I dont think apathy is the whole story. Sheltered might be more of it. We havent had to actually stand up and fight for anything bigger than civil rights since the civil war, so we are out of practice. And to make matters worse, most people probably are in denial of how deep we are, and therefore will need a bigger disturbance to join a revolution.

Fair point. We all HAVE to vote when we turn 18 in Australia. For local and federal elections. It's in our best interests to learn about the parties, government and the law. I've been thinking and I believe I'd like to change my answer. It is one of improbability, but no more improbable than your question. Death would be too kind. No. I want them all to see the error of their choices, to see and understand the madness and corruption they are supporting, and to live with that guilt every single second of every day for the rest of their lives. That may be more fitting a punishment. But that would require them to have empathy, which the vast majority do not.
