What happened to her right leg? Judging by the shape of the cape, it's not tucked behind her.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Probably just the perspective; she has both legs.

#60 Norm: "He doesn't like you." Luke: "I'm sorry." Cliff: "Now, Norm, that's just not true. I always like to meet new people and make new friends. Like the other day, I was delivering mail and a kind old man came out to grab it, and so I say to him..." Norm: "I don't like you either."

We had to say dicketty cos the Kaiser stole our word for twenty.

#27 That line always annoyed me. "Five by five" is a communication receiver status (literally "loud and clear"), and the pilot character is written to use it as a speed and heading status.

Yes, grandpa was a military pilot and yes, I may have picked up some triggers and neuroses from him, why do you ask?

9 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Could load and clear mean (from their point of view) that they’re coming in ‘loud and clear’ as in ‘we ain’t hiding, we’re coming in hot and damn to anyone who tries to get in our way’. ?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I never took it to be speed and heading. Taking the original meaning and the context, I think it's intended to indicate they're receiving clear signals either from ground or the Sulaco, or that everything is AOk

LoL, so there was this whole thread (on reddit, I recall) where a veteran was complaining about how players in the computer game Planetside use "actual" wrong. The correct military use, as I understand it, is to clarify whether you're speaking literally to a commanding officer or to an intermediary, so like "This is command" is how the radio operator answers. Versus "This is command actual" is how the commanding officer answers. 1/?

But players in game use it to ask if waypoints and objective markers are up to date, or if whoever's in charge needs to update the map, as in "Is waypoint actual?" like an abbreviation of "Is the waypoint actually valid?". Anyway, it was this whole big long argument between military folk and grammarians and I still laugh when I think back about it, so I thought I'd share. 2/2

It would be for example, 2-5 Actual LT or CO vs 2-5 Romeo. Romeo being the RTO Radio Telephone Operator, or Juliet’s dude in that tragedy by William Shakespeare.

Cool, thanks. I'm going to note this down for a military SciFi novel I'm working on writing. I'm not going to succeed at anything like total accuracy, but it's nice to get as much correct as possible.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh wow that’s awesome. Well if you have any questions about military terminology for your novel don’t hesitate to PM me. I’m an Army Veteran 11B

#25 I know that I know these three, but I can't remember who they are.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're from G.I. Joe. Blonde is Cover Girl, brunette is Lady Jaye, and redhead is Scarlett.

9 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Couldn't remember Cover Girl, ty! She has the same outfit as Chuckles almost and they both were undercover operatives which is kinda funny

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I thought they were interpretations of thunder cats, was going to make a "Ho!" joke...

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like grown-up Powerpuff Girls

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would it surprise you if they did? GI Joe has had many crossovers

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Transformer G.I. Joe crossovers are the best! Loved seeing Cobra Commander and Starscream together

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... You know, fair.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly I would love to see a GI Joe and ppg crossover. Could even put samurai Jack in there since ppg and jack are connected
