no idea this was canadian... seeing a lot of my korean elementary students with care bears merch now, they have no idea it was a show
LeMegachonk
Care Bears isn't Canadian, the show was just produced by a Canadian company. Care Bears was invented and is owned by American Greetings.
lepidoptera
Wait, so the rest of the world doesn’t have Care Bears? What are all your boxes in your parents basement stuffed with?
JigglyWitch
Omg I'm having vivid flashbacks of this from my childhood. My brain is splitting. I used to get my hair cut at a place that had toys.
jenw
I loved me some Care Bears. These episodes were gold.
FoolishMortal
Produced by Canadian studio Nelvana . Who also brough you this epic bit of 80's nostalgia
ItWasASickOstrich
The space arc was only 8 episodes, I remember it being longer
SleeperXib
I never even questioned this. I guess, as a kid, I must have assumed it was a separate show.
Rakoth
Hmm, has Toy Galaxy covered Care Bears yet? Probably just a matter of time.
relsky
I have a soft spot for the care bears... I enjoyed the cartoon, and my childhood crush was named cari and I called her care bear...
ISayShenanigans
Don't remember much of the cartoon, but I remember it had a catchy theme song after the Care Bare Cousins we're introduced.
LutraLazuli
Dunno why, but always seemed to like the purple raccoon one
sadurdaynight
The problem is the target demographic matures quickly when a show comes out, so the shows try to start adding more plot... but kids 1/
decide they've out-grown the show at that point, so the "deeper" plot flops. This is why a lot of kids cartoons have 2 yr lifespans./
Masterfngrblaster
It's called evolution bro
PrettyLittleThrowAwa03
I'm sorry what?
OldenPickles
Looks like Trek canon bearverse to me. Borg are rubix cubes.

'You will be completed' *reorganises care bears' internal organs so the colours match*

Would that make the Bajorans Pound Puppies?
RawwrrRawwrrLikeaDungeonDragon
Uh-oh. They all have red shirts
Trollero
Yup, that's why it was their final season

Giving us the CareBears is the only reason we didn't turn Canada's cities to ash after they sent us Caillou. Fuck that bald ass prick. He's
literally the only time the world collectively cheered for pediatric cancer to win.
KimShunpei
These guys are still kicking in French politics. There is a popular saying here : ce n'est le monde des Bisounours.
"ce n'est pas le monde des Bisounours" Sry, forgot a word
darkstarmc
Carebears is Canadian? Wait does that mean Americans have no idea about the care bear stare?
Shaows
Were the Kling-ons just other Carebears that just bearhugged people to death?
RoombaTheAssaultVacuum
Klingons were grizzly bears.
Illithidbane
Now I am picturing Prince Philionel from Slayers shouting "caring bearhug crush!"

See, there’s a joke in here somewhere about cling-ons and the Charmin toilet paper bears.

Huh never realized that this was a Canadian cartoon. It was so ubiquitous in my childhood I just assumed it was part of everyone's.
taichanie
I literally can't find anything that its Canadian other then it aired here...

Was a thing in Germany too. I even sold Carebear plushies as an adult, in my first job at a toy store, back in the late 2000s
ThePenguinSmuggler
Care bears transcend boarders
Magnasplit
Saw it in Norway on Sky Channel (Fun Factory or DJ Cat show I think) on cable. Think they sold the toys here as well.
kitticuskattus
I was on the DJ Cat show once! At least I assume it is the same one. They came to film us doing archery. They cut my line though
somethingdark
I saw it in the US, but I also managed to see the Australian show Ocean Girl so idk what channels I was getting in the 90s.
afatrollofmyown
I was nuts for Ocean Girl back in the day!
All three seasons of Ocean Girl were wonderful.
HasteTheFool
The Canadian cartoon industry spread the Canadian ways all over the world. It's part of the reason hope still remains.
DarkDuskBlade
Yeah, I'm always amazed at the sheer number of cartoons that come from Canada. Hollow surprised me. I think Glitch Techs, too
Coyotebd
Reboot, Rocket Robinhood (and by extension and the re-use of cells) OG spiderman, Racoons

My mom worked for Crawley/Atkinson animation before I was born. A LOT of animation around that time came from here.
And yes, my birth DID ruin her career, thanks for asking.

Definitely syndicated to the US. Like the Kids In The Hall of Saturday morning cartoons.
ToSisPoS
Lol. I’m trying to picture a sanitized kid-friendly cartoon version of KiTH now.
Rannath
Apparently that would be carebears.
I'm Crushing your Sadness! I am crushing it!
Thank you for that. That's the fist genuine laugh I've had all month.
