This is awesome. I want every part of me used, then cremated and put into a Cafe Bustelo can. Then spread my ashes over Times Square.

Where's my etc located? I failed anatomy. I know where my kidney, liver and cornea are and the title said 4 lives saved so the etc is left

Organ donors are absolutely heroes. I celebrated my 12th anniversary with my borrowed heart this year & am grateful for the chance to live.

Child donors are very rare in Japan. Recipients often come to the US to try to get organs.

I'm registered as a donor - I only hope there's still something worth harvesting.
gauraSleepPilot
You can't do that here in my country . They will probably sell it.

It raises awareness though, organs are needed by countless people including children, its something that needs to be thought of as a reality

I honestly think organ donation should be the standard choice if you don't have issues with the organs and you have to sign to not donate.
I believe that decision is still up to the next of kin. Unless, of course, you believe that the state has eminent domain over our corpses.

You can live without your cornea.
InconspicuousMoustache
Cornea?
SFCrawNik
That'd be a weird thing to do as a Dr. like taking body parts out of a dead person.

Yeah, really old one too. wish the titled had been phrased better to indicate that. Also I believe it was in Japan.

Seriously, 3 years ago. There were like 10 people on imgur back then. I think this repost is ok.

If you want to register go to organize.org it takes less than a minute!
badbeauwolfy
Maybe too soon, but can someone explain how a donated cornea would be uzed? (specifically(
abrakadumbass
cornea transplants are a thing
Thank you.

That's how I'd like to go out. At least let someone else use what I got left. Sorry liver is no good

You can arrange to earmark your body for scientific donation now. When you die, it'll all be taken care of. They often pay for cremation too
canyouthriveat35
That's my plan. I've already filed out the paperwork. My family said I was morbid bc I'm only 31 but you never know when it'll happen.
ILikedTheirOldStuffBetter
Sadly only a small percentage of people who are registered organ donors ever actually get the chance to. Makes it that much more (1/2)
(2/2) important for all of us to check that box on our licenses. No reason not to, except for religious reasons I guess.

I'm conflicted on this for personal reasons [donating my organs] I know it will help others in every aspect, as a person and RN. 1/2
2/2 but I have had many surgeries since age 10 and more to come [age 30 atm]. When I die I just want to RIP finally.

I'm an organ donor with the exception of my eyes cause it creeped me out way too much, even though I know it's stupid.

I’m afraid of cremation because I’m afraid of being burned. I’m also afraid of being buried alive , even though I had an autopsy.
yourrabiddoggy
Maybe look at it another way - your eyes will continue to go on, see more things, and give someone else an amazing life.
StillChasingFireflies
That sounds creepy as all fuck, but also really cool and inspiring.
Does sound like the premise of a bad horror movie, yes... At the end of the day, and your life, they are your eyes, it is up to you.
