I'm sorry... they're good dogs

Jan 27, 2025 2:54 AM

Sometimes, I find myself in a scroll loop, and it can become quite a problem of "I'll just do this after this next post," But the next post always becomes "the next post, " so I had to impose a new rule. Whenever I come across a Panko or Peanut post, I simply upvote the cute doggo and close the app.

I know they're good dogs, Bront, but I needed something to help me break my cycle of forever scrolling. Thanks for your service, Panko and Peanut!

Sounds like a very positive bookend to me

Right after the last "peanut" post ... so do I scroll until the next one now or?

Similar thing with Buscemi here.

That's a good system!

ME TOO!! šŸ˜‚

No body gonna tag @dennyson?

I absolutely love this idea. I’m going to borrow it from you cuz I go thru the same thing!

Panko & Peanut are also my upvoted bookmarks. Time to put the phone down. There’s also Liza Jane the third best doxie, tinier octopi on occasion, the odd pony, celery man, abbistabbi, the noodle cat, the embroidery person, but the dogs are my weakness! Goodnight from Navi & Traya

Mine is Celery XL. No need for confession beat!

That reminds me - I haven't seen a Felix Friday for a while.

App timers, mate. I saw once I spent like 3 hours here in one sitting, which was not an uncommon thing. So I put an 45 minute timer one. The difference it has made is phenomenal!

A panko, a peanut, a same picture of steve buscemi, a why isn't he in prison are all reminders of the circular imgur life of which I cannot escape.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I sort of do the same with elbowdeepinahorse since those start appearing around 5am in my time zone

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I have the same rule for the same reason.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You're doing it for a pretty good reason imo, especially if you're using that time for something productive or some self-care.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I fallowed pizza angels after i messaged someone days after the original post. I just can’t help by swipe

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Us too

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I've been doing that with the 5 werewolves posts. Love them, love the neat art, but it's my signal to go be productive.

Where is Mr burnt toast tho. Not seen for 2 months

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got to this post just after a Peanut post, so I guess I gotta go one more time all the way around the loop! /s

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't blame ya. I honestly feel I'm reaching my limit too. I will forever value the world news we see on here and how informed it's kept me but I also come here to escape all that and laugh for a few. It's also clear the new owners don't care what we think very much.

I use a 3 cat rule. Once I see three posts in usersub that are cat pics then it is time to sleep.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

unpopular opinion: I hate the word doggo

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey, making Panko the last thing you see means you're always going out on a positive note. Like, I legit tell my own dog I wish she was Panko (but I do it in a happy tone of voice so she gets excited about the attention)

I love you Panko!

1 year ago | Likes 359 Dislikes 17

I, too, love Panko. And Peanut. No need to ever meet them in person, either. So say we all.

1 year ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

However, I would totally go bonkers if I happened across either one of them.

I straight up forgot that I muted Panko until just now

I'm even worse: I block every "daily X" poster.

ditto

Gah! I hadn’t thought of doing that! Thank you!!!!

Samemm and dead pet posters

Yeah I had to block panko. 😬

I can block? Bonus!!!

The Michael Cera hidden were at least creative and got more creative, and he stopped after a year because the gimmick was tired. The "here's my dog every day" might as well be Facebook and I don't use Facebook for a reason.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I’d rather see original daily dog posts than reposts if TikTok & FB… *shrug*

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, not everyone will agree on what they like to see. I'm not keen on the reposts from TikTok or FB either, but it's not like the only options are lazy daily dog posts or those.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It gets tiring and some are just weird. Buscemi, the same dog all of the time, "1,xxx days until Trump is out of office" (fucking hell, dude), etc. At least others keep it fun.

1 year ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 3

Lots of people seem to think I like seeing rapists and fascists on my funny image site.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

"B-B-But if you don't stay informed and cling to every word they say, they win!"

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Yeah, it definitely gets old when it's the exact same image/pose every single time. I get that there are only so many way to take pictures of a pet, but at least vary it over time in cycles. At least repeating stuff like Terry the fat shark mix it up from week to week.

I honestly don't know how someone can take and post a picture of their pet every day. I love my pets, and they're certainly a good part of my camera roll, but every day? I love cats and dogs, but I seriously think north americans are weird about their pets.

1 year ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

narcissism

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I obsess over my cat because I know if I get a weird cough I can never afford to have it checked out.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many of the daily pet posts are from people not in North America. I see many from Australia & European countries.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Okay, eurocentric, english speaking countries then, they share the same culture.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To me it's like therapy . I love watching their sweet faces for a couple seconds and feel the love. I used to have pets but now i can't anymore so I miss that. To each his own

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I agree! I love seeing the original pet posts! šŸ¾ā¤ļøšŸ¾

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, and that is great!
But it isn't really something they should share with the world every day.
It is something private for them to enjoy, not public.
Most pets are cute, they might think theirs are above average, but statistically that won't be the case.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But, the person you are replying to appreciates that others are sharing their pets. I appreciate it, also. Why would sharing pet pictures be a ā€œprivateā€ thing? I would much rather people share their original pet photos than the crap reposts of Facebook & TikTok we usually have to suffer through.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Without trying to sound judgmental or make broad statements, I think a lot of the ways people in the western world treat their pets now is a reflection of the "epidemic" of loneliness. People don't have spouses, they don't have children, but they want something in their life that fills that void and a pet is an easy substitute.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That explains outliers, but not the general norms. Couples and families with kids are also frequently really weird about their pets. Throwing a dog a birthday party, stuff like that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't think throwing a dog a birthday party is a norm tbh.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

True. Excessive anthropomorphization is, though.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

I'd much rather block the so-called famous imgurians, who post a bunch of low effort shit posts, and get hailed as heroes somehow and get upvoted out of the wazoo.
Really makes me wonder why I bother with this mindless crowd.

I muted a well known imgurian who comments in the third person years ago. I don't have anything against them, I just thought they were extremely obnoxious to me and glad everyone else found it fun but I always hated their comments on EVERY POST. After muting them, I still saw all the comments until one random imgur update actually muted them, or they stopped commenting, not sure which.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Want to have something against them? It's a "just-following-orders" nutbag:

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I blocked the ponies and octopus long ago for those same reason. Worse are the artists blatantly advertising their patreon or etsy pages while pandering to imgur by sometimes incorporating whatever current trend is happening into their art in order to stay on the front page.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Hah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. My only exception is the guy who did badly Photoshoped cera stuff. I found that fun

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I once called out a certain equine post. They responded and mods deleted the entire thread. Rules for thee etc. Blocked them all.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I muted the horses at some point, then long time later decided to unmute as I thought I might’ve just been too harsh in the past ..that was such a quick ā€œNope, muteā€.

If anything the posts have gotten much worse than they used to be - nothing entertaining, just mindless horse themed drivel.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this is the part that bothered me the most. They were thoroughly and consecutively trying to skirt the rules by posting stuff that was heavily sex themed, but not specifically showing it. More than enough to plant the idea in your head. And most of it came down to bestiality.
Mods did fuck all the times I pointed it out though, and the regular people heralded them as a hero because they were going against the authorities.

Imgur benefits from engagement, they aren't going to punish a user that drives it.
