Parents had them. You can get them no matter how dirty or clean your house is. They just come in and hide. Got rid of them fairly easily. Some insecticide and a heat gun. Seeing them run away and die from the heat gun is great.
In spirit of what they were actually asking, I was finishing Pale Fire back in school and reading outside when a Monarch butterfly landed on the last few pages. Butterflies play an important symbolic role in the novel
Just like birds, the male "ladybugs" are the colorful ones. These are the females. They often hide because they're embarrassed by their lack of color, so they're less well known. /s
Look for dirty black speckles in the corners and edges too. Round the tag, behind the headboard and in the box spring. If you see that speckling, that’s a sure fire sign of bed bugs and you need to get the fuck out of there. Don’t even set your bags down in the room before you check. Those hitchhikers are wily and WILL scheme ways to go home with you. Only saving grace if you do get them is they cannot fly and can be stopped by interceptors and duct tape. Use diatomaceous earth in the trays.
I travelled a lot last year in Europe. And I am going again. My main thing about booking a place to stay is look for "bed bugs" or "bugs" in reviews. Also "clean" is a good keyword. I cancelled a booking this year, just because a review came in with "bed bugs".
I would be willing to wager that every business type hotel has had bed bugs. All of them.
I worked at a Hampton and we got them twice in the year I worked there. Business people travel and bring them all over. It's not a cleanliness issue except that you must pay $1,000 per room to heat treat it and kill the bugs immediately. As long as a hotel treats when bugs are discovered, they are literally doing everything possible.
Pest control professional here. Best spot to look for them is at the head of the bed. Pull it back a little and look for spots about the size of a coffee ground. Under the mattress too, if you're physically able to lift it.
Also around bed skirts. Those are almost never taken off amd washed.
Check the edge of the mattress for little black spots of blood is one. UV lights show it pretty well, but you might get some unwanted information in a hotel room
They are parasites and don't discriminate. The only difference between high end and "shady" hotels is how fast they are dealt with when finally discovered.
Yup, it has nothing to do with cleanliness. A lot of department stores or any stores that sell textiles can also have them. It's a good idea when you buy new clothes to wash them first, at least through the dryer.

Have you read "Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka ? Look upon it as a warning - or useful information, you choose.

Do bedbugs make you cough?

They can cause allergies, iirc.

If you feel connected to lady bugs but can't explain, try biting the nearest human and see if it sparks anything. They are cannibals after all.

The females also really like dark soft places like between fabric and cushions because it's so soft and cuddly.

A friend is a flight attendant and has found bed bugs in some very high end hotels. Always check your bed before getting into it!

Any hotel that tells you they have never had bed bugs is lying. The difference is, do they treat them correctly to eliminate them.

To be specific. Washing with a high enough temperatue. 45C/113F is needed for at least 30 min. Better use 60C/140F to be safe.

Oh no. This is real folks. Even 5 star hotels get bed bugs. Lift your damn mattress when you get into the room!
comacomacomacomachameleon
first thing i do, even before bringing my bag in. Check that the sheets are clean, lift the mattress looking for any sign of bed bugs.
EaNasirsExcellentHighGradeCopper
yep, same. Check the room for visible cleanliness, Check the bathroom for the same, then pull the bed away from the wall and check the
EaNasirsExcellentHighGradeCopper
sheets and mattresses. Even high end hotels can be nasty as fuck and give you disgusting, unclean rooms at times. the only difference
EaNasirsExcellentHighGradeCopper
is that high end hotels will have the decency to act ashamed about it and try to make it right.
