically winning the whole war for everybody?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

one that we repaid by fabricating a cold war and ostracising the soviet union for being 'filthy commies' just to keep up an arms race.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am a Pole living in the UK and as much as I appreciate the English it's sad many of them simply don't know about all this 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So thank you for remembering and being grateful to the people - I will myself forever be grateful to. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well that was to stop total war with a communist power and then you know, avoiding total atomic annihilation! Fyi, I'm also British.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

or what we did to the serbs, we asked them to sacrifice most of their population in ww1 and ww2 ...then we bombed the shit out of them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Serbia joined ww1 before we did and ww2 it was full of Nazis. The fuck were we supposed to do?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think it way more shameful what Britain did to Czechoslovakia. That was a literal cowardly backstab.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's was kindof because we stupidly tried to fight for the Suez canal. Sorry about that...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sad reality is, what could Britain have done? Country was spent after 5 years of war, we couldn't fight the USSR.

8 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

Is it? First of all treaty signed before war between GB FRA and PL stated that if one will be attacked the other two will declare war 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Allied forces couldve definatley beat back the soviets albeit it'd cost millions more lives on all sides

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How about an arrangement where people from Poland can come and work in UK to bring up their standard of living?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Are you serious? Polish do not need "Mercy". Just equal and just opportunities.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They declared war and did nothing for a year leaving Poland in the hands of Nazi. They would not have been able fight east and west at once.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No one except the US could, in theory. We weren't keen on the idea either though.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Even with all its military might. The US wouldn't in any way be a guaranteed victory in an offensive war with the USSR. It was huge, and

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

We were in possession of, and willing to use atomic weapons at that point in time though. One on Moscow and things would have been simpler

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So did they. One on Moscow would mean hundreds flying towards every major US city in range.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

with a long history of using attrition superbly against a stronger foe. The most likely outcome is that the US would face massive unrest

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

in their own nation caused by waning war support. Just take a look at Korea and Vietnam.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As a german, I better not join in on this conversation

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Then why are you joining in?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Sshhh you. Let humour prevail. Don't politics.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the world of British cynicism my friend, that was sarcasm

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bad sarcasm, needs to be more overt so you don't ostracise hoi polloi like myself.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why, Russia is the one who over through Poland not you guys.....wait. Nm

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't forget the czechs

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I give them credit for being the only country east of France that had a genuine elected government in 1938 rather than a strongman.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Poland invaded part of the country in 1938 giving Germany and Hungary extra justification for their own grabs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Czech, ahh, surrendered without a fight and gave the Wehrmacht their excellent tanks and superlative weapon factories.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Because there were so many germans living in the czechoslovakia at the time.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, the Slovaks put a worse show. They backstabbed the Czechs and went full Nazis. And Benes was so disappointing in 38.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmm, I always thought it was more of a US failure, then I just read about the Moscow Conf. Still very sad either way

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Honestly I'd hardly call it a failure for anyone. What were we going to do? Fight the massive-already mobilized USSR? It would be a disaster

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

True, we were hardly in a position to dictate terms to our erstwhile ally

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Exactly this. Not only had they been allies, they had arguably the biggest stick at the time

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually Gen. George Patton petitioned this very thing directly after taking Berlin. He said we already had the army there so keep going

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And was it a good idea?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Considering how things went after that, I'd say its debatable

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, truth be said, you did all you can. You could barely, just barely keep the Germans out of England, and you spent your empire for that

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not true. 6 million poles died by German/Russian hands in ww2. That's bigger then my entire city. It could have been prevented

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if we helped Poland then we had to help Germany, Yugoslavia, the Baltic states, Romania, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This makes no sense, tho. Poland independence was guaranteed by Britain, and it was its ally, not the other countries.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Britain did offer Poland independence at the beginning before Russia was invaded. Britain couldn't fight Russia and the US didn't want to.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At the begining of what? In 1918? You're not very clear, please, post multiple posts, I don't understand what you mean.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would anyone want to help germany after ww2. Poland helped itself in ww2 and was the first country to get rid of the communists.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um, no. Germany was split in half remember, east Germany got fucked. Poland was also fucked during ww2 by both sides claiming to be (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Liberators. Please remember that Germany and the Nazi regime are two different things.

No, people that support communism = vry stupid. Comment about communist supporters not poles.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

O Yes Yes you very right. America right? The best place in history. My god. Let me guess: white guy, military background maybe?

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 60

Capitalists's soup kitchens are no better than Communists bread lines. Both system are bad but its the politicians that make them worse.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 35

We (world) lift every day more than 10k people out of extreme poverty. Communism so far has just created poverty, e.g. NK and Venezuela.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

That world average is very, very heavily influenced by the lifting of 1.4 billion people out of poverty in Communist China

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those bread lines existed because the government killed and exiled millions of farmers....

“Off grid” usually implies away from society, and you are engaging folks on imgur which would be “on grid”. Maybe the UK uses it differently
