Everything Muay Thai +1 Best sport on the planet..IMHO

As someone whose level of combat proficiency is "That's my purse; I don't know you!" this is most impressive

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is Kaga GooGoo , right?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm winded just from watching 30 seconds of this.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stamp is a beast🔥

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn’t feel that confident with all them kicks around my balls

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Badass.

Love a girl that can kick my ass lol

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The way she jerks her head when she makes a big move looks odd to me. Is that intentional?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah, there is a thread taking about this just above you

Preparing for a night at the bar can be rough!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sign that says 2023 is a horrible idea....they need a new one every year.

STAMP!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Psh ! I can take her...if I lose 40 lbs, train for a decade, and pay someone to fight her for me, no biggie.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

she is tough ..

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The snap in her kicks. If she makes contact, you're gonna seriously feel that shit.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stamp Fairtex!!! She's awesome.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is Exactly how I felt at improve-night!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Got hit with a little bit of nostalgia watching that. Since I was little my sister (older than me by 1 year) was in kickboxing, she was (and still is) huge into it, and I'd go to her training sessions after my own gymnastics practices were over and just watch her smack bags and her coaches in pads until training for that day was done and then we'd walk home together.

She’s an extremely talented fighter.

That is some intense sparring. Good thing they know each other well & he's got pads....

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh man, Stamp was just on the MMAhour yesterday, now FP of imgur, she debuted in the US on 5/5/23, she is a ONE fighter.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What's a "ONE fighter"?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ONE is a MMA promotion based out of Asia, 2nd largest in the world, muy tai, kickboxing, jujitsu, MMA, overall great company

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it normal for her to be jerking her head that much? That seems not great.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

She specifically has had belts in three different sports, mma muai Tai and bjj. I assume whatever she's doing is the correct way.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I used to do it at an amateur level, and I agree. But, not a pro, so who knows. Seems bad for the neck.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As others said in MT your really going all in and pulling with the other half of your body. It's not necessary to do it to throw a kick in general, but it's very appropriate for MT

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its fairly normal. MT kicks get a lot of power from the hips. When they whip toward your opponent, your body's momentum will invariably tug your head a bit. Mine doesn't jerk that much but then I'm betting she's more powerful than me

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it normal for imgur users to question 2 time world champions on their own sport? That seems not great. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stamp_Fairtex)

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 11

Lmao... yeah

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It seemed strange to me too, as someone who knows nothing about this, and I was also wondering the same thing. I had no idea that she was a world champion, all I know is that if I moved my head around like that I'd instantly get injured. So I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Appeal to false authority, buddy. You can be a champion at a physical sport and an overall badass without necessarily knowing everything about the human body and the side-effects of doing something for too long. Many athletes damage their body from doing stuff they shouldn't.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Appeal to false authority only applies when the one being referred to has no authority or knowledge in the field being discussed. Assuming a 2-time world champion knows what she's doing is fair

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If fighters - even successful ones - did not have bad habits then they would not need coaches.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is normal.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

In high school I got a PE credit for standing in at a women’s defense class (straight male btw) wore pads like these and just stood around getting my shit wrecked by a line of girls. Best “class” I ever took, and I’m not even into that kind of thing.

2 years ago | Likes 631 Dislikes 7

Death by snu snu

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You're telling me I'm immune to martial arts just wearing those pads in specific places? 🤔

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hahahahahahah no.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tackle and grapple?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If you're on the ground you're doing wrong...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did martial arts as a kid, so decided to volunteer to be the practice dummy in a self-defense class for girls at my school. They didn't let me watch them practice, and to this day I have no idea how I was flipped and thrown so many different ways. It was great.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bear in mind that holding the pads can lead to concussion like symptoms and brain damage for real

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if you're holding the pads with your head. Do not hold the pads with your head my dude.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mu cousin talked me into doing the exact same thing. We both took turns getting wrecked. I'm still great friends with all those ladies

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

You, sir, should join a Krav Maga class. Excellent cardio, full body workout, and you walk away feeling like a complete badass. Also bruised. We call bruises a "Krav Tan".

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like fun. I don't understand why you felt the need to share that you were straight though lmao. Do you think doing something like this normally makes you gay? Honestly don't get it.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Maybe its just his identity. 🤷‍♀️

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Yeah I don't see an issue with it either way.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's no issue. I'm just not understanding how it's relevant information. Seem out of the ordinary to blurt out your orientation from left field is all I'm reacting to

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll agree to that. It shouldn't matter.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do the same thing but adults.. I train cops in self defense and teach different arresting methods.. I always tell them to give it all during training so they learn to be proportional

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You train them to mag-dump into the backs of children running from them? Well, I hope it at least pays well.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't live in the states.. im dutch, we have morals and values, and like the rest of the world we have bad apples. Besides the police, imo, are a reflection of society.. so they are like the rest of the country.. if there are so many bad apples in a country's police force, the citizens aren't that much different or better.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ahh yes, the old "cops wouldn't murder people if they didn't deserve it" argument. Well done outing yourself as a fascist.

I am at that point in life where I feel like I need, not just a woman, but ANYONE to beat the shit out of me to get motivated

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

... and when I mentioned ANYONE, I meant...

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You should take up a combat sport

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I actually looked into jujitsu but it's so expensive

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean, just watching incoming ferocious women is worth doing, as long as you're sufficiently padded to survive unharmed

2 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

Does a condom count as a padding?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

There’s a joke to be made here.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

angry women and maxi-padding?

When engaging women in close quarters, ensure you use protection

You can enjoy stuff without getting aroused. I wouldn't get an erection (I don't think?) over it but I'd be really impressed if some lady threw me around because she was paying attention in class. That would be rad.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Love Muay Thai, it's a badass martial art. No showy flippy acrobatic bullshit, just straight up ass kicking.

2 years ago | Likes 180 Dislikes 6

I took a Khmer kickboxing class in Phnom Penh from an old guy in his driveway. He said, “You gave 100%. It amounted to 20-30%, but you gave 100%.”

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Too bad in Thailand it's corrupt as fuck and fights are rigged all the time.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

None if the rank nonsense either. You want a belt? Win it in the ring.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Still nothing near what the god of death (nickname), Apachai Hopachai was able to do in Mhuai Thai.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My one boxing coach just startwd teaching me muy thai moves, and one was like a spinning elbow follow through thing. I landed it like 20 times (on his hands) and realized driving home that I was bruised as FUCK on my elbow lol. I might have to start training it more, I'm 5'10 with long legs and a lot of power... But I will never spar Cuz my brain is my paycheck lol

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And you can straight up murder someone if you're not careful

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah; Modern Muay Thai is a sport, but it's a sport derived from a literal battleground martial art, that ITSELF is derived from an even more vicious battleground martial art.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I pity the thief that tries to rob a Muay Thai practitioner.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On top of that it’s super complex and super subtle.

2 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

There is something very satisfying about dropping a bomb switch kick after a tight jab, cross, hook combo. Feels soooo good!

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yea man. I feel that. Personally no plans to compete, but spar at least once a week. Hard not to get obsessed lol. Have never come even close in any other sport or MA that hits all the notes like MT.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here I grew up around martial arts and trained in a variety of styles and disciplines but I never competed. Competition was my brothers thing and he took home a shit load of trophies and medals. MT hits much harder than anything else I ever trained. It's super functional in real life and absurdly effect against some jerk who doesn't know what they are doing. Its hard fast and accurate and a great way to stay in shape. It's can brutal to get into class shape but worth it in the long term.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a south paw naturally but trained right handed for years so my switch kicks are legit stronger than my standard rear kicks.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Those elbows they throw are bruuuutal. You don't see it quite the same in ufc, not sure why

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bones Jones had elbows for days.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The kicks are incredibly difficult for most non-MT trained people to deal with, and the shin conditioning is priceless. I once nearly dropped a sparring partner in Kuntao class with a block when it hit shin to shin. Foot jabs are damn handy too.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

But when it goes wrong….I don’t know how people walk afterwards

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It always hurts the other guy more. I learned over 20years ago, IDK how they condition shins now, but did a lot of rolling with wood dowel and tapping with a handful of heavy gauge solid wire. Took over a decade for me to feel contact surface and I can still pound em in on the bottom of a heavy bag. Rough housing at fam reunion, nephew kicked me solid in the shin w/ steel toe (he knew I’d trained MT), just felt a little warm. These days I only practice foot jabs, round kicks R brutal on my hips

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

They usually don't with a broken shin

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's brutal. Anderson Silva never recovered.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My shins were wrecked when I did Muay Thai, covered in hard lumps, but the worst example is a fight you can find online where the guy throwing a kick snapped both his shin bones so his lower leg wrapped around the defender. He then briefly stood on the bent mid-shin before falling over. It's sickening to see

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that was baad. One thing that stuck with me after it was demo’d on a bag I was holding - aim to draw through the kick like a blade, instead of snapping it at the knee and landing like a hammer head. It penetrates more, although also telegraphs more. Ultimately I stopped using kicks entirely for self defense with exception of horse shoe/ stomp kick.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes that’s exactly the imaging that’s stuck in my head. It’s like watching a horse with a broken leg trying to stand
