Don't ever feel embarrassed. My only advice to those who are too scared to go to a gym.

12 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

BAD ASS! i always see this same over weight guy at the gym and i always wanna cheer him on! GO GO GO!!!!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

BECAUSE THE BEST WAY TO TAKE AWAY ATTENTION IS TO WEAR COSTUMES AND TAKE PICTURES

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats so fuckin awesome.

12 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Dude, so much respect.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You know, the chunky guy is pretty cute. Props to him for working to improve his health AND having awesome friends! ᴵ'ᵈ ᵈᵃᵗᵉ ʰᶦᵐ⋅⋅⋅

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well good for those guys

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

So much respect for the overweight guy, it take a lot to just go the gym so don't ever be embarrassed about it. Your friend rocks too!

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Nobody gives a damn who's at the gym as long as they're not curling in the squat rack.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In my opinion, overweight guys deserve more respect than others. They choose not to sit their asses at home and actually change something.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Honestly people at the gym are usually glad to see anyone there, because we know you're trying to better yourself.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

douche at gym "haha you so fat, you should lose 200 lbs". why the fuck do you think I'm here?

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can we nominate this guy for GGG for the year?

12 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

That is a good good man.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just saying but most people will respect you for working out, it's just the ones that troll obnoxiously to down play it that get annoying

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love seeing overweight people at the gym. If they can do it, I can too.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is he single? >.> I mean really either one of them will do...

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i wish over weight people wouldnt feel weird at gyms as a gym rat im happy your there

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Keep it up big dude. You remind me of myself a few years back. Few years of eating well and going to the gym now -150lbs. Good luck!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to go to the gym but felt uncomfortable. I am "building" my own gym at home. I have an elliptical and treadmill so far!

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

get some weights as well! if you are like me (poor and no muscles at al) canned food like baked beans work just as well!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have one amazing friend! And you shouldn't be embarrassed! Just think, you're doing more than most! xoxo

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I give him major bro points but in reality most people at the gym mainly focused on themselves and the occasional hot chick/dude

12 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 2

The big guy isn't even unattractive. Honestly I would be looking for the whole other reason!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But also, people are self conscious and think everyone is judging them.

12 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Pretty much this. In fact the fattest guys I see are often training with a fit guy.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

semper mirin'

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I rarely notice anyone doing anything outside of my workout radius. Sometimes ill look around but I'll be to my workout

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't even have to be hot. Chick/Dudes always distract me.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Depends on where you go... I have been to two gyms that have been less than pleasant because of judgmental people.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The "overweight" person does not look out of place at the gym and the theatrics are completely unnecessary...

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

You're comoletley right but as long as he feels insecure it doesn't matter if others understand why

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*why hes there

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whether you think he doesn't look out of place or that the theatrics are unnecessary doesn't really have any bearing on how the guy feels.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a pretty fit person, I have the utmost respect for overweight people in the gym. Anyone who looks down on them is complete scum.

12 years ago | Likes 135 Dislikes 1

I'm the same way. I think it's great people are getting to the gym!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember back when I was worried people would judge me because of how tiny and skinny I was. Thankfully I never stopped going.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I didn't really think about things like that before, but after reading comments like your's I have started to feel the same way!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This happened at Fort Hays State University. My friends were talking about this in class.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I go there Ive seen these guys while working out! I respect him so much for working out there its intimidating with all the atheletes

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thank you for your respect. Next time you see us be sure and say hello... Thank you

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your welcome keep up the good work!!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't he be traipsing around other parts of the gym and not stand right behind the guy who doesn't want attention?

12 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 8

Who's to say he is standing behind his friend the whole time? This is one moment captured in a photograph.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Obviously the pictures have to be of the together, but that doesn't mean he's always hovering around his friend. Sorry for my drunk grammar.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think the bro is trying to demonstrate that no one cares, or alternatively they are being embarrassed together.

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I think he feels like a boss in that costume and not even close embarrassed

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean "being embarrassed". Obviously that's the point he's trying to make, rather than trying to distract people's attention.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And draws more attention by standing next to him.

12 years ago | Likes 1011 Dislikes 17

right?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I doubt he's standing beside him the whole time. And anyway, it's about moral support more than anything else. Solid friendship.

12 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

...and posting it online.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

right?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the end, what matters if he there for support, nothing else, if he is a costumed douche taking shot of overweights at the gym, fuck him.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not to mention posting it online.

Everyone at the gym deserves respect. No matter how out of shape you are- at least you're there, you're trying, you're improving.

12 years ago | Likes 2341 Dislikes 23

too bad the majority of dude bros that go to the gym are complete and utter tools who don't do this.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

damn right

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except fir the guy curling in the squat rack. I hate him

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

they all deserve high fives

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea, I can't imagine anyone being a dick for such a reason, there are people of all shapes and sizes there, always

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's that kinda thinking that got me going to the gym at my university.. I'm plump and there's loads of really fit people, but I'm trying xD

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I actually respect the elders and the "overweight" people in gym. They're like, my motivation. What's my excuse when I see them working out.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's always baffled me that people would judge others at the gym for their looks. They're doing something to better themselves!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They don't really mind, if anything they're proud. They all know you gotta start somewhere

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except for CrossFit. They TALK about going to the gym more than they're at the gym.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Why is that I wonder? I Do triathlons. We only talk about our training with other triathletes. Except maybe on race day.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Upvotes to infinity

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A statement so obvious, it should need to be said.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So much this! It doesn't matter how big or small you are. You are lapping everyone on the couch.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I agree to a point. But I've met plenty of assholes that really need to be kicked in the teeth. They give weightlifters a bad name.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You're Goddamn Right

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

i respect the skinny guys in the weight room more than the ripped bros. i know how hard it was for them to even walk in.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I respect the heavies more than I do anybody else. It takes infinitely more will power to not only make it to the gym, but kick fat's ass.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah, i respect moreso overweight people who go to the gym!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't agree. Some ppl at the gym put in 1% effort and take up machines and just have bad gym etiquette. Those ppl are annoying. (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started off extremely skinny and worked my ass off to get results. When I see others just taking it easy I don't get why they're there.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ahah I am just trying.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My favorite guy at the gym is the extreamly heavy guy. He can't do much but what he can do, he does with everything he's got.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

...except the throngs people who signed up for the fad programs whose popularity causes the gym to replace its traditional equipment (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

with whatever the hot equipment trend is. I've lost more than one gym to this nonsense, and those people are not in it for the long run.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I love this! I want to make signs of this and post it in all the gyms.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very, very easy? After all, they can't catch you.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it isn't an issue anymore, since I'm a regular for 3 years now, but it was, and it got to me, and I wish I've read your comment sooner

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i am sorry i wasnt there for past you! but great news for present and future you!! well done my dear :)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unless you don't wash your gym clothes enough and you don't wipe off the machines. Fuck that guy.

12 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Or the guy that doesn't rerack his weights. Fuck that guy too.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And the guy who sits on machines/equipment for ages without doing anything.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you're at the gym you're already doing better than me. So nothing but respect here....unless you plaster it all over my facebook

12 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Why not? I am allowed to post what I want on Facebook. Maybe I have friends and family that want to see how I am doing?

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

If you go to the gym and don't post it on facebook, did you really even go to the gym at all?

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I know that it can be annoying but some people do find inspiration in seeing other people go to the gym regularly and change their lives.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This. Don't go to the gym just to show it of for your friends

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I hate when people post or take pictures at thw gym. Go to workout not to show people you work out

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I am a bit jundgemental for two weeks after new years, the other 50 weeks every year are all respect though.

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 5

I will always be judgmental of the people who use the machines simply as a bench so they can text the whole time, though. >.>

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i can definitely respect that. New years resolutioners are the worst at the gym. Not because they're new but because they don't stay.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I avoided the gym for the first 3 weeks of the new year due to high volume of people who will only drop out shortly after starting

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mostly ignore everyone at the gym anyway. I am not a fan of human interaction when I'm getting my sweat on. Feels too much like an orgy.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yep and u are all by yourself onthe treadmills and someonejust has to go to theone next to youand try to talk to you whenyou have headphones

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like to pretend like I'm invisible when I run. Otherwise, I'd be self-conscious.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, in all normal and decent gyms, everyone respects the hell out of everyone, Nobody needs to be afraid to join a gym.

12 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

I don't know how to use the equipment and would have no idea what kind of stuff to even be doing and how much and how long and ahhhh!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ask the gym instructors there! most are more than happy top help with all of that.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't that cost extra?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usually a personal trainer will, but most gyms will have instructors on hand who just patrol the gym and help for free.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly I have never met a mean person at the gym. Everyone started from some point and knows how it felt those first years.

12 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 4

You must already be in shape, or have never been to one of those trendy fitness clubs.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not really, I started going about a year and a half ago, 5-6 days a week. I am in the Army, but never saw my self as super "big".

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Been going to the gym almost a year now and most attention ive gotten was when a guy asked if I needed a spotter orif he could use the bench

12 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

My facebook is full of dicks making fun of fat people at the gym. I don't go to the gym. Every day is brain day for me.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn, I'm so sorry :(. People like that don't deserve to have friends. But +1 for braining training :).

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some dudes will make douchy comments but you gotta ignore it..everyone one started somewhere

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I go to a YMCA and my only complaint is children running around in the adult wellness areas.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think some of this "gym hate" is perceived, but either way it makes it harder for newbies.

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Some? More like the vast majority of it.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Yeah, I used to think people were looking and judging me, but as I went more I noticed everyone was just doing their own thing.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same, I'm a tall, long haired, lanky dude and i got no negative attention at the gym.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just avoid gyms filled with asshole muscle heads and you're set.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

Yeah, this raises a valid point; the only assholes at gyms are out of shape gits who take out their insecurities on people already in shape.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Really? I also found that the muscle heads, especially those that are probably on steroids, are usually the nicest

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True, true, I go to 24 hour Fitness and have been for a year and a half. And yet to run into someone like this.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You'd be surprised at the amount of "muscle heads" who are actually really nice guys, don't judge a book by its cover!

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

He need to start somewhere save first. (2/end)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

True, but I also heard a lot of heart aching stories from overweight people who got jeered out of a gym because of muscleheads. I think (1)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yeah, that really sucks. Hey, I guess there are assholes in every walk of life :(
