Apparently Hollywood scrambled and changed a bunch of things in their films and some weren't even shown in theaters or were cancelled altogether. This mostly involved cutting out the Twin Towers from scenes, but games and other things such as stand up specials, music, and literature were also altered after the events.

If I'm being honest, I think the redo is actually better. Minus the cut comedy scenes. The alien spaceship and island environment just work.

Rockstar also removed a mission in GTA IV where you have to fly a plane around Liberty City

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah they did the same thing with MGS2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many movies were altered. Die Hard 2 was "banned" and all kinds of things. As if that did any good whatsoever in the light of what happened.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why though? I mean, does editing the towers and jet planes out of media help people pretend it didn't happen?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember seeing a Spiderman trailer where he nabs a get-away helicopter between the twin towers in a giant web. Anyone else remember that?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember reading up on how so much got cut from MGS2, also.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Against changes for sensitive people

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They also changed the hot potato scene from Jumba just blowing up a gas mains, so that green clouds were less evil looking than fireballs

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The recut makes more sense to me

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I remember the original trailer for Spider-Man featured the Twin Towers.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and pretty prominently, too. Spider-Man originally caught a helicopter in a web between the towers.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the one! It was a pretty cool trailer. Shame.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Proof that Disney was behind 9/11!!!

911 also change the original spider-man, when he catches the plane over the bridge, originally it was between two buildings.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bit of a shame. The original is so much better.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Imagine if lilo and stitch was released before the attacks. What would they do, take it down and replace it? Release a disclaimer?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Probably not. Changes after the fact are mainly to avoid being accused of making light of a tragedy. Released before, they couldn't have(1/2

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

(2/2) seen it coming, so they probably wouldn't do anything.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I still mourn a lot for the Spiderman Twintowers spiderweb scene that was only in the pre 9/11 teaser and not in the actual movie :/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I personally prefer the ship because alien ship was cool as.

He get's fucked over in BOTH cuts; wonder if he's aware of that?

Always feel sorry for that dude.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I think the recut makes it better. He tries to find a secluded spot, but fate just doesn't want him and ice cream to be.

Always wondered why the inside of the alien ship looked like an earth plane...

dee-nice.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jet fuel doesn’t melt steel...people do.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It doesn't, but it can make it a lot softer.

But you just did...

I know they held The release of George Carlin’s special “I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die” bc it was right after 9/11. Released 2016

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Was it released September 11, 2016?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So going by South Park’s “anything is funny after 15 years”?

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I still remember the original trailer for Spider-Man had him making a web between the twin towers. Saw it once and then never saw it again.

8 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

Even after the reshooting the movie still sucked

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Reminds me of the level in Red Alert 2 where you have to defend the Twin Towers against the the Russians.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I thought it was you take it over as the Russians, deploy a psychic beacon there then have to hold off Allied counter attacks?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're right, I miss-remembered. Ironically you lose the game if you destroy the Twin Towers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I member!

Anyone have a copy/screenshot of that archived. I was starting to think that I imagined it...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That part with the landing gear on the wall was cool as hell though.

8 years ago | Likes 933 Dislikes 0

Ya, it was great

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

But it was to soon my friend. Too soon

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, the terrorists won this one.

8 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 3

Can you imagine the poor guys who animated that scene having to cut it out?

8 years ago | Likes 209 Dislikes 0

I can imagine someone making him to it all over while saying nope some terrorists hit some buildings, we must PC everything

8 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 17

Or maybe, just maybe, they wanted to be sensitive to the thousands that lost loved ones in a tragedy that was still recent.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Our perhaps it's Disney, a family entertainment company, who didn't want to upset the hundreds of children who lost their parents.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Stuff that, the few must suffer through emotional distress so the many can be mildly entertained¿

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah this is true. Disney has been this way since day 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's just "PC" and not "hey this really terrifying thing happened just a few months ago, maybe let's not be terrifying little kids"

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

To be fair, being PC just means being respectful of other people's feelings.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That's not what it means. Being respectful is all that. Being PC is adhering to the current majority opinion on sensitive issues.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool as hell, but sadly it's also unrealistic

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 113

It's a cartoon you walnut!

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Because the rest of the movie is completely realistic...

8 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Um...I don't know what you're trying to say...?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 29

Ok, either sarcasm died over night, or I am offensively unfunny.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If it makes you feel any better I gave you an upvote because I knew the literal people were going to downvote you to Oblivion

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think the recut makes more sense. Jumba & Pleakley were there to extract Stitch so they should have a ready-to-go vehicle.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's been a while since I saw the movie, but didn't they request an extraction after capturing Stitch?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Found a script and you're right. Pleakley calls Galactic Command and says "We'll wait right here."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And there is a point made in the movie that Stitch can develop beyond his destructive nature because there is no big cities there.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Granted, it could be a city in the next island and they got there with the plane, but then Ice cream man wouldn't be there.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe that city has REALLY good ice cream

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't argue against that logic.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like I prefer the recut, simply because I don't think I'd believe an Earth-made jumbo jet could handle like that.

8 years ago | Likes 1778 Dislikes 24

Word

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I think it's less the vehicle, but more physics, air drag and other factors and math and stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm just gonna leave this here https://youtu.be/72q61Gl-qtg

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To be fair, all that really showed is a steep takeoff and some slaloming back and forth.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, I know that class of craft can do a roll, I've seen the video, but it's not evident from that video.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It absolutely couldn't handle like that, but this is an animated childrens' movie, where hyperbole comes to life

8 years ago | Likes 387 Dislikes 13

I mean you're actually wrong, so I don't know why everyone's upvoting this

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Fair enough, but there are limits to anyone's suspension of disbelief, and that just happens to be mine.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

You care about realism in action films? There isn't a single realistic action film. *dare*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Assuming the existence of aliens, Battle: LA

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't have to BE realistic, but it does have to FEEL realistic in the film universe. And that's a very personal thing.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fucking THANK YOU, someone who understands basic subjectivism and suspension of disbelief! I regret I have but one upvote to give!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The landing gear on the side of the building is a bit ridic, but it's a kids movie about aliens. Big jets actually are surprisingly spry tho

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You just gotta empty the fuel and pax out. Then you're left with not a lot of plane but A LOT of engine.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And yet we are told that they did on Sept 11th....... dun dun daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lol

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tin foil hats here! Get your tin foil hats! Only $9.11!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Honestly it was fairly plausible up until the landing gear part. The alien ship did make more sense though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a cartoon yo.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Why the fuck do I even own one of those if I can't do that?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know right?! What's the Point?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you ever see that denzel movie?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

that one where snoop dog is the pilot?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No because I want to not be terrified when I fly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea that was legit

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Biggles could do it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

biggles with the goggles

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but if you can fly a sopwith camel, you can fly anything... :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am so ridiculously happy someone got that.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up reading Biggles. :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're questioning realism in a children's cartoon containing aliens. :D

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

The alien stuff can do whatever it wants, but we know something about jets so it's jarring when they do weirdness. It's about consistency.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I mean, sort of? Like, alien thing doing that, sure, no problem, but a jumbo jet is just too known for me to be able to suspend disbelief.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's not supposed to be realistic though, it's supposed to be funny.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

But the jet isn't funny. And the visuals are actually improved with the brighter colours of the alien ship, and the natural backdrop.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You'd be suprised what a skilled pilot can do with an empty commercial planes

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 5

That, or even just a few Saudis who trained up on some Cessnas down in Florida for a while.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't believe an alien geneticist would be a good pilot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That wasnt my point

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A scientitian can do anything, from particle physics to genetic engineering to advanced piloting. All in a days work for sciencians.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

707 doing a barrel roll https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KNbKFMBsQE

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was an aileron roll, not a barrel roll.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Wow, what horrible quality. I wish they'd remaster it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone else remember that B-52 pilot that tried this stunt?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

no, but id like to see if you've got a link

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here's the wiki on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Fairchild_Air_Force_Base_B-52_crash There's a video too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy. Shit. I'd hate to have been in the air with that fucker

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And died

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

didn't he even take his sceptic superior with him?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He did. Because the superior decided that the pilot needed someoe to supervise him during the flight. Well...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know there was a Boeing test pilot who pulled a couple barrel rolls when he was supposed to only do a flyover as a demonstration.

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

with a 707 I believe over Lake Washington on its first public demonstration

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I need a sauce. preferably a video

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Got my own sauce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra_khhzuFlE

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks of reminding me of that. A good example of that sort of thing going well. The B-52 guy wasn't as risk aware or skilled.
