Resident Evil 6 had both online and split-screen co-op mode. I don't know why people hated that game, it was legitimately "not bad".

Let me tell you just how dumbfounding it is to get USB-HIDs to enumerate consistently. I want to support multiple kb/m combos in my game.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah... it's not like that's an easy thing for every game to do.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not even Halo does anymore, it broke a yearly tradition in my family...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cuphead.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That title gave me cancer

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Don't teach English as a foreign language then. I didn't even blink, just gave it a C because I got the point.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Try Dead Pixels.

I found this site helpful when looking for couch co-ops... http://www.co-optimus.com/games.php

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Current couch multiplayer games tend to be designed for it from the bottom up, so you just have to dig a little. I recommend (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime." It looks silly, but it's a fantastic game to play with 3-4 people. There's no online mode though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The technology just isn't there yet.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Nothing will ever beat the insanity of playing timesplitters 4 person local. Love that damn game

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TS1 and 2!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion: because video games are a luxury and if your bum friend wants to play, they should get their own. See also: making money.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If none of them offer it, you don't exactly have a choice.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All these years and I still don't have a local IPX/SPX network...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Overcooked, Screencheat, Nidhogg, Gang Beasts. All these have local multiplayer. Remember Imgurians, 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

/2 just because AAA companies have given up on local co-op, doesn’t mean the little guys have

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Board games have been on the rise in recent years. I'd recommend checking a few out

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They didn’t anticipate you having friends.

8 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 3

If you want to call the hookers I pay to play vidya with twice a month "friends," sure. I pay extra if they win, to keep it competitive.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're right...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or wife/husband.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But i have friends! One time a week, we meet up, drink a couple of beers and play Halo or Diablo III. But i would like to Play a new game...

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Rocket league has local multiplayer. It’s what I play with my friends when we have a few beers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Octodad let's you control all four limbs with separate controllers on console, great if you're having a drink too!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, all of the Twisted Metals. Hours of coop single screen fun.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So good!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nintendo consoles and Steam have plenty of them.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I just want online co-op story mode games. Is that too much?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

4 player local co-op Diablo 3 on ps4 is awesome

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's one of the games i play on the Xbox one with the boys

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was thinking of grabbing that. Does it make all new players like, LV. 1 tho? Or does it even them out so they're close to Player 1's lv?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

because they want $$$$$$$$$$$$

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 5

Also I'm pretty sure processing power could also be an issue, there's a reason CoD on the Wii didn't have split screen or killcams

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Newsflash: business has the goal of turning a profit. Stop the presses

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They don't do it especially becaused it cost money to make and most player don't give a fuck about local multiplayer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Imo the best multiplayer was the first Worms, on PS1. 4 player, one controller, one screen.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"Fucker, give me the controller I only have 20 seconds left on my turn!"

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Switch is doing pretty good with couch MP so far. Not a massive selection, but definitely a lot of promise and several gems.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

They hugely dropped the ball on making Splatoon 2 split screen coop. I love the game but that was a big missed opportunity.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Love my switch so much.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never had a Nintendo console before. Came close to getting a wii. What do you like most in the Switch?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Insanely good games on it. Odyssey, BOTW, Splatoon 2, Mario+Rabbids, Mario Kart, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are so much fun.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's both home and portable.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Zelda BOTW and Mario Odyssey are two of arguably the best games of all time. Definitely of their time. Bunch of other great titles already.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can be playing a game on your couch, pull your switch from the dock, toss it in your bag, and then keep playing that same game on the //

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

// bus exactly where you left off. The Joycon controllers are a stroke of genius too, look up all their features.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have kids and I rarely get to sit down in front of a TV so it's nice to play on the go but also be able to hook it up to the TV sometimes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

several aspects, last nintendo was a wii, last portable was gameboy colour. I like that you can both go handheld and regular console 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The switch itself has a decent battery life and recharges fairly quickly if you want to use it on the move. as for games most of them 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you are feeling on the edge of buying one I'd say go for it, but waiting will only drive down prices so there's no shame in that either/5

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Breath of the wild by being able to finetune your aiming with moving the controller, it really adds a lot to the immersion surprisingly. 4/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

uses the motion control not as a main thing and can be disabled, which is nice. I was surprised by how much the aiming becomes better in 3/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Overcooked is a good local multiplayer game :)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Overcooked, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Screen Cheat, Brawlhalla, Gauntlet, Castle Crashers, the list goes on!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's all fun and games until someone burns the fries, the deep fryer catches fire, the ice floe melts and the entire restaurant sinks.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was a real test of friendship I admit.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just looked it up on YouTube. Looks great! I’m gonna buy it and play it with my husband! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's amazing :D

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Split screen means everything has to be rendered twice, which is rough when framerates are already in the spotlight.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yea, and consoles today are still having difficulty in some cases of 30 fps, forget 60. Meanwhile I get 144 on my PC.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Halo 4 on the 360 was hilariously bad in co-op campaign. Draw distance as far as 15 feet in wooded areas.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Couch co-op was the shit! My wife and I played all of Gears and Halo together. So disappointed they do't make local co-op games anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 446 Dislikes 2

I got à shitload of couch games. Steam ftw

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

split screen was the best though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hear the EDF is recruiting. EDF! EDF! EDF!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I heard that Overcooked is a really fun couch co-op game.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If you want to get a divorce really quickly, yes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Diablo 3

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That might be one of the most romantic things I’ve ever read before

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Loads of indie games have local co-op

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gears of Halo theft auto.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The lego games have cooperative 2player split screen.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Y’all do borderlands??? That’s a good one

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you loved Gears and Halo, pop out and buy a copy of Army of Two, it's brilliant couch co-op.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rip visceral

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, hopefully they've split from EA or are waiting out the stock options before leaving and doing something else.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife and I have been meticulously going over borderlands the past few months. Fingers crossed for BL3

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Nice I have been doing the same w/ my girlfriend

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do they even make co-cop campaigns at all anymore? Local or otherwise?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We played halo and rpgs. We played Baldur’s Gate like 5 times.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Win xp where you made your ipx and you were good to go

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well how else can Microsoft sell Xbox’s if people can have 4 players play on one console?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Easy, dont buy an xbox. Me and the wife have tons of local coop games on steam

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

lol poor butthurt fanboys downvoting you... local co-op on steam or Nintendo games are all I play with my kids. PC has TONS of split-screen.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

One of my favorites was Modern Warfare 2 spec ops missions co-op.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh.. so tite

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me & bro love local co-ops. NBA Jam (where's the PS4 port?!?!), Borderlands, Rayman Legends, Resistance (1 & 3), Rocket League...

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

EXPLOSIONS?!?!?!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh man, NBA Jam was the shit, played that through a whole night til the sun rose again...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One of the reasons I still have my PS3 is that we love to spin NBA jam up every now and then. No replacement for PS4 :P

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The new Gears is Co-op/split screen!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out borderlands 2 or Diablo 3, my boyfriend and I are playing borderlands atm and it's so much fun!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are loads of great local co-ops available for PC. You can browse it as a category on Steam now.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 Days to Die offers awesome local coop!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They announced that Halo 6 is ginna have couch co-op

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't. Thanks :D

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're in for a treat!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now tvs are actually big enough to do it, yet they make less...

8 years ago | Likes 213 Dislikes 1

Tbh. I prefer my old tuber for couch coop. 2 evenly divided screens instead of 2 really long ones.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember when we got a 32" screen, it was like god came down from heaven and blessed us with this wonderful offering. Flat screen too!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah but instead of having one person complain it's not 60fps you have four.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish they would make the font bigger. You go split screen and then even on a big screen it feels like a font for ants.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For one they'd rather everyone have to buy their own console. Also they have to push consoles to their limits to hit 25 fps, they (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't afford to render a game more than once, even if it's at a smaller resolution (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IKR?! Goldeneye on a 24" screen, but now that there are TVs the size of doors there's no new multiplayer.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

24"?! You bastard. I had a 4" screen :(

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Plot twist; it wasn't my TV, I never had Goldeneye as a kid & it was always played @ friends houses.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your sister tells me it’s still 4”.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've been told the issue is graphics hardware, even latest gen consoles have a hard time rendering two+ viewpoints at once at current 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yet an n64 did it fine, Nintendo still splits screen now and does fine. It just shows the other consoles are crap

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

settings. Even a top-line computer could struggle, potentially. Older machines had more overhead to work with. Sounded legit.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

People cared less about certain things too. 4 player Goldeneye and Perfect Dark hold an atrocious frame rate.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, it was harder to notice on a smaller tv back then but yeah, it'll make you sick looking at that 20fps sometimes.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because with local multiplayer only one person needs to buy the game to play with friends. With online everyone needs to buy it.

8 years ago | Likes 255 Dislikes 6

Don’t forget multiple online subscriptions.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But with LAN multiplayer they can bleed you for extra disks but we can still play after they close the servers.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That, and it's much harder to render two canvases, even if they are both half the size of the regular one.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Me and my husband game-share on ps4, now granted we did buy 2 ps4s but that was more about us arguing over whose turn it was to play

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not if you have the master console (Sony). You can use the same game on 2 consoles at the same time

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also they can ransom your friends back to you with DLCs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

This is such an incredibly cynical way to view the reason behind this shit, the real reason is that they would have to disable most (1/3)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

ulling techniques, and most modern consoles are already just barely able to run the games as it is, if you got rid of the culling (2/3)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

techniques, you'd have a game that is pretty much unplayable in terms of frame-rate and visual fidelity.(3/3)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

It's more to do with consoles not being able to render the same scene twice. You either lower fidelity or just don't do it to begin with 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 6

I'd gladly lose quality for multiplayer. Heck I just built a retropie so we can play together

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 and save developer time when they don't have to optimize for double rendering

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

So...new and more advanced consoles are more potato then the older generation units?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's more older consoles were such potato that local multiplayer was far easier to accomplish

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's because of PC gaming. When the competition has amazing graphics, you have to keep up and there's a limit to what tech can handle.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

New games have much higher graphic requirements. Rendering the same scene 2-4 times in 1080HD every 1/60th of a second w no lag is hard

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

There's no graphics 'requirement' ... Make fun games. Look at Nintendo

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And two consoles. And two tv's.

8 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 5

That is what my GF and I finally did. So much better.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

LOL @ that username bud. You still sure she's not imaginary?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She checks my account from time to time. LOL

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that right there is why PCs are better. Everyone will have some kind anyway, make it a gaming one and everyone can play.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Friends stopped getting PCs. :( What happened to LAN parties? I literally did those with my dad. He had the cool friends. (fragged them all)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and 2 seperate subscription services (with PSN and XBOX)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Just gameshare with the other person, ik it's merely a band-aid but it helped my best friend and I play together when he got his console

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you're forgetting PS1 link cables

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're right... But this was the purpose of a console

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 3

While you're thinking 'this could be good in local coop', some CEO is thinking 'a pool in my third house would be sweet'.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

They don't care they just want more money

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Is there ever a point where companies just have enough money income and don't need more I mean come on

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

you underestimate the greed of people. more isn't enough, they want infinite money

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1
