It's funny that all these non-Canadians are struggling to understand this, though we've known and understood it since we were toddlers.

Milkbags.Jugs. ( • Y • ) teehee

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, I had no idea what the hell this bagged shit was until I moved to Ontario.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Also, unlike jugs, milk bags aren't recyclable

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yes they are, it just depends where you live. They're recycle here.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an Albertan, I also think bagged milk is stupid. Jugs are way more convenient. And convenience means less effort. I like less effort.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's too many steps for my damn milk.

11 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 3

As a female, my milk bags are only available in a 2-pack. Take that, commies!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We used to have milk in bags in Spain. In the early 80's. Then Tetrabrick appeared. Welcome to 20th Century, guys.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You still live in 19hundred something?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tetra Pak is where it's at.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I don't get the big issue. As an American, I've had milk in a bag. We just got it from different places, like Kwik Trip.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

...you need google to use common sense?

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Apparently, google is sometimes required for those who lack common sense.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

As a Canadian I have only ever seen milk bags on the internet.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You must be out West

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Milk absorbs odors, hence why you should seal it and not leave an open bag of milk in refrigerator. Unless you like sour milk.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 8

The opening in the bag is small enough that this honestly isn't an issue, it'll be fine for like a week

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And milk lasts longer if its closed and not left open and "exposed to the elements" of the barren arctic of my rotten ramen.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Never had this problem, have never sealed a bag of milk.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But why keep the bag in the pitcher? Why not pour the milk into the pitcher and toss the bag?

11 years ago | Likes 206 Dislikes 9

thus comes the reason to just get a carton/glass/plastic container

11 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Doesnt keeping the bag in the pitcher get troublesome when it runs low?

11 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 2

This is a much better idea.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, the milk would oxidize much faster, thus going bad quicker.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, I'm thinking more like an old-timey milk bottle than a juice pitcher though.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because you would have to wash the pitcher between refills. Plus, it's very difficult to pour from the bag if it is not already contained

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Why do you touch yourself at night?

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Now we're asking the real questions

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know why.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's a slit in the front of the jug that you fold over the cut end and put into to seal. We have these in Wisconsin, it's cheap as hell.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Minnesota too, at Kwik Trip!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aren't they the greatest! They finally put some in in Duluth and it's awesome!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I freaking LOVE KT. But maybe that's because I work there and all my coworkers and guests are all so awesome. :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, 4 liters in 3 bags?? Why not just make 1 liter bags? And what do you do if you don't want to buy that much milk at once?

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Because you only open them as you need them, they last awhile. Or you can get a small carton, but most buy bags. Better deal.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Where Im from in Ontario, Milk is also available in 1L and 2L cartons

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've wondered for years why the milk bags aren't 1L each.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No need.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Buy a carton. Bagged milk is for families/people that really like milk.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

As a Canadian who is lazy and misplaces my scissors, I usually go the hardcore route.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

lol

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Stab a hobo and drink his blood? Or...or is that just my version of hardcore?

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ever done teeth? Watch out for wonky streamage.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

heh heh...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done the old "slice that fucker open with a steak knife" more than once. Never ends well.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As and American I just twist the cap off if I lose my scissors.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before I moved we used have a milk man and we got the glass jugs of milk and it was awesome

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

There's a small local dairy near where I live in Detroit that still offers glass bottle delivery service. And they make delicious ice cream.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The best way to store milk and milk substitute products.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

+1 for milk substitutes. I'm about that lactose-free life.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*fistbump* Tis a good life. I'm an oat milk drinker myself.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keeping it real in real places like Sweden.

TETRA PAK GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURL (I'm actually moving to about 100m from the Tetra Pak factory in a few weeks.)

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Fuck yeah Tetra Pak

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are those colored squares on them?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Arla representerar!

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

As someone who lives in Ontario: cartons are so rare here! They taste so much better than bagged milk

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

This is the real argument: which one tastes better

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They taste the exact same. My parents buy in bags due to cost, I buy in cartons because I can't drink that much milk in under 2 weeks myself

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cannot stand cartons. So much more expensive, and they never open right for me.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because cartons and bags are lame. Jugs are where it's at

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In MN you can get it but only at Kwik Trip

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I know right, it's awesome.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually in MN you can only get Melk in a Beag

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well don'tcha Know

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wisconsinite, here. Same.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Seconded

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And as far as keeping it sealed, you just twist the bag and put the corner in that J shaped thing at the lip of the carton

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bags are easier and cheaper to ship than jugs. You close it using a bag clip (like with chips).

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Now I want milk clips shaped like nipples :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Youbput your fries in a bag too?!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Potato chips.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know... I'm American and just an asshole

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ontario here...cutting off 1 tip of the bag is so wrong. You always cut a big one on the pour side and a little one on the other

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

she looks like the kind of person that thinks they're really cool for some knowledge they have on some really dumb subject matter

"Sack of Milk" sounds like an insult.

11 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 5

OP's mom llikes to feel she is being spread with that insult

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in udder words...

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

GET OUT and by get out I mean stay

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You sorrowful sack of milk, I wish you the most unpleasant of deaths. Now begone! (Yes, it checks out.)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

'milk sacks' is already a euphemism for women's breasts

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

More like AKA boob.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lets make it an insult.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

only in the vegan world

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Having a "body like a milk bag" serves as an insult.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You useless bloody BAG OF MILK! Yep, it checks out.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or a bawdy compliment "Check out the Sacks of Milk on that Muliebrous Tellurian"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unless you seal that bag the milk WILL go bad faster than in a bottle/capped jug. In Norway it comes in carton for easy recycling

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

True, but the opening is small so its not that much of an issue, where im from there are also smaller cartons if you don't use much milk

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not an expert, but pretty sure air and bacteria don't care about the size of the opening.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They absolutely do, smaller openings mean less air circulation

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would love to see some sort of calculation on how much longer an open bag of milk lasts if the hole is 50% smaller. Probably not 50% longer

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See! The fucking Scandinavians figure out the balance once again!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, why is it easy to recycle cartons with tiny bits of milk left inside of them? Isn't it gonna get gross?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here we rinse them. Not really an issue. We don't just toss cartons with milk in them

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But each bag is small, so it's quickly finished before it can go bad. Also it has no weird milk crust stuff

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Milk crust? Never seen/heard of that. What is it?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the milk jar has a lid on it, over time, there will be some milk that just kinda dries and ferments around the lid.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ah, like with a jar that is reused? Explains why I've never seen it

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much milk is in one bag?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1/3 gallon ish so about 3-4 bowls of cereal?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously though, what exactly is the point in using Milk Bags? Seems rather unnecessary.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 5

I find it easier to poor too. And you don't need to seal it.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Less plastic used, more space efficient for transportation. And there aren't really any downsides.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Good point. Apart from a little extra time to pour a glass of milk carefully, there's no real downside.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once when I was little I accidentally cut too big of a corner off and it poured too fast. That's the only issue I've had :)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are also squishy when they are in milk bags. Used to entertain the hell out of me when I was younger for some strange reason.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The bags keeps the milk fresher (you just open another when you finish one). I moved to the states and I noticed that milk in jugs 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If it keeps the bag fresher than I might have to reconsider my stance on this...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

go bad WAY faster!! I miss my milk bags!! 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The cartons we have in Australia usually last a month. Not sure about milk bags though. Haven't had one in a long, long time.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Woops. I meant "if it keeps the milk* fresher".

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Less materials means cheaper packaging and less waste. Take up less space on shelves. The bags are significantly less expensive than jugs.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

How much does your milk cost because I'm having a hard time believing you guys get it that cheaply. Our gallon is usually USD$2.50-3.00.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't live there anymore, but the bags were half-gallons and around $1 (skim) to $1.20 (whole).

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly didn't know Canada had that large of a Dairy trade to make it that cheap, cool.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not Canada, Wisconsin, sorry. There's one gas station chain in WI that sells its own bag milk. (if it were Canada, I think they use Liters)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How about just using a friggin' carton? Recyclable, costs next to nothing... http://www.fishfood.fi/i/kuvat/tiedotteet/valio_maito_big.jpg

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah! I thought they used those everywhere. I live in Sweden and it's hard to find a bag of milk

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair enough. I suppose you could also stick a straw in it and drink from it rather than having to pour it into a cup.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See this I can get behind, that's a good idea.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brilliant idea haha.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like you. You have ideas.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like you too, uh... person without a name.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would be odd, but I guess doable?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, this is perfectly normal. The milk is perfectly fine for weeks even with a little hole in it. It's pasteurized, people.

11 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 11

how can you still have milk after several weeks? how???

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Regular pasteurized milk doesn't keep for weeks. UHT milk does, but the UHT process partially caramelizes it, so it tastes sweet.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dunno, I feel like if I left the cap off a milk jug for a few weeks in my fridge, it would smell like Funkytown

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is normal. I've only had jugged milk once in my life, that was weird.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cut a tiny hole in the other tip too so air can get in while pouring...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but the fridge taste... ugh

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm from WI, Kwik Trip sells milk in bags. I grew up with that wonderful shit. Didn't realize it was odd.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We Wisconsinites are closer to Canadian than we are many American states. Also, milk bags and Kwik Trip are big parst of my childhood.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True. Best part about college is that there's still a Kwik Trip within a mile of where I live.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Alberta we use jugs. Way more convenient. And yes I've spent alot of time out east so I've experienced both sides.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I want options both... we Need both out west i say.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yay alberta bro. Yeah out west its.. uh.. normal. Eastern Canada is the more weird and stereotypical breed of Canadian.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah man. I love out east don't get me wrong, but come on guys. Wake up and smell the Tim Hortons coffee. Jugs are where it's at.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I moved from BC to ON last year, and the main thing for me is the fact that I no longer have to experience the weird crusty stuff on the jug

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah that's fair

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guys, it's 11:40pm. Should I make a Taco Bell run or nah'?

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Just doing my civic duties sir.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

seriously. I came back to check.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...seriously am i missing something? the bag stays open in the fridge? wouldnt that go bad in like a day? look i know Americans are 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 426 Dislikes 37

Opened food only goes bad in the fridge when you have bad stuff in the fridge. Mold begets mold, basically. Other than that it's fine.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Like sealing a colostomy bag

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Omg, I hate those darn little clips. (I'm a nurse.)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the "velcro" ones are so much easier

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is better, cause it let's you keep the rest fresher longer if you don't use it as fast, by keeping the other bags sealed.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

AMERICANS ARE WHAT

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hey im canadian we used bag for as far as i can remember, this shit will stay fresh for a week and anyways you drink one bag in a day or 2

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Canadian here, and no, they can last like 2+ weeks

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Many things in Europe are irradiated, like milk and eggs. I was in London for a few weeks and saw eggs on grocery shelves, not refrigerated.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this isn't about irradiation. Eggs in America are washed, which destroys cuticle, which allows contamination. Not so in Europe.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here in Wisconsin, Kwik Trip stores sell milk in bags. The free pitchers have a little curved notch to tuck the cut corner of the bag into

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

why the fuck did it take 12 hours for someone to give me an actual answer? jesus h titty-fucking christ

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it takes probably just as long as a carton. Milk never goes bad in my house.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

I'm pretty sure there's a bit at the end to pinch the end. I haven't had bagged milk since I was a kid though.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Of course not.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the bag milk i've bought (wisconsin) has had a clip thing on the jug for you to twist the open part into "sealing" it. Has always lasted

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After 30+ years of experience with them, it doesn't go bad any faster than a sealed gallon jug.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

100 years

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Naw man. It lasts just as long (experience:Canadian )

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

We have them in Wisconsin. You twist the open corner shut, pinch it and place it in a little loop bracket thing. Takes no time at all.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My milk taste like onions!!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I guess Americans could just use a twisty tie to help get over that "All food must be sealed in air-tight bodybags" mentality.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I mean, milk comes from a cow at above ambient temperature, so sitting out open in a fridge is fine

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Ummm...no..they don't go bad just because they aren't sealed shut..as long as it's refrigerated they stay good for a few days..and have you1

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Seen the size of that packet? How long do you expect them to last anyways?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Actually keeping milk in a clear container (gallon jug) is worse because it's the light that seems to do more damage. That's why cartons.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

close the refrigerator door and the light goes out

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It only matters if you bring jug/carton to the table rather than putting it back after pouring a cup

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

all i can think about is in fightclub the book they mention how dairy tends to hold smells. funky funky fridge smells.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

So, and mind you I'm American so it may be different elsewhere, but the pitcher the milk bag goes into has a bit that closes the bag off.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was Coelasquid, canadian writer of punchlineismachismo, said 'yea, but the bags pop if you look at them funny, why are we proud of this'

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Some countries are fucked up. In Spain they don't even refridgerate them at the store bc they have so many preservatives, maybe that's it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

some european countries sell milk that doesn't need refrigeration because it's been irradiated. s nothing alive in it to cause spoilage

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, that's called sterilized milk. Boiled shortly to kill the germs. Doesn't taste as good as pasteurized milk of course.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sure it would not spoil any faster, but I would be concerned about it picking up odors from other foods if the bag was not sealed.

11 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 3

I once had a bunch of blueberries in the fridge with an open bag of milk and they made the milk taste like blueberries.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You stole words from my keyboard.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

exactly! it won't spoil, but leaving it unsealed will affect the taste because the refrigerator circulates the air past everything

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

it doesn't really. the bag usually lasts less than a week in our house anyways (3 people) so maybe if it was in there longer it would.

uhh yes they do, it just takes longer. opened milk will go bad in a few days even in the fridge

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Why?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...thats a good question, actually. something about airtight containers or something...i aint a orcket scientist

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

There may be a different but I doubt it's very substantial. We used milk bags and I never noticed them going bad faster

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Bacteria fool, its not like getting slightly cool will kill them, it just inhibits their growth, or every winter my acne would clear up.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

So I've been using milk bags my whole life and just learned about the sealing clips today. Even without them the milk stays good for...

11 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 2

.....atleast 3 years

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

...a week or more, and the flavour doesn't change (we buy milk cartons too, so easy for me to compare)

11 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

also smaller portions in the bag means it gets finished quickly and replaced

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

A carton doesn't seal it any better.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

jug- with screw tight cap

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm just saying cartons go past the expiration without any problems, so a bag is no different.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you cut a small corner off the tip, you can buy clips but not needed. Our milk usually lasts in the fridge for a week after being opened.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

A week is not a very long time...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure what was meant is that it's gone in a week. I don't know how long milk sits in your fridge for, but it's the same with mine.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it can last longer but we drink it before that ever happens.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And tastes like every single thing in your fridge at the same time. Yum!

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 13

It really doesn't.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Truth. Foods higher in fats will absorb flavors from everything else

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

No it doesn't. Source, being a Canadian

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

I've never had that issue.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tasted it? I have, and it doesn't.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

You just haven't had uncontaminated milk before.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Actually half the milk we buy comes in plastic jugs. It depends which store we're at when we get it. It tastes the same.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

always wrong forever all the time.....but milk bags sound like a really stupid idea. cartons or gtfo

11 years ago | Likes 385 Dislikes 44

In my house, milk gets ingested too quickly for it to even think about going bad.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

BOTTLES! Bottles?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I never like to have anything open in the fridge. Seems like a bad idea

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

What the fuck kind of milk are you drinking that oxidizes?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

GTFO: Go To Fudge Oasis. THANKS I SO BAD WANTED TO!!!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 22

Unless you have some rank shit that will crawl into the milk bag in your fridge, theres no problem. Cartons aren't airtight either.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

but a bottle with a lid is, or close enough anyway. AUSTRALIA FROWNS ON THESE WEIRD BAGS.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Abit more airtight than a plastic bag with a hole in it, though

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

They last for a while. If you want extra freshness, you can use clips to seal the bag. But, honestly, it doesn't matter.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Amen!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The carton milk last for a long time, the plastic bottles, the milk goes bad fast after you've opened them. I think it's the light-exposure?

I chuckled at your comment. I mean I'm not proud of it, but I did.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I buy milk in a bag, and the jug for it has a little hook on the spout, you twist the cut bit of bag and hook it.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

if only there was a device that both held the milk AND secured it inside.....

ok so is there something holding the bag in the jug? Cuz i feel like if u tip it for the last bit of milk the bag will just fall out

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And just to blow your minds, I'm a 'Merican. Born and raised in the midwest, and not on a farm, big city thankyouverymuch.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cartons aren't airtight either...there's no difference. Think about it...

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Cartons aren't the only other way milk comes. Mine comes in a bottle like the one pictured, only smaller.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cartons with screwcorks

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jugs are...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeh, but nobody flips out over milk coming in cartons :p

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only milk cartons we have where I live have plastic screw-on caps. People have weird milk receptacles.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Single people usually don't buy bags, but it's convenient for families who go through a lot of wilk in a week

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

plus it's easier to store than a gallon jug

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I lived on my own, I still bought the 3 pack..fuckin' love milk.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

because a twist top is hard?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What do they buy if not bags? Is there another option in Canada?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, there are 2 litre and 1 litre cartons

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then why do people buy bags?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah we got them in Canada it doesn't go bad for a while

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 7

define a while. no seriously, im super curious now

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

like I am usually finished the milk far before it goes bad.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I can have a milk bag open for a week. I don't know about longer, since I normally drink one bag in less than 48 hours.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It took a week to drink because I spent most of that week at a friend's house.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canadian here, eh. I want to say a week. Though we usually run out of a bag (1 L) in a couple days.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That sounds pretty reasonable actually, though recycling bags, especially ones that held food/liquid, is difficult.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

only one week? milk cartons usually stay good up til two....just sayin

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Like between 5 and 8 days usually!!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And how long does it take to drink milk?!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just bought a gallon jug today; it expires on October 10th. That's 2 weeks from now.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

plastic carton user: less than two weeks and its unacceptable

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Canada is a frozen wasteland, tho. I'd like to see this work in a Mississippi summer.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

A 4 degree fridge is a 4 degree fridge.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Colombian here. We use bags. They work for days.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Its in a fridge genius

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You know refrigerators are at about the same temperature wherever they are?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I know people like to joke about the south, but you guys do have refrigeration. You're not that poor.

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

IT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK
